Why do so many cars (M2, Focus RS, Golf GTI Clubsport) come with gay 'overboost' settings that enable more power for a few seconds? Why isn't it just all go all the time?
>>
>>15934583
desu 30 seconds is enough
>>
>>15934592
Why even 30 seconds? If I buy a car with a set amount of power it should have it without me having to press a stupid button to tell it to be as fast as it should be.
>>
German engineering, the engine would explode.
>>
>>15934600
I'm not sure what you're getting at? You feel cheated?
You are told in the sales literature that it has an overboost function so you shouldn't.
Maybe if the car is advertised at 200hp and makes 170hp you should.
>>
in case you need nos...these cars top out at 140mph...
>>
>>15934617
If the car is capable of producing the power on its stupid boost setting its capable of producing it whenever it likes, so why not make it have that power all the time?
>>
>>15934679
It would overheat.
>>
>>15934679
>what is wear
You're probably one of those guys that thinks you can thrash around a remapped engine everytime you drive and expect it to last as much as if it was running a stock map.
>>
>>15934679
You realize that most stock engines aren't capable of handling to kind of power we can make today right?
I mean by all means take factory parts on a factory tune using factory oils, put it to 30 pounds of boost and tell me how far you get.
These cars were build for regulations, I think modern GTI's see top speeds at 150, it's not even track ready out of the box.
How fucking autistic are you?
>>
>>15934764
>>15934772
>>15934810
If it can't handle an extra 30bhp don't let me do it at all then.
>>
>>15934823
Its doing it enough to get you to you're desired speed a little faster, to give you that thrill of the road without having to do all these aftermarket things, even if it's just for a few seconds.
If you don't like it change it, or just buy a whole other car altogether and quit whining that it isn't godly out of the box.
>>
>>15934823
you can tune it to remove the overboost function and have it at the low power setting all the time, if you like
>>
>>15934679
To get better mileage and emissions for daily driving. You can get full power whenever you want, i don't see the problem
