I've bought parts and installed them with towing in mind, vortec max 6.0 w/heads and nice fuel system, Trans built, fresh rebuilt brakes with good pads, lsd and steeper gears, HD or SD ball joints and bushings. Need stiffer shocks in the back, hitch, wiring and I should be good I think. The jeeps a tiny ~2300lb thing and should tow pretty well.

I wasn't implying the load was negative on the tongue, I was implying that the rear of the truck, which is just the bed, is significantly lighter than the cabin and engine, which is on the front axle of the truck. The way the trailer is balanced means that there is still enough weight on the rear axle of the vehicle, but most of the weight of the truck is on the trailer's axle, as opposed to the vehicle's axle if it were the other way around.

You're right about everything but this. If that had 10% tongue weight that sedan would be mad squatting. They probably loaded it this way so it wouldn't squat and just looked right. Apart from loading I'm guessing that truck is just too much raw weight for that sedan.
