So we already know /o/ has M3's, miatas, FRSs and the like, but does anyone own a unique/rare car? It doesn't have to be a limited production car, just ones you don't see very often.
Starting with my '88 Fiero GT. They only made 6000 or so GTs in 1988 before they halted production.
>>
>>15907372

I used to have a 5-speed Audi V8 Quattro. They only shipped 72 of the things over here, and I found one. All for $3500. Plus repair bills of course.

What a piece of shit. Fun car, but what a piece of shit. Also, it is the absolute worst car to google info on, thanks to its oh-so-clever name. It's like they couldn't take 5 seconds to actually name the thing, so they named it after the fucking engine.

95 SHO 5 speed. Actual god machine.
>>
>>15907964
5 speed didn't come stock did it?
>>
>>15907988
In the gen 2's I think the 5 speed was stock and the auto was an option, In the Gen 1's you could only get stick and then gen 3 were auto only but those had a shitty v8
>>
>>15908000
gen 2's all came with 4 speed autos so it must have been a swap from a gen 1, where a 5 speed was an option.
>>
>>15908017
Umm no? Gen 3's only came with auto's and that's when they switched body styles and to the shitty v8.

where did i mention Gen 3's?
>>
>>15908017
>doubting trips

>>
>>15908036
I was telling you that Gen 3's are the only ones where you couldn't get a manual. Gen 2 you could get a 5 speed or an auto. Gen 2 is when they introduced the auto for the SHO, The auto got a 3.2 liter v6 rather than the 3.0 so it had the same torque and HP numbers as the manual.
>>
>>15908054
Actually they may have had more torque but they kept the same HP.
>>
>>15908054
>>15908050

but thats factually incorrect. Gen 3s only came in auto. Gen 2's only came in auto. Gen 1 was the ONLY generation to feature a 5 speed manual. It really isn't hard to look these things up.
>>
>>15908066
my apologies, Gen 2's did have manuals.

They made a little more than 14,000 four door falcon wagons in 1965, but there's no specifications as to how many of certain engines were sold.
Largest engine optioned at the time was the 289-4V (premium fuel) and that's what the vin reads it came with.

But of course now it has a 1968 "J" Code 302 from a 1968 mustang with c80e-f heads, which were only made for that year. supposedly 10.5:1 compression but it's old and its got blow-by so I'd have to through some rings in to get it back.

They made a decent amount of them but they were never really considered desirable classics until real recently, many were junked. The 2 door and panel wagons have always been collectable though.

it's becoming my daily driver, I've replaced a ton of things. Previous owner died in 1997 and it sat until I bought it last year.

It's a couch with a huge steering wheel, an old car with bodyroll and a loud v8 so it's all smiles.
People walk over when I pump gas and ask about it, it's just a fun car to own.
no power steering, windows, or brakes. But the front brakes are dual piston slotted 10 inch rotors so it stops just fine.

Yeah those came with the 302 and sometimes the 351, most of the parts are interchangeable with the other big bodied fords so replacement parts would be no problem.

I actually like the look of those better because its more squared, and there's more room to work with under the hood.
I'd get it.

Discontinued and very few models left running yes.

Is a ford Escort rare? No, there are still tens of thousands of them left.

Is a car that had 5000 units produced 15 years ago with maybe 1/3rd of that still on the road? Yes that is rare.

Also most cars are required to be mass produced to compete in any worth while automotive sport.

Trans ams, fieros, and corvettes of that generation all have a flexible air dam underneath the car that directs air up into the rad.

the issue with this method is the air will go back underneath the car if it's not directed somewhere else, causing a fuckload of lift. I doubt it's bad on a corvette or a firebird but fieros get downright scary to drive at speed due to the instability it causes

>>
>>15909068
I mean the SHO is unique in the fact that it has a yamaha v6 in a taurus and was one of the fastest budget sedans of the 90's. It also has a mazda based trans, has a fancy dual length intake and some fairly trick suspension. So I mean the SHO definitely ticks the unique boxes. It may look like a standard taurus but under the hood its fairly unique.

Mine even snuck into the facebook post about the meet.

In case you have your hopes up, Minnesota Cars and Coffee is taking place on October 8th in Chanhassen from 8AM to 11AM. The guy who owned said half-a-million-miles BMW saw my car and was amazed one survived, since him and his friends used to thrash them around. But you are a while out from the twin cities, so it might not be practical to go.

What area of MN are you in? I'm not too familiar with too many areas outside of the twin cities with dirt roads everywhere. Also, how have you kept your car in such great shape despite the mud getting all over it?
>>
My father has a Chevy Monza. 1979 I think? Ton of custom work done to it. Small block Chevy (non LS), twin turbo, 10 lbs of boost, forged piston heads, had the block bored out from350 to a 383, also made it a stroker.

Married the motor to a T56 transmission out of a Dodge viper. Puts up 580 HP and 650 foot pounds of torque on the dyno. With street tires only, he can do around 11.5 second in the quarter mile.

In top of all this, he still has air conditioning, 2 oil coolers, intercooler, etc. All fits under the stock hood. Dunno if the car is rare, but when he goes to car shows, he always wins "people's choice" or "most unique". Wish I had a pic.
>>
>>15909951

The closest, "biggest" city is Detroit lakes, 20ish miles from me. Also, I wash it every couple weeks. Just some cheapo sponge. Get the mud off with the rougher side then polish it back up with the soft side. Good car soap is a miracle.

My "79" camaro "z28". I know the vehicle year make and model itself isn't uncommon per se but this specific one is. I put the year and trim in quotes because it's not technically either of those things, it's started out as a rusted out 79 camaro sport coupe and some guy stripped it all the way down and replaced everybody panel with rust free ones from different years and trim levels so Its a complete Frankenstein. The interior is redone in black leather with a z28 trim levels, but has the dashboard from like an 81. The engine is a built up 350 with a corvette intake manifold now and it's got a 3 speed power glide tranny. No paint on it either of course

Here's mine. Looks like a typical 20+ year old POS rustang that a bad secretary or a high schooler would drive. It has ugly tail lights, and it looks like some asshole ripped out the driving lights.

I like it that way.

It's one of the 1995 R cars, originally one of 250, now probably one of of a little over two hundred since they're slowly getting used up.

I like the fact that it's innocuous. I can get away with more shenanigans that way.
