Good choice OP. You have to be a seriously insecure person to worry about how "girly" a car is. Abarths have good handling and enough power in a small package. Though, If I would have to get a FWD hatch, a Gen 2 Mazdaspeed 3 would be a far better choice.

It's not like 135hp is not enough for a car that small, it's more of a "there are more powerful versions than mine" thing.
You can remap it to hell and back tho on the same turbo/fmic.
There are 500s running north of 300hp with stock internals.

There's a video of jay leno's garage that features a guy that tunes 500 Abarths.
He explicitly says those engines are overbuilt and can handle much more than what they come out from the factory with.
