I want to get another 3 years out of my shit box. I was rolling around under it today and saw the bottom of the rear rockers are getting crusty. Anything I can apply to slow it down? I'm in the rust belt so I get salted roads. Would a can of Por15 be worthwhile? Just to slap on the rockers and maybe the fuel lines since they are looking crusty as well. Like I said this is only for like 3 years (wanna wait till the new WRX body style hits).

No. That will just hold the rust together.

Patch it with sticks

>New wrx
Why? The old ones are so good and have plenty of aftermarket.
>inb4 snap oversteer.
Fucking learn to drive.
As for the rust grind as much out as you can and use a rust neutralizer and paint over that. It took mine about 3 years to rust through again and I completely half assed it. This time around I made my own patch panels and welded them in. I bought the metal for scrap prices from a local metal shop. I invested about $3 in the metal.

>not even APN
fucking pleb.
Three years on that, with salted roads? You're gonna have to cut & weld if you want it to last. Too many nooks and crannies in that damaged steel it won't reach, and when its not all covered it dosn't do much good
It could be worse

Was just planning on getting a wire wheel for my grinder to knock off all the lose stuff then spray por15. Would that be worthwhile at all?
As for why a WRX, I had a 2015 premium that I paid cash for and over insurance it. Got T boned by some kid in moms minivan speeding. Got every penny back I paid out for my WRX. And while I loved the WRX I know a new one is kinda close. Even things like having built in android audio is not available yet on the WRX.
On a side note, I had my WRX oil sprayed and while sure it only had 1 winter on it but it looked perfect under it. Got a good look at it because my WRX was on its side after the hit

This. It's a shitbox, dude. It can take a cheap fix.
Just scrape off the flaky stuff, wash it down with alcohol to clean it, then spray your fears away.

I used permatex rust treatment but they are all pretty much the same. The wire wheel will work. That's what I used for the stuff that was flaking off.
If you have 2015 wrx money then the 2017 won't be much more. Keep in mind what you can pay a shop to do to a older sti for the same price though.

But the cheapest you can find one (in my area) is like $15k for 100+ miles '02-'08. Its worth the extra $10k to not buy a used one run into the ground by a subiebro even if the new ones aren't as good.
Scotchguard. Or quite literally bubblegum.

That's not bad just needs pans

The thing is the 2017 is the same as the 2015. I really wanna wait till the new model/refresh. Number two, i'm getting old and even the new STI rides way to harsh for me. This would be a comfy daily driver that is fun enough to drive that can do good in the snow.
Thirdly, every used WRX/STi has bean beaten like a 5 dollar whore and they retain so much resale value because fuckbois love em.

15k for a wrx or sti. That's insane for a wrx.
