That's not a BRM H-16.

As a V8 fan, i'd still have to say Boxer 12 is the best engine configuration. Unless we can go up to a boxer VR24.

>The Subaru 1235 was a motor racing engine designed and built by Motori Moderni for Subaru's Formula One program in 1990. A 3.5-litre boxer-12, it was used by the Coloni team for the first eight races, but proved to be very unsuccessful and the team reverted to using the old Cosworth DFR V8 engine.

TLDR;
V8 is better.

V6 > V8

also it beat the corvette at lemans

Everything knows the best engine platforms are the straight eight and V12.

not even. a flat twelve is smoother and has better cog. it fits nicely in rear layouts due to no steering column, so it's just the best.

the real issue however is where the fuck can i get a flat twelve for under 100k?

why isn't this configuration a thing? Seems pretty space efficient.

Add a V engine on top of the sandwich and you get a "yen" engine (the shape would literally be the yen currency symbol).

Aren't boxer 12's a subset of flat 12's?
>>
>>15857782
12 cilinders is way too big.

CoG is heavily compromised, to fit the exhaust headers underneath.

Finally, engine width is as big as it can be, given any other configuration. This usually means you'll have to compromise on your suspension design (See: Porsche using McPhersons in the 911).

>smoother
Citation fucking needed. Inline sixes are inherently balanced, no matter the angle between them.

>better CoG
Sure, but it doesn't improve the car's CoG, because you still need exhausts under there - so you have to raise the crank off the floor to create clearance, and then you end up with the same overall CoG, while costing a buttload of engine bay room which you should be using for suspension. You can't, so you'll have to compromise on wishbone length, dynamic camber etc. etc.

They exist, and they're called H engines.

First off, chain drive would suck if you actually made some decent power. Manifolds would be a bitch, and the more room you take to create a decent intake manifold, the higher your CoG gets (exponentially so). As a final thought: the BRM H16 was huge. Anything not using teenytiny cilinders would become MASSIVE.

Then why did the vette cross the finish line and complete more laps than a awd v6 nissan lmp1?

Is it possible to make a V32 or a W32?

How would it sound?
>>
>>15862888
you could just route the exhaust ports upwards.
>>
>>15861561
Is this what a rotary with pistons looks like?
>>
>>15863644
but then wouldn't your intake would be on the underside?

Like shite.
