The car was incredibly well taken care of by its original owner. The VIN said it was a one owner car from 1985 until 2014. The second owner, who I bought it from, told me the first owner was a Honda dealer from North Carolina. Hence it came with plenty of original things such as the keychain (unfortunately not the original key), decorative plate, manuals, gear knob, jack, spare tire, etc.

i probably shouldent be talking though since my em2 is an auto. didn't have the option for manual it was a hand me down. parents wont help me cosign for a car till my em2 dies.

it's the nigger-tier Hero. Very basic functionality. Shoots 1080p wide and that's really all it's good for desu (if you can get it to stay running for longer than a few minutes, that is).

Technically shingu asked first, if he's not sure if he wants it or something, what I can do is post it on ebay for like $0.01 then post the link here tomorrow and whoever gets to it first gets it.

Shingu, if you want it for sure, lemme know and I'll pm you a link to the sale on youtubes

I have the 'K24 reflash' tune you can find online. It's amazing having the VTEC engagement point lowered to 4800rpm. And a decat + 63mm exhaust from headers-back. Doing around 162kw (220hp) at the moment.

Problem is mainly cost and huge non-support of these cars.

I'll join the collage when I find a font-badge - some pikey broke my badges when I parked at work.

Took the little red CRX to the shop to have it looked at. It was closed, but the manager was there wrenching on his cars. He was blown away by its condition and mileage for its age, and estimated a Honda guy would probably pay $4000-$4500 for it. And when I brought it home, our neighbors came to have a look at, talking about how they all rotted away years ago.

But when I was at the Doug meet, the ricers were hovering around this thing like vultures, asking when I was gonna start modding it, what I was gonna do first, etc.

To be clear, there will be no mods done to it. Only replacement parts and stickers.

I did start sputtering one night on my toogay so I hauled was to Exxon without braking on the curves.

keep the stock air box, do a drop in K&N, tune with flashpro. A really good cold air intake like one from Hybrid Racing will get you 7-10 whp, but it's kinda pricey and puts you at risk for hydrolock (which speaking from experience, is not all that difficult to accomplish).

Race header and 3 inch exhaust is good for about 10-15 whp...

but if you really want gains you need to roll on down to Harry's and buy a stroker, huge turbo kit, and nos....one of the big bottles. No, make it two. And play this song while ordering parts:

Hello,

New driver here, was looking for my first car when the Civic caught my eye.
Mainly because I like the 90s design of the Civic, because they're cheap and upkeep doesn't seem like hell and will not dry out my wallet.

Ideally I would get a '89 EF sedan, but those are quite rare here so I'm looking at both sedans and hatchbacks.
1.4, 1.5 and 1.6
The one I checked out recently was a '96 hatch with a 1.5i VTEC-E engine.
The owner kept it in good condition and recently replaced ignition coil, brakes and some kind of caps (can't translate it to english).
All the papers seem to be in check in the last major check up was 3 months ago, the owner is asking 600 euros for it which seems like a fair price to me.
Do mind I'm very new to cars and that's why I'm here to ask you guys questions about the Civic.
Is there any pros and cons between a hatch and a sedan?
How much time and money would it take to fix the rust on the car ( its only on the exterior)?
Is Civic a good first car?
Are upkeep and parts expensive and hard to get by?

I'm really not a big fan of the stock shift knob in my Accord. Most aftermarket ones are metal which sounds like a nightmare in extreme heat/cold. Any suggestions for something comfy?
>>
>>15888442
Sedan is better if you have friends or family to drive around, easier access to the back seats too. Hatches handle better and are lighter. It depends how you fix it. Bondo is the cheapest route that will cost around $100 by yourself and cutting rusty bits and welding new metal will cost in the thousands due to labor. The civic is no meme car when it comes to first cars. They're pretty cheap when it comes to cars, oem Honda parts might be hard to get by but you can always buy after market oem spec parts and they're a lot cheaper.
>>
>>15888498
Lets say I'm an idiot and theres a great 4km downhill road with tons of cornerners 15 minutes away from me that leads to a hotel that is only open in the winter as is empty of traffic.
Would the hatch be better for this?
Would the hatch be better for messing around in general?
>>
>>15888470
I think mugen has shift knobs that are leather and comfy but they're expensive. I used to like aftermarket shift knobs until I fell for the meme. It was all metal and it was like what you said, bad in extreme weather. I went back to stock and loved it more than ever. Also it doesn't look tacky too. I think your shifter looks fine. What's your complaint exactly?
Join the collage btw
>>
>>15888523
Not sure if subtle fun posting but yes hatch would be the better choice. Weight is the biggest factor when it comes to performance
>>
>>15888530
It's too skinny and doesn't feel comfortable to palm grip.

How do I join the collage? Post a picture of my car with food on it?
>>
>>15888547
Thanks for the answers mate.
Since most of my peers don't have a car yet I think I'd like to avoid being every ones pick up so hatch seems like the better option.

Another not really Honda specific question but still kinda.
What are the differences between 1.4,1.5 and 1.6 motors?
What does the "i" in 1.5i stand for?
and "E" in VTEC-E?
>>
>>15888550
Functionally a dildo shifter would be good but that'sretty gay. Try looking around eBay.

Yea pretty much. Make sure you let me know the year and upload another photo you want to use for the collage.
>>
>>15888560
The numbers basically mean engine displacement size. Its actually a unit of measure, lower case "L" as in liters. E in vtec-e is for economy, basically slower than a non-vtec motor.
>>
>>15888601
So then what stock Civic would get me the most speed out of its engine?
If I understand corectlly, VTEC-E is worse then a non VTEC engine, but a VTEC is better than a standard one.
>>
>>15888628
Yes, that is correct

Got a truck. Should be able to work on the car more now that I have something else to drive. Its kinda funny, both of them go 300 miles on a tank but the truck is 26 gallons while the car is 11 gallons
>>
>>15889420
What are you planning on doing with the civic m8?
>>
>>15889420
I don't know shit about trucks but I do know those old Rams are the Honda of trucks.

My hatch spoiled me. I don't think I could daily a car with less than 30mpg city anymore. If I were buying a new car it'd probably end up being a fucking Mitsubishi Mirage or something. Kek
>>
>>15889430
I won't sell the car unless I go completely broke. I'd probably sell the truck before I sold the civic tbqh

>>15889434
I got kinda lucky with buying this truck, it was actually my first car when I was 16 and I sold it to my dad but he didn't ever drive it so I bought it back since I need something to pull my girlfriend's horse trailer, and I wanted a truck anyway. It only has 110k miles and a healthy 5.2L V8.

not trying to shill, but I used one of these and I loved it.

PWJDM is perma-out of stock for the 370z spec ones with the little flare that meets up with the OE shift boot. Got a Honda threaded one, used it in a TSX and it was pretty dope. Tried to drill it out and helicoil it into my G35, its still too high but it feels so-so, probably due to height.

If you don't like hot/cold shift knobs, get something that's made of plastic/polymer/delrin or whatever. Could always get the spoon one, they're TEENY though.

Yeah I also have a uv5r I keep in my car. My mobile is a yaesu ft-1900r with a diamond 1/2 wave vhf antenna.

At 4ft long the antenna is quite obnoxious but with my radio transmitting at full output of 50W I can hit repeaters over 45 miles away which is pretty cool.

I also have a dual band mag mount antenna I'll put on the trunk and connect to my baofeng for distance driving when I want to monitor multiple frequencies.

I don't think I can drive a modern car without taking a long time to get used to it. Drove my manager's 2013 (?) Hyundai Sonata and I couldn't see a damn thing. It needed a backup cam but didn't have one. Though driving a 9th gen Civic wasn't so bad. Views were good and it had a backup camera so I wasn't too nervous to drive it.

>>15890988
Mine came with an alarm that I keep armed all the time. Though they do background checks on anyone that moves into this complex so I don't have much to worry about despite whites being a minority here.
>>
>>15891007
I suppose I just got used to cars being huge now. I've got a 9th gen Si, and I like the back up camera and the one side view camera under the passenger side. Wish Honda put it on both.
>>
>>15891007
That's pretty neat. Whites are the majority here, but I heard from my brother that there are circles that jack and chop up older civics, so I'm considering investing in a Lojack.
>>
>>15890979
Which one? Des Plaines here
>>
>>15891057
A lot farther northwest than that lol. Near crystal lake.
>>
>>15891019
Even the fifth gen sedans are longer than my hatch so it's kind of an unfair comparison. The newest car I've owned was a 2000 Jetta. lol

>>15891033
My alarm is pretty basic but I think it's effective. Makes loud noises when the door is opened or something hits it and it's not super sensitive. Also locks the ignition and stops it from being started even with my key.

I'd love to move to a white majority area. I bet my tips would be better and I wouldn't have to worry about being robbed on delivery.

There are two other Pizza Huts in my city and I can confirm the customers in my area are the biggest asshole complainers. Kinda wanna see if I can move to another one that has more middle class neighborhoods. Mine has both the highest class and the lowest class areas. Highest class doesn't order enough to make it worth it.

That's maybe the 3rd or 4th damage the wife is responsible for. Lately she's been telling me to sell the civic and get a newer nicer car . No fucking way that's happening. At least when the civic gets fucked by her and the kids I don't get too pissed. There's no point getting anything nice with how they treat shit
>>
>>15891260
Women always seem to be fixated on the age of the car. At the same time though they treat those newer cars like garbage. The 94 Corolla I bought for my mom is treated like dogshit and it's a disaster inside. At the end of the day my 94 Civic gets me where I need to go with rarely an issue. If there is an issue, it won't bankrupt me like a newer car would.

My mom wants to get a newer car but she's on her own with that one. I got screwed over after buying that for her. If she does get one I'm keeping that Corolla for myself as a backup car.

I suppose it goes with the area you deliver to. I used to work at a gas station where there was an assisted living space which housed immigrants from some middle east shithole. They were often rude, barely spoke english and constantly made messes. One in particular tried to get us to sell her a lighter withoud ID because she "knew the manager" and called her by name. The condition of her car reflected her piss poor attitude with
>trashbag over window
>duct taped mirror
>glued bumper
>dents everywhere

Anyhow, is it true that high class and low class don't tip like middle class?
>>
>>15891492
High class customers are usually big tippers. They don't order as much as the low class ones though.

I worked at a gas station around two years ago.

>filling in for somebody on a Sunday, overnight shift
>working alone because the top managers are too jew to have two on this shift for safety's sake
>filling up the coolers in the back
>this is one of those tiny stores with a door and pumps on each side
>see a customer walk in from inside the cooler, come out
>this nigga tall as fuck and has his face covered
>points a gun at my side, wants all the cash
>do as he says
>he tells me to get on my knees and face the ground
>welp that was a nice life, expecting a bullet to the head
>he runs out the door with $300 because I didn't do a drop
>caught him the next morning because he assaulted somebody with a gun that matched my description
>in prison for 20 years at age 21

That job was NOT worth the $8.25 they were paying me.

Our store was pretty tiny as well, but in a nice area so we didn't have to have the glass over the counter. The bad customers weren't thieves, but they were sometimes crazy. So here's the craziest one.
>customer appreciation day
>construction was going on across the street which killed sales
>had a little stand outside selling a hotdog, bottle of water/can of soda and a bag of chips for $1
>enter your name into a raffle to win t-shirts, a cooler, gift cards, etc.

>only cashier on reg
>old guy comes in w/ hat and sunglasses inside the store
>approches me almost immediately
Let me be clear, I tried my absolute fucking best to understand what this guy was trying to say.
>immediately goes off on some pseudo science tangent
>how he can make adhesive with the gum he was gonna buy
>and how he preffered cinnamon because he liked the smell
>wanted to break change to put it in his spare wheel well loose so it would move around
>something about specific gravity fuck if I know
>gonna use the change to maintain some retarded momentum
>use the glue to lock the brakes
>at this point he's backed up five customers so I insist he pay
>complies reluctantly and hands me a fucking hundred
>for two packs of gum
>oh_boy_here_we_go.PNG
>can't break a hundred with just fives and ones
>now the manager's involved
>get change for it and ring it up
>"now how 'bout I get a hundred in ones?" and hands me another fucking hundred
>manager declines and I hand his change back
>he hands his change back to me and asks for tens back
>have to point out he can't do that since he doesn't have enough for $100 in tens after his purchase
>customers getting weirded out
>manager puts her foot down and tells him to leave
>"well I certainly don't know who wouldn't take a deal like that"
>manager takes over to speed things up
>finally he's out the door
>BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!
(cont.)
>>
>>15891678
>since manager's on reg I watch what he does through the window
>he immediately starts talking to other customers outside clearly babbling on about some other weird shit
>this was evident because as he was walking away the customers were still staring at him
>also, he's not walking in the direction of the parking lot
>now where else did this fucking lunatic park except for across the street IN THE FUCKING CONSTRUCTION ZONE and left his emergency flashers on
>there's fucking construction happening and this guy parks his car in the gravel
>what the fuck is this guy on
>he gets in his mid-80's Benz and drives right up to a road roller that's MOVING
>this guy is absolutely fucking nuts
>roller immediately stops
>Benz stops, backs up, then drives up to it again
>repeats one more time, then backs into the intersection
>guy finally speeds off
>still had his flashers on the entire time
>never seen this guy again
I still think about what happened that day wondering what the fuck kind of shit led up to this, and if he actually managed to make glue that could lock up his brakes out of chewing gum.

I must be fucking dreaming.

Before I took my car in for a rotation/alignment, I checked my tread depth and the front tires were below 5mm. When I had my alignment done, I was told that one of the tires were at 4mm.

This isn't exactly exclusive to Hondas but this Honda accord I'm going to buy has this weird dent hole on the trunk lid. How can i fix it for like under $250 and have I look passable?

I was thinking of just undenting it, fill the hole with body filler and then put a sticker over it or use some touchup paint. Would that suffice?

How much would you estimate it would cost to replace this fender?

Also car comes sans radio. Any basic ones with aux you all like?
>>
>>15894710
That looks pretty nice. Would buy.

>>15894719
Not too sure but both those and EGs are known for fragile fenders so replacements (or finding somebody to straighten it out) should be cheap.

I got this for my car. Was tired of fumbling with aux cords because I get in and out of the car a lot for deliveries but it has an aux port out the back so you can route the cable wherever you want it.

>>15894769
Pretty easy most likely. Either the speedometer itself is dead (replacements are cheap on eBay), or the speed sensor is bad. Check the wire leading to the speed sensor too. Both are pretty easy to access, it sits right on top of the transmission.

Mine was broken too and it turns out the plug was just badly corroded. I cut it out and spliced a new one on.
