Mercedes does this in all their cars, and has been doing this in their cars. That stitching pattern is very well known for Merc, way moreso than Audi.

Although Bentley is pretty well known for it too, mainly Merc.

Your only legitimate complaint in that ramble was the steering wheel, I am not a big fan. But considering it is an S550 and pure luxury, I am not expecting a flat bottom sporty steering wheel like in their AMGs.
