I'm looking for an objective response. Please leave the V6 meme out of this.

The older GT pretty much makes the same power as the newer V6. It makes sense to me to buy the newer car with fewer miles and cheaper tires. What are the pros and cons of each?

2010 GT or 2011-14 V6 Performance Pack.

05-09 GTs are too fucking outdated, IMO. Wouldn't bother with one unless it was a Shelby GT500. The newer cars are just a fucking quantum leap all around (not just engines, but chassis/suspension/brakes and interior)
>>
>>15938991
Can't afford a 2010 GT and for a newer V6, I'm looking at a base model. What does the performance package come with?
>>
>cheaper tires
Stick to a 90s camry, faggot.
>>
>>15939010
Pretty much all the good bits out of the 2011-14 GT. Its the V6 Performance Pack or the "Mayhem" (lol) package.

3.31 rear axle ratio for quicker off-the-line acceleration
Mustang GT coupe front and rear stabilizer bars
Mustang GT front struts and rear shocks/springs
Shelby GT500 rear lower control arm
Unique 19-inch wheels
Pirelli performance tires for improved grip
Mustang GT front and rear brake calipers with Performance Friction pads
Strut tower brace for increased body rigidity
Unique electronic stability control calibration with sport mode for performance driving
Unique badging

Try to swing a 2010 GT. They're like $12-15k on average. IF not just get a 06+ 350Z/G35, its better than a 05-09 all around in every way. Depreciated like rocks too for a sports car. You might dislike how it drives though, they're very love or hate cars.
>>
Thing is, the 2005 GT is cheaper than a 2012 V6. The GT will run me about 9-10k, while the V6 is around 14-16k and are all sold by dealers in my area, so add taxes and junk fees. The GT's tend to have comparable milage, believe it or not. All the V6 mustangs have insanely high milage for their age, for some reason. It just seems like the GT is more value. Am I wrong?
>>
>>15939033
Damn, that's a lot of stuff. What makes the 05-09 GTs worst than the 2010?

I wanna stay away from the G35 and 350Z because they seem to be more expensive to repair.
>>
>>15939036
That's because they're all ex-rentals, moron.
V6 mustangs are owned by either rental companies or teenage girls who didn't service them once in the 2-3 years they owned them.

Stop being a fucking moron and buy a coyote GT.
>>
>>15939043
Are you fucking kidding?

You're wanting to buy a car but you don't know why one year model is worth more than the others, despite that year being the change over to a large refresh?

And now you're worried about fucking REPAIR COSTS on top of tire costs?

What you want is a fucking minivan, faggot. Cheap tyres, cheap to repaid and hold their value good. Enjoy.
>>
>>15939048
I suspected that. It certainly explains the selection.

>>15939057
I thought the update was in 2011. That's why I named the thread "2005-2010 GT".

I was going through the same dilema last year when I was car shopping. I ended up buying a 2006 Mustang GT because all 2011 v6 performance pack Mustang's were hard to find and almost $15k compared to the $9000-$10000 of a 3v 4.6.

foxbody and save/invest the rest

Get a GT, a few tenths of benchracing doesn't matter, the exhaust note matters to you.
>>
Get the V6.

Pros
>Same power
>Modern tech and accessories
>Better build quality and design
>Superior chassis design and handling
>Looks better IMO

Cons
>Plebs will make fun of your V6
>Higher insurance since it's newer
>>
>>15939920
The v6 is the same chassis.
>>
>>15939924

This is true. Handling is still superior though.
>>
Based Cyclone 3.7
Get the V6 OP
>>
I'd get a G35/350z. I sat in a gt500 and the interior rivalled that of a cheap truck and the shifter felt like moving a stick through a box of rocks.

it's the same

it's the same (except brembo models)

vastly improved

I've owned 3 mustangs from this generation, newer v6's are a better daily but the old v8's are still faster and cheaper to buy.
All models including performance pack still handle like dogshit stock so it doesn't really matter you'll wanna upgrade suspension anyway.
>>
>>15940035
It defeats the purpose of the car, it's like buying an automatic Miata then wondering why everybody thinks you're retarded

>what is a dd where you buy the best deal you can get

I'm tired of all the faggots on here who had daddy by them whatever they wanted. I don't hate on any cars if they're clean, driven right and taken care of. You're an insecure little bitch if you have to come on here to take your anger out on others for what they're stuck with driving, especially if they bought it themselves and take care of it.
>>
As somebody who DD's a 2005 GT and often drives a friends 06 350z. Just get the 350z. It's better and for a sports car it's very reliable.
>>
>>15940134
What exactly makes you say that a 350z will make for a better car?
>>

Consensus on the new generation Stangs?

I love the IRS and the Coyote
>>
>>15940522
It's slower in a straight line since it's heavier and has irs. Good on the track. Still a mustang you decide if that's a pro or con.
>>
>>15940515

Some of you guys are insufferable.

I drive in snow, so it would be helpful.
>>
>>15940597
Actually it'll fuck you most times. It will sense slip, brake the wheels and not deliver any power. You're better off practicing pedal control and turning it off.
>>
>>15940597
That's not what traction control is for. All traction control does is create understeer and keep you from doing burnouts.
>>
>>15940103
Come to va or nc and you'll find one for less than 5k guaranteed
>>
Op as the owner of a 10 gt I can tell you that with the gt you get more torque which will not only be more forgiving when moving from stationary but will also get you moving faster than a v6 will. The horsepower will be similar but acceleration will also be better on the gt.
>>
>>15940051
>implying owning any miata doesn't make you retarded
>>
>>15940637
Then is that what stability control is for?
>>
>>15940509
Not if you have 5k and a v8 is 6k and a v6 is 4500
>>
Is it a good idea to pick up a 2005 GT with 80,000 miles for 8.5k and use it as my only car and daily drive it?

Not him, but I bought an 07 gt and I absolutely love it.
I went from a shitbox 02 v6 mustang to the 07 so I can't compare the 07 to a newer one, however it's all I really need. It handles just fine (for a muscle car) and will smoke SIs, i paid some $9.1k with 80k miles and with regular maintenance, only the alternator has recently fucked up at 104k. Aside from that, mileage you can expect some 15-17 for city, and upwards of 20-21 for highway, sitting on 18s, tires are roughly 100 each.
>>
>>15940972
That only means stop being poor

>>15941027

Honestly, I am happy with the purchase. I bought it for $9,900 back in July 2015 as my first car. It had 93k miles and has almost 109k now. I drive this thing HARD. I drive it like I stole it pretty often, I've cruised at 140mph for hours combined and I gas it on the onramp pretty often. It has never once let me down. NOTHING has fucked up on me except an alternator ( that was the original one since 06 ) and a $60 throttle position sensor that took 15 minutes to remove from the throttle body. It runs like a champ man. The only time it has been broken for more than one day was when I broke something or when I fuck with it. I've taken this trip on long road trips and driven it through torrential hurricanes. This thing has heritage man.

I've done the air intake, full exhaust with longtubes and an currently saving for a centri blower. Currently putting down about 310whp. I've done a bunch of other maintenance stuff such as brakes, plugs, fluids, steering linkage etc etc to ensure it lasts a very long time. I hoon it like an idiot but I take care of it as well. Everything on this car is easy and simple to do. Not to mention parts are easy to find.

Anyways, I don't regret this car. I would LOVE a Coyote instead but they were 18k at the cheapest back then. Now they are 16k at the cheapest.
>>
The V6 is cheaper and sounds better.
>>
>>15942797
No. Moved to Florida though
>>
>>15942797
Retired from the police department at 109k
>>
>>15942967
You spent $10k on a nearly 10 year old Mustang with nearly 100k on it?

The fuck?
>>
>>15943255
For a GT, that's about what they go for.
>>
>>15943255
That's how much the cars ran for man. Especially the 5spds fully loaded.
>>
I drive an sn-95, anyone know how the later models compare in terms of space and headroom? im not a very tall guy or a lardass but its weirdly cramped in there
>>
Are the '05+ Mustangs noticeably higher quality than the older ones? I drive a 2004 GT and the interior quality (unchanged since 1994) is East-German tier. I mean it's a 2004 midpriced sports coupe and it's worse inside than a 1990 import compact.
>>
>>15943487
>sports coupe
Why does nobody seem to know that Mustangs are grand touring cars? They're not sports cars and they're not muscle cars.
>>
>>15943487
The interior is very comfy. Especially if you don't mess with the exhaust or the suspension or anything.

I think it looks nice too. Everything is plasticy but it looks very nice. The 2011s interior looks and feels even better but the 05 interior is very, very basic in a good way in my opinion.
>>
>>15942967
Im seriously considering getting one of these GTs.

Im used to driving cars with less than 200hp and i dont plan on modding it for power.
Should i go for one of those GTs or just spend the extra and get a used older Coyote?
>>
>>15938927
>bad taste
>>
>>15943581
Dawg, if you have the means to get a 2011 GT, DO IT. Get one with under 80k miles. You'll love. Yes, it's worth the nearly extra $7,000+ over the 4.6 3v GT. I love my 06 GT but I spend a lot of time in a 2011 GT as well.

>way better engine with significantly more potential and power
>6 speed tranny, albeit Chinese
>interior looks better, better feel and trim
>suspension is slightly better, more so with the track pack with the brembo brakes

Well 110$ to be exact on tires, plus installation, and they're all weather, haven't bought any performance ones yet and probably won't, but the alternator cost me 220 after taxes at AutoZone

Swing the newer GT. If that is totally out of range get the newer V6. Last option would be the older GT
>>
>>15943689

People will make fun of you for getting the V-6, V-6 Mustangs are often abused and/or neglected more than V-8s, the V-8 sounds better, but the newer car will be a tad more comfy.
>>
>>15947337
That seems to be the case, from what I've seen on that market. The V8s have fairly low milage and have thorough descriptions, while all the V6 cars have insane milage and the descriptions say next to nothing.

>tremec tr3650 vs getrag mt-82
you're the one who doesn't know shit
"hurr moar gears"
the 5th gear in the tremec and the 6th in the getrag are almost the same ratio, the fifth gear in the getrag is just a step in between. When racing you wouldn't hit fifth with either transmission unless you have an absurdly long runway.
In terms of strength, they're not that far off either. You boost your car past 700hp you're gonna be stepping up to a T56 or TR6060 (I know there are guys who run that kind of power with the 3650 or t56 but from experience they don't last long)

Also the suspension is identical in design. All the parts can be swapped back and fourth between all 05-14 models. The performance packs have slightly stiffer dampers, a strut tower brace and other random shit that doesn't make that big of a difference.
The fundamental suspension design (front McPherson, rear 3-link LRA) is THE EXACT SAME.

You want a vast performance increase you'd have to completely overhaul the suspension with aftermarket dampers, control arms, watts link etc.

Or ditch the old setup for a Grigg's SLA setup or something.

TLDR you're an idiot, you have no idea what you're talking about.
I've owned three of these cars, any of which would smoke whatever bus you're riding.
