I've never even had one of those ever, and my passenger didn't bring em.
Hmm.
>>
>>15888034
man, you dun goof'd as I'm sure you're probably aware of by now

sounds like you have decent cash reserves, so that's good. Hopefully you can get back on the road soon. Never crashed any of my cars, but I've been hit a couple times and it's a gut wrenching feeling.

I've always made a point of bringing the car back stronger whenever something breaks, maybe that's the opportunity you have here.

To be honest, the frame is probably fuked beyond repair m8. At least beyond reasonable cost of repair. Part it out. Buy a high mileage, but good condition AP1. Use that as the daily for the time being. Tear down the F22, bob the builder it, and swap it in when you're ready. You'll come back stronger and with some engine building experience.
>>
>>15888121
Yeah we'll see how it goes man. Thanks
If repairs are 10k, should I do it? I bought it for 18, worth like 25 here, so I'd lose a bit, but not as much as just ripping the engine

>>
>>15888142
that's gonna be more than $10k in repairs I can nearly guarantee that. Even if it is 10k and the repairs are decent, you wouldn't be able to sell it for 25. I would think you would have a hard time selling it for 15. You'll have to do some research on that to make a decision. I don't know that much about s2k's, so i'm pretty much talking out of my ass, but I would say part it out and you could recover 3-5k from it. The 2.2 is probably worth 2 grand or close to that by itself.

What the fuck are you going to do with a new windshield, put it on your race car bed? The unibody is folded, the car will never be on the road again stupid millennial
>>
>>15888204
The only frame damage is what you see on the windshield and a little tweak on the very very front, not even to the wheels. The front I'm not worried about, it's all that windshield pillar.
So do you know, or just wanna shitpost?
>>
>>15888191
yeah, transmission for sure would be worth decent cash if it's still good.

Extensive structural damage like that I have never had to grasp the cost for. I know that when my FA5 had just the rear quarter panel and a small amount of frame damage, the bill came to $6k.

My auto body experience is very limited, but I'm assuming that safely rebuilding the a-pillars and windscreen on a convertible (where it is especially crucial to body rigidity) is going to be much more expensive than the $6k for a rear quarter on a honda civic. Although, you may be able to reduce cost with cheap aftermarket frame parts, but probably not a good idea. Basically the entire car would need to be repainted if you wanted to do things right, so another 2-3k there for a proper paint job. So, being very generous, just the windscreen and paint you're already close to 10k.

Then you'll need a hood, then say you later discover the upper radiator mount is fucked, then the subframe isn't sitting quite right...it can quickly turn into a very expensive road to go down. Once you start, you pretty much have to see it through to the end too
>>

>>
>>15888416
Not even. Maybe at a premium shop. Try taking a look at the body parts you need first. Bumper, fenders, hood, radiator, etc. Don't look for oem parts unless you're trying to spend more. With that total you'll have a better idea of cost. Ask around body shops for estimates. The windshield isn't exactly body work, that could be looked into at windshield repair places, I'd even try asking at the ones they got at pick n pull.
And again, try not to get it salvaged. Don't report it to your insurance. For flipping a car, based on your pics, this was not bad at all. At most, with aftermarket parts and a decent shop, it really shouldn't cost you more than 3-5k. There are tons of body shops, you don't have to pay a premium to get good results
>>
>>15888476
Panels including bumper would cost like 1500, not counting labor. Radiator, Idk. Lights, I wouldn't get OEM but I forget, something tells me it was 250? (Researched it a while ago but dropped it upon the thought of leaving her stock)

Fixing this car would be like straightening a crushed soda can. Even if you somehow hacked on some body panels the car will never be able to be aligned correctly. I was talking about the S2000, the civic is an even more obvious lost cause. You can see where the unibody is compromised on the S2000 where the top of the driver door meets the front fender. It will never be back on the road, not even the shadiest body shop would touch a safety issue like that with a 10 foot pole.

OPs car looks salvageable. It'll never be showroom nice again but I'd drive it after making an attempt to get a window back in.

OP, take it in for an alignment. You don't truthfully need a windshield. Just wear a full face helmet.

If they can align the vehicle it's still good to go and worth trying to get back to being road worthy.

Frosty has already become a legend.

CVPI.. No.

>Just wear a full face helmet.
Try this, go to an auto shop with a full face helmet on, lower a car from the rack onto your head. If you can balance it there a helmet may suffice in a rollover, but probably still wouldn't because there's more force than just the resting weight of the car when you flip at speed

OP is completely screwed in a rollover mate. Doesn't matter if he's only 5'4".

The full face helmet is to protect his eyes and face from 80mph bugs.

Hell, full bike gear and no seatbelt. He might get lucky and survive another rollover then.

>helmet protects the face from shit flying in while trail riding

>>15888884
Well, as some have said it's good to learn on this. From now on any car I have over 15000, I look deeply into fool coverage

This gives me an idea though, chop the A-frame off and put a full cage in like the pic

would make a p cool track weapon like
>>15885483

and no need to worry about dying in a roll again
>>
>>15888938
good news: you didn't have to file a claim so you've got no new claim history
bad news: there's probably a police report

I pay like $70 a month for my insurance, it's a decent amount but I wouldn't be able to drive knowing that I could be completely on the hook for damage to my car.
>>
>>15888944
That's actually not a horrible idea, at least check it out to see what it would cost

Update: Got her to start after charging the battery, quite a bit of smoke comming out of the exhaust though, so i shut her down for the moment. No smoke from engine bay, allllll from exhaust. should i attempt starting again?
>>
>>15889259
Definitely, worst case scenario you spin a main bearing or throw a rod, what do you have to lose?
>>
>>15889272
the engine itsself seems to be in pretty good condition, only damage being to the top of the radiator, but obviously im not driving this far, just onto the back of a trailer. i'll go give her another whirl
>>
>>15889284
Well if you visually inspected the engine from the outside and it looks pretty good then you have nothing to worry about
>>
>>15889300
right, started right up the 2nd time. Smoke started to fade out, as expected.
New problem: coolant resovoir was pushed a bit with the frame, so the hose doesnt quite reach the radiator. Not terrible as im not running it long, but an obvious issue and more frame damage that i didnt see.

What should i swap an F22C engine in if this doesn't work out?
>>
>>15889259
Smoke might be due to oil seeping into the pistons while it was upside down.
>>
>>15889325
His point is that you flipped the engine. That's not good for it. They're designed to stay one orientation. What color is the smoke
>>
>>15889326
yeah we think so too.
>>15889339
is was light, almost a light blue, but mainly white
It never totaly stopped, but it died down immensely. and if its any corolation, my brother fuckered a 1984 truck by swamping water in the intake a while ago, and that truck smokes WAY more than this car.

>>
>>15889436
Kek, it all worked anyhow. Literally no physical damage to anything behind the radiator

>>15889395
Blue is oil. That's not a good thing m8.
>>
>>15889436
Nobody is going to get through to this guy, may as well watch how it unfolds
>>
>>15889443
without the oil pan being damaged or filter damaged or anything, how could oil interact? How would a crack develop inside the engine, when nothing hit outside the engine?
>>
>>15889472
>get through to this guy
about what? I'm taking it to a shop just not for the moment
>>
>>15889476
Imagine if you had a cup full of water worth a coffee filter over it. No water would Seep out, and you wouldn't really care right? Now flip that cup over. Now you have an issue.

This is the same thing except instead of water you have oil and instead of a coffee filter it's your piston rings.
>>
>>15889501
i see what you mean.

this event aside, is it worth taking auto classes just for general knowledge?
>>
>>15889501
Not OP but how would oil seeping into the cylinders be harmful aside from fouling spark plugs and possibly bending rods due to fluid in the cylinders (OP's description kind of suggests this, engine didn't crank well at first).
>>
>>15889533
If you don't care about spending money and spending time going to them, sure. you learn more hands on shit on different kinds of vehicles and how shit works. They'll teach more than general knowledge though.
>>15889534
Hydrolock, screws up the compression of the combustion chamber. Kinda like driving your car in a flooded area but instead of water flooding the combustion chamber it's oil. Piston rings prevent oil from entering the combustion chamber, they don't really seal they act more like baffles, if the engine was flipped over, gravity pulls oil down to the valve cover, through time the oil will seep through past the pistons into the combustion chamber. The more volume of liquid than the cylinders minimum can prevent the compression stroke from completing since liquids are not compressible. It's kinda like drowning.
>>
>>15889501
>>15889476
If there is oil up there you can usually burn it out by letting the car warm up and then holding the throttle at 30% or so of redline, the combustion will get rid of any oil that has managed to get up above the piston. Be sure to put some oil back in though to make up for oil lost
