What is the fastest, but also cheapest sports car to maintain ever made?
ecoboost
From all cars and brands, I find Panoz so fucking ugly
Holy shit
a motor bike
>>15952493
but anon, what happens when one of your tires loses traction in a corner
>>15952518
you poo your pants and enjoy it more than you thought
Corvette
>>15952534
dont you mean low/high side and fall
I'm pretty sure cars can handle more recoverable traction loss than motorcycles
>>15952549
This
Id say NSX too, its an accord
>>15952549
I thought about this
compared to say the Supra, which costs loss to run over say a 50-100K interval
>>15952558
>NSX
Didn't Rob Spaghetti do a video saying replacement parts for the NSX were super expensive because it uses special proprietary parts- like the clutch costing almost $2K
>>15952553
all depends massively on the pilot
>>15952573
cars have a higher and more stable coefficient of grip
>depends massively on the pilot
It depends massively on tires. Even then, at a certain slip angle, motorcycles are completely unrecoverable. That angle being 2-3x less than that of a car.
At least with cars you can slide to a stop or spin safely. You'll always fall on a motorcycle.
>>15952624
are you joking? if you lose enough slip on a car you can't recover. both have thresholds and a car is just as easy to pass through as a bike due to the driver with your mentality thinking "lol i have more wiggle room!" you can slide with both, stop with both, but spinning safely is the biggest meme. let's say you start a spin and then someone turns in or brake checks. you can't even remotely stop the car until grip is recovered.
>>15952624
you sir are implying that the driver is able to use those tyres.
yes bikes cant spin, but even i a shit rider has slid to a stop in an emergency
it all depends on the pilot
Snek.
>>15952624
When a car can change its camber angle 30 degrees on the fly to enter corners, you can try again sweetie
>>15952647
usable slip angle is higher on a car than on a motorcycle
>a car is just as easy to pass through as a bike
no
>but spinning safely is the biggest meme
no
>>15952657
>even i a shit rider has slid to a stop in an emergency
Things that have never happened. Never once have I seen a 500cc + motorcycle low side and slide to a stop- WITHOUT the rider falling off or sliding across pavement.
>>15952665
When liter bikes start riding in pouring rain, mud, sleet, ice, or snow with the same traction limits as cars- you can try again honey
miata is always the answer
>>15952470
Caterham overall.
>>15952731
Bikefags BTFO!
I feel the same way though. What's the point of having a motorcycle if you can't ride it in all conditions throughout the year any time of the day and not be afraid to fall?
Most riders absolutely refuse to ride their bikes when it rains, let alone when it snows or gets too cold. One of the reasons I love my Subaru. Can do runs up and down snow covered mountains with the heater on and some hot cocoa.
No bikefags to be found.
>>15952734
convertibles are luxury cars not sports cars
MR2 sw20 turbo
>>15952822
(you)
>>15952812
If you've ridden in "cold" weather (sub-40 degrees F), you'd know air temp is roughly 30 degrees F cooler than standing air temp. It very quickly loses it's appeal. Motorcycles for me are definitely a fair weather hobby. Rain doesn't matter if you're wearing gear (so it doesn't feel like nails being driven into your skin), but putting on 5 layers and still freezing isn't fun.
Also, you can easily own both.
>>15952470
Probably some kind of bike engine powered kit car.
>>15952571
He added shit like fancy wheels for $3k in his repair costs
>>15952907
>It very quickly loses it's appeal
So cars are more fun and can actually be driven hard when it snows unlike sport bikes, got it.
>Rain doesn't matter if you're wearing gear
You're still afraid you're going to fall and won't push your bike as hard as you would a car.
I can't even count the number of posts in dbt about people saying their scared to ride hard in anything but dry conditions.
So yes, cars are more fun year round in all conditions and can be pushed harder. While you're figuring out "gear" and how "not to fall and die", I'll be out having fun driving on street doing runs.
I'm gonna say a swapped miata. You can find one in good condition for less than $5k. Pick your motor, buy your swap kit, add power. You already have less weight to move than almost anything else. Parts are cheap, insurance is cheap, you fly under the radar for the most part, and dat top down feel is so nice.
>>15952975
$500 and an afternoon, bro
>>15952951
I remember the clutch alone still being like 1500
>>15952998
Sounds like a regular clutch job on a sports car to me
Keep in mind that clutch isn't the only thing being changed at the same time
>>15953009
>Sounds like a regular clutch job on a sports car to me
I meant just the part itself anon . .
>>15952907
>also you can easily own both
/thread
>>15953021
Overpriced as fuck
And I doubt his NSX has a fancy twin turbo setup making over 500bhp
>>15953033
He had the NA2 NSX, the newer one
>>15953026
>also you can't easily drive both in the same conditions year round at the same pace without being afraid to fall and die
/thread
>>15953045
The only difference are the flywheel bolts which are like $5 each
>>15953059
I just googled 2001 NSX clutch and they all start at $1200
>>15953065
And yet that's a lot cheaper than what Rob payed
And you're still not listening to me, the clutches are interchangeable and the only big difference are the flywheel bolts
>>15952822
>miata
>luxury
You fuckin with me?
>>15953103
A convertible is a luxury car first
sports car second
there's just no way around that fact, sorry
>>15953080
So it's safe to say an NSX can be run cheaper than a Corvette or Supra
>>15953125
I see it being in the same range as a Corvette, mk. 4 Supra might be a bit more on the pricey side
>>15952470
caterham
>>15952549
This. Always this.
>>15952493
>"Sports car"
anyone here owned a turbo car that made at least 400 hp? like an r32, 33 etc.
Was wondering if I could have it as my only car, and how can i make it more stable.
>>15953312
>Was wondering if I could have it as my only car, and how can i make it more stable.
Remove the turbos or buy one that's NA
>>15953055
Different things are different, no way.
>>15953321
cant I just run low psi on the turbo, the gtr makes like 300 hp stock doesnt it, im sure i can get 400 without stressing the engine too much
The answer is always Miata.
>>15953325
The more dangerous inferior platform can't have the same amount of fun year round, no way
>>15953343
Premium gas for turbo cars in Japan is 100 octane
Where are you gonna find that?
>>15953343
400hp would be easy for an r33
>>15952962
This post sounds a lot like sour grapes. Like I said, you can easily own both so I don't understand your point.
Just because one item is a swiss army knife, doesn't mean it does everything better. I'd suggest taking an MSF course near you (a lot of states are free), and try riding. You might actually have fun and stop being scared there's more than one motor sport that's enjoyable.
>>15953361
E85
>>15953384
Ethanol will damage the fuel system
>>15953377
yeah exactly, thats why i assumed I could pretty much drive it at least 2 or 3 times a week and be fine right?
>>15953361
true, my dogshit country doesnt even say the octane number on the pumps, ill probably go get some fucking boat fuel or some shit since im near a port.
>>15953382
>Like I said, you can easily own both
You can park a motorcycle out on a busy street or in an apartment complex without it being stolen?
No, you can't. Stop spreading lies.
>>15953396
>straight talking out your ass
All he would need are larger injectors and a fuel pump that can support E85.. It's not hard.
>>15953411
If you use E85 without a conversion kit or non-Flex Fuel capable vehicle for an extended period, you can damage your engine.
Is he prepared to install a full conversion kit on a Skyline? Probably not.
>>15953350
What does Miata stand for or mean?
>>15953445
i mean, im not very sure about this but e85 only corrodes the fueling system doesnt it? whats it got to do with the engine, just change the fuel lines pumps injectors etc
>>15953312
How about some more details, you could do 400hp on a turbo 5.3 all day everyday. 400hp from a 2.0 is going to require caution.
In either cast keep in mind unless you are at full throttle you are not making full boost.
>>15953406
If you live in an apartment and you can't afford a garage or storage you may want to re-think Motor sports in general.
>>15952470
Old Miatas and Pontiac's from the 90's up until it's collapse are the best used really cheap sports cars
>>15953539
>you may want to re-think Motor sports in general.
Or just buy a car with a cover like the majority of the population and not be a stupid bike fag.
>>15953491
I mean, this one r33 gtr im looking at is making 400 whp with pretty good internals and I think its running stock twin turbos but im not sure about that part.
Just wondering how stable that setup would be.
>>15953539
>if you are too poor for mini bike house you shouldn't be out having fun on the road like me!

>>15953406
there are about 6 or 7 motorbikes parked in my apartment complex and none have been stolen
>>15953596
And which major metropolitan city and neighborhood do you live in anon?
>>15953455
It literally has nothing to do with the engine. You're right. Plenty of cars run fine on E85. Countless Evos, STi, Si, BRZs. It's been done tons of of times to R33s as well without any issues. This guy is just an idiot.
>>15953616
london. why?
>>15952470
with a LS1.
>>15953632
And which neighborhood?
So I can pull motorcycle theft statistics for your area vs an average one in the US
>>15953573
>Owning a garage means you own mini-bikes and should prevent you from having a car in general!
Look I can shit post too!
>>15953573
Here's your (you)
>>15953646
i don't know why that helps because in my area you have everything from £10m luxury apartments right through to the most dangerous council estate in london (allegedly)

>>15953455
You can't just dump E85 in the tank and go though. Car needs to be tuned to inject more fuel. Basically you would also need to get an EMS to retune the car.
The best way to do it is to go standalone ECU and larger injectors/pump and tune the car on E85. In most cases you would also need to upgrade the fuel lines.
>>15953756
Well obviously you need a tune for E85. That should go without saying. If he's trying to hit the 400hp mark he's going to need a tune regardless.

>>15953628
>>15953813

>tfw 100 octane pump fuel is now-

Seriously, go E85 while you still can and enjoy your shitbox with what time there is left.
>>15952470
Corvette IMO, but the C7 seems pretty unreliable to me. previous gens, C5 and C6 might be better. z06 will get nearly supercar levels of performance at a lower price than other cars of similar performance. this has always been the corvette's highlight. plus with a few simple mods you can get a lot of hp.
>>15953897
Why not just buy a used to salvage title GTR?
>>15952549
Honda Civic Type-R
>>15952549
>cheap to maintain
>replacing engines every 75k because your cylinders don't stay round
lol
>>15954963
you could but it would probably be in much worse shape than the vette, since the corvette was much cheaper to begin with. also rwd for hoons.
