1500 bhp produced reliably in a racing environment without relying on a hybrid system to artificially boost the total. Could it be done with today's modern tech for a 24 hour race?
In the 1980s, these engines weren't the most reliable. But that was 30 years ago.
LMPs do 1000hp all day long nigga
That thing only ran in qualifying.

Single turbo LS will put out 1500 horse all day long.

Porsche had a twin-turbo flat-12 in can am that made about that much
with modern tech it might hold up for 24 hours
but its more of a "ya dont know until you try" kinda deal
alot of fiddling around with the setup would be required to get it to do that

The 917 was 1200hp
>>15918799
No it won't.

>1500 bhp produced reliably in a racing environment
An out lap, a flying lap and an in lap isn't a racing environment. These 1500hp cars from '86 used several turbos and an engine per qualifying session. 850-900hp in races was the norm.

Of course.
A 15 litre V8 would have no trouble.

The 787B ran around 700 hp and won le mans, and they famously turned the boost down for economy. Before that it made around 900hp. Throw another rotor or two in there, modern vgts, race spec porting and apex seals and 1500hp for 24h might be possible.

The 787B was N/A m8

considering the anon mentioned "race spec porting and apex seals" in his post why did you take it seriously?
>>15918756
fuck that's an ugly car.

>reliably
yeah after a flying lap they swapped engines
>>15918707
That thing. Was a pile of shit that ate engines like potato chips and hardly ever finished a race.
Wasnt reliable at all.
BMW a shit
