That is obviously the front half shaft and that looks to be a sleeve welded into the axle.
This is pretty common to do when engine swaps are being done so you don't have to make custom length half shafts.

I'll tell you what I've accomplished today.

>Drank 3 shooters of grape pucker upon awakening
>Fed my little sister's horses when I was down visiting my ma's house
>Went for a drive back home
>Made spaghetti and ate 5 servings
>Watched a couple movies
>Drank vodka & squirt, ~half a 5th
>Walked around the village for a bit
>Came home and had a burger
>Cleaned out my van some, did some organizing
>Going to go finish the spaghetti and pass out

Tomorrow's agenda is damn near identical. Instead of vodka it'll be bourbon or whiskey with coke. Undecided at this time.

I might go up to the pick n pull and see if I can get a dimmer switch module for my pile of GM garbage. The thing that controls lights/interior lights no longer turns my interior lights off when I open the doors.

Probably wake up early accidentally tomorrow though. I've been sleeping 12-14 hours a day.
