>>
>>15943352
they really put cummins in those things?
I did not know that
>>
>>15943352
Should be bretty good. The titan at least, vk56 is awesome engine and now diesel powah option.
Tundra always seemed like the crap choice and ridgeline doesnt count
>>
god that thing is fucking hideous.
>>
>>15943380
The proportions are just fucking weird. The front end is comically too large for the rest of the truck.
>>

Yeah okay they are all just oversized american "pickups"
>>
>>15943352

Titan is built in Mississippi
Tundra is built in Texas

Don't think anything about Jap trucks because there is no such thing anymore

There's plenty, just not within the US. And most of the Japanese global pickups are built in Thailand these days.

old Toyotas and Nissans are the only small pickups i'll drive, only Hardbody and Hilux

>>15943450

fucking things are awesome, i drove my '88 in -50 celcius one year and it still went. one of my old co-workers here in north Canada drove his '87 from here to El Salvador years ago to see family, he blew his transmission at the Mexico-Usa border and just drained the gear oil, thing still drove all the way back here and got a new trans in it. 86-89 were the best
>>
>>15943915

there still is Jap trucks, Titan and Tundra were just so Nissan and Toyota had something to compete with the big American 3. theres not even a JDM spec of either pickup

being said the Cummins Titan looks decent, otherwise i'd look at the 4 cylinder 4WD 5spd Tacoma that just came out but $35k base model is too much for something im gonna bang offroad in the mountains
>>
>>15943352
God-tier

70 Series Landcruisers will eat all the amerifat landbarges in offroad ability, reliability and practicality

Hilux/Navara still better all-rounders than anything else
>>
Old compact trucks like the old Hilux are based.

Honda managed to shoot itself in the foot with the Accord-with-a-truck-bed known as the Ridgeline, then it shot itself again after stopping production of the S2000.
>>
>>15943352
Do people even buy the new Nissan Titan? So far, I've only saw one on the road in North Texas.
>>
>>15945512
I saw a few in Canada when I was trekking around
>>
>>15945512
I've seen 3 I believe

the problem with it is that it's expensive. base price, all the way through the most premium option, are at least 10k more expensive than its Tundra/F150 etc counterpart. I don't understand why
>>
>>15943352
I think, if was American, I'd drive an F-150. But since I'm not, I enjoy my Navara with the 2.5l DCi, which is actually a much better engine than the 4.0l V6 you yanks put in it.

Here in Norway they are pretty much the only logical option in the normal-size truck market except for the Ford Ranger, although it doesn't sell all too well.

The germans dominate the flatbed van/pickup market, while the americans have the larger pickups
>>
>>15945656
Domestitards simply convince themselves the Jap branded pickups fall short on subjective measures whilst denying any fault of their own chosen marque.

And the JDM 70 Series only has the V6 petrol engine, no 1VD. Also all JDM 70 Series have ABS, stability and traction control. Only MY16 export 70 Series have the gizmos, and only MY12 and above for export 70's had ABS.

Fuck that, love the 1VD.

>>
>>15943363
Yes.
That engine was destined for the Ram1500 but when the auto recession/buyout fiasco happened and Dodge became owned by Fiat, Fiat refused to pay/use Cummins for the use of the engine and instead went to an Italian diesel company under its umbrella for cheaper and now you have the crazy overpriced EcoDiesel Ram. Cummins was left with the engine on their bench and decided to ask the auto industry, "so...does anybody want a diesel for their car line...?" Nissan stepped up and said "We'll take it!"
And now we have a Cummins Nissan Titan.
I feel it was a huge mistake and loss for Dodge. As someone who has dealt with A LOT of American diesel owners who haul heavy loads daily only have respect for Dodge BECAUSE of Cummins.
>>
>>15946837

>>
>>15954809

>>
>>15943363
>>15954667
Best decision Nissan made since they initiated the market research program that resulted in the 240Z, tbqh. Putting a Cummins in the Titan has pretty much guaranteed them a decent slice of the American pickup market for as long as they keep the relationship going.
>>
>>15954240
A diesel in a more manageable package. Like 80% of Super Duty buyers only get the thing because that used to be the only way to get a diesel.

Offroading, maybe, but nothing else. They chug fuel too fast to be practical, and reliability isn't sufficiently better to offset their more expensive parts and fewer experienced mechanics.
>>
>>15945707
I thought this looked similar.
>>
>>15958533
Basically, yes. Which is what makes it a good Fiat.
>>15961078
Actually, the older 1HD-FTE powered HDJ78 and 79 were pretty damn good on fuel. The only thing that's keeping the current V8 1VD-FTE VDJ78/79 from being frugal is they still use the older non turbo diesel gearing (2450rpm@62mph). Luckily there's ways around this.

This pissed me off, I was planning on chevy doing the whole 5 year grill cycle and buy a 2019 since it reminded me of the best year chevy 96-98, brand new and all mine. But no chevy went and fucked it all up with this new bold™ redesign that looks like shit. Fuck you GM. I looked past your shitty econoboxes and gay ass ads but ruining your bread and butter, the silverado after redeeming it from the 07-13 era you just lost a fanboy and lifelong customer.

>>
>>15962085
they all function the same between the big 3. honestly with modern 1/2 tons it comes down to brand loyalty and looks, personally what I really want is a tacoma or colorado they'd be perfect for my needs but when your charging the same price for a fullsize why wouldn't you get a truck with the same mpgs and more capability? It's the exact same reason why the small truck market tanked in 10's all over again.

Are you just making up things as you go along hoping people will blindly believe your drivel?
>>
>>15962085
>>15962112
This tbqh. There really isn't much difference between the Big 3's full-size pickups aside from Dodge/Ram having shit quality. A few details might be different, but the trucks' capability is largely the same. So why not make the final choice based on which one is more pleasing to your eye or which brand you're loyal to? It's not like you're going "The Ford is much more capable, but the Chevy is prettier so I'm buying it."
>>
>>15962275
I'd make my choice more on the merit of the drivetrain.
>>
>>15943352
I always put the new Titan high on a pedestal theoretically, but then in execution I wonder how it could bomb so bad.
>>
>>15962285
But that's the thing. The diesels are really the only engines that are significantly different. All the various gas engines could be switched around.
