bike died as I was backing into the garage today. Think I stalled t. Well, it wouldn't start again, electric or kick starter. Turns over fine, just doesn't ignite. Waited an hour and tried again, same deal. Pulled the plugs.

What do you think?

airbnb is usually better than a hotel in my opinion
it's expensive as fuck buy you shouldn't be shocked coming from NZ

find an airbnb near a BART (train) station and you can get all over the Bay and right into downtown SF really fast.

Fixing it is all part of the fun. Unfortunately this means I now have no bikes to ride because I'm replacing my Kawasakis clutch cable and one of the screws holding the clutch plate on is frozen fuckingnsolid. Got JIS screwdrivers and everything.

Anyways, any ideas on the Ural? I cleaned the plugs up with some sandpaper but no dice

What kind of ignition system does the Ural have, points or electronic? What does your factory service manual suggest? What do Ural forums suggest?

Do you have power to your ignition coils?

They are cool bikes but asking Ural questions on 4chan is either desperate or silly.

I wanted to like it but a lot of stuff is coming wrong, completely non adjustable front suspension? seriously? why even bother with USD forks if you can't even fucking change the preload.

I like the idea of a small 200% handling sportbike but that's not what this is.

Maybe if they siphoned a bit of the edgy fairings budget into stuff that matters on the bike it wouldn't be such a joke.

TriCare is the basically-medical-insurace umbrella we fall under. They subcontract to companies like United Concordia for dental, but they generally take care of everything if you're active duty or in an active status. When you go from Active Duty to the Guard or Reserve, then things can get weird, since nobody talks to anybody else unless you call 18 times and submit Arcane Form AF59872345B rev 29871u54 and have everyone from your supervisor to POTUS sign it in triplicate digitally with a specific version of their certificates, etc.

DEERS is basically the ID card/duty status/dependent(s) tracking/other random shit system. Your shit can be in order in one location, and completely fucked up in another even though it's supposed to be one system. TriCare uses it to verify whether or not your eligible for whatever you're trying to get done.

Missed all of the last day's threads because I went to help a buddy do his first out of warranty work on a weestrom. If you ever wonder why a suzuki engine is missing torque, it's probably because they spent it all installing the bolts. Blog tiem:

>replacing both sprockets and the chain
>the part for interfacing with the speed sensor is supposed to be removed with a 6mm allen key
>putting stupid amounts of force into this key to get it loose
>find 1ft lever for my hydraulic jack
>20min to get one cunt of a bolt out
>finally exposed the 32mm bolt holding on the front sprocket
>attach new socket we spent $12 on to the breaker bar, it all fits
>won't move
>try and try stuff for 40min to get this bar to shift it
>old broken torque wrench bar wedged between the swingarm and wheel to hold it in place because we're driving the wheel through the rear brake
>still can't budge the thing, either we can't get enough force on or the socket slips off the nut because the bar is millimetres away from touching the fairing
>grab a 6in breaker bar
>thing just slips more
>have to cradle the extension bar in one hand, push on the breaker with the other
>I am a lever and the world is my fulcrum
>popped that fucker open
>sweet victory
>rear wheel took no time
>take chain apart, replace front and rear sprocket
>put rear wheel back on, install new chain, fix master link
>chain is too long, dragging on swingarm
>another half an hour getting the master link off without destroying it or the chain
>line up old chain and new chain on garage floor, there's only an inch difference in length
>wut
>decide it's time to call it for the night since it's nearly 10pm and it was only one person jobs left

Wrenching is hard work when they overtorque everything from the factory. Pic related, front sprocket wasn't too far from being in this state.
>>
>>15908228

Guys is it okay for a motorcycle battery to be charged from empty in 2 hours?

I bought one from Canadian Tire but they don't store them with the acid in them, so they pour it in and charge it and you pick it up later, but it seems too quickly to charge it properly. Battery was dead like 2 weeks after ownership and I think it's because they fugged the charging up.

Thinking about just returning it.

It does not matter who you buy from. Distributor pricing is controlled and bound by MSRPs and MAPs. It's highly unlikely you're going to find a better deal on one site versus the other.

I personally like to buy from sportbiketrackgear.com because the owner is personable and makes a lot of helpful YouTube videos (his name is Brian Van - check him on YouTube) about motorcycle maintenance and upgrades. He seems like a nice family guy and I rather give him my money than some fucking heebs over at Amazon or revzilla.

Heavy, overpriced, underpowered, "culture" surrounding them is awful, etc. Sportsters aren't bad, and modern Harley's aren't THAT awful, quality-wise, but they're not great either. Hey guise, how do you wash your baiku?
What kind of sponge do you use, and what kind of mixture of soap/water/solution/etc. do you use?

I wash it like a normal car but take care to re lube the chain afterwards.

I use a non splatter lube as well.

I use an old t-shirt I cut into rags and I give a pretty big squirt of dish detergent into an old coffee tin

Plus to be completely honest I don't trust the R3 stock tires all that much.

I want to buy a vintage bike to learn on, because you can get them reasonably cheap (for Australia). But the bike I'm looking at has drum brakes.
>How much would it be to change drum brakes to disc brakes?

>>15909118
Just ride the drums, you only live when you're close to death and everyday you'll truly be living

The drum brakes are probably fine.
If you really care about performance at all you would get an early 2000's beginner bike for dirt cheap.

Can anyone help me choose a new handlebar and handguard set for my DR350?
I'm going through ProTaper, Renthal, and Moose Racing's websites but have no fuckin clue what model/bend to get. They have so many different names but no preview images and the listed dimensions don't really help. I want a crossbar. I'm also riding mostly street; my stock handlebars don't really feel comfortable when I stand but I never need to stand for my riding/

As for handguards, I'm thinking Moose Contours. Barkbuster JET looks affordable too.

I use the ProTaper EVO on my DR650. It doesn't have a crossbar, but it's strong as hell. I mean, I've rekt on dirt, rock, and pavement and the bars are fine. Bent the shit out of the mounting bolts, if that tells you anything about the bar itself.

yeah he's great.

I've been totally sold on the efficacy of motogymkhana by his performance on track too, he was very fast despite not practicing on any twisty roads (due to fear of losing license again)

We need to work on his body position but he was quick, so I'm doubling down on cone practice and not being lazy with it from now on, I'm convinced more than ever low speed informs high speed.

The main issue is it's hard to drum up interest in motogymkhana, it's not easy, in fact it's really fucking hard. The first time you go around a tight motogymkhana course with your hand off the clutch you are shitting bricks and death gripping the bars, the first time I did it I ended out with sore hands at the end of the day just from the clamping force I was exerting on the bars. But it's not "cool" like wheelies so people aren't interested in trying it again after finding it hard as hell.

I wish they would though, they don't know what they're missing out on. We're struggling to find good spots to practice (our current location sucks), to get locations you need interest and numbers, that simple, we don't have that.

I've got a DR350 and it's not the best bike for my kind of riding but I spent so damn long looking for a DS and the prices are higher in my region so part of me wants to see how long I can keep that beast around.
It had 7 previous owners and I got it with 6300 miles, I've almost put on 1k miles so I'd feel really guilty selling it. It deserves a good home.
Damn senpai you made me tear up

I live with my parents, and I still have to pay them like 350 a month to live with them. My dad puts that shit into a savings or something. An apartment here averages 500-800 a month so what am I gonna do? Even if I live with my gf, I still gotta pay up to 400 bucks a month to live in Lex. Plus all my other bills to take care of us. Shit sucks, minimum wage sucks, hours of work sucks. 2 and a half years left though and I graduate. Probably gonna take some mechanical engineering co-ops every 2 semesters so might take a lil longer. Pretty hype for next year to be honest, might be enough money and experience to work and train/earn degree in another, more favorable state. University of KY has an amazing co-op program

Yeah, but the problem is that I'm not looking at a private school to attend. Something like the University of Colorado boulder or Uni of WA (where my cousin attends) aren't private schools, so yellow ribbon wouldn't apply. Not to mention the cost of moving my shit to those states would be more than worth. So I just decided to school here.

Your choice senpai but I spend a few weeks at Knox and Kentucky is not where I would want to be. Went to Louisville and it was depressing too. Only redeeming thing was the free mini bat I got from that tour in the slugger factory kek

>was depressing
This entire state is depressing, I will definitely not deny that man.
I was stationed in Campbell, god fucking dammit. Was tagged for alcohol problems twice in 4 years. That's how depressing this state is lol. Even my gf hates this fucking state to no end.
And even though I'm out of the Army now, I still have "problems." Fuck I'm drunk as shit right now and have 2 classes tomorrow. hell yeah. 2 more years and I'm done with this state for fuck-ever. Sorry fellow KY bros, but I cannot stand this state
