tl;rd:
Thoughts? Daily driver anywhere from the next 2 months to the next year to whenever it breaks down, if it turns out to be a good rig.
longer:
I totalled my car a few weeks ago (someone blew a tire ahead of me and caused a multi-car pileup) and need a new rig pronto.
The issue is I'm (probably?) moving in the next couple of months and need a new vehicle to get to work. I haven't decided if I'd like to buy a cheaper car that will 'just do' until I move (or at least figure out where I'm going), or get a more expensive car (as if ~$8000 is expensive) that I'll enjoy more and take care of.
The beneift of a cheaper car is that I could easily tell it at a loss and buy something more situated for my driving environment. Plus, I'm not sure of the climate of where I'm going yet.
The benefit of meeting in the middle (~$4000) is that I can get something to last the winter and then trade up in spring. Picture related.

Oh, uhm apparently it has 180k miles. Forgot that.

Buy a civic for 3k.
Why the fuck do you want a shitty Chrysler product?
>>15815750
I could do that as a very temporary solution, but I wouldn't want to ride the winter with it. There's a reasonable chance I'll end up somewhere with snow, and I like me some snow.
>>15815761
Snow tires is all you need for most places.
>>15815765
I think what you thought I said was "I'm concerned with the snow" but what I said was "I like me some snow". As in, I'll want either 4WD or AWD. I could do a Civic until maybe November.
>>15815800
A civic with snow tires is adequate as long as you're in a populated area that plows. If you move to the middle of nowhere in the upper peninsula or Alaska you might want 4x4.

He's saying he wants to off road in snow dumbass.
Don't get a grand cherokee, get a regular cherokee. It'll do you better, and a little cheaper probably
>>15815823
What kind of civic could I get for $3k?
'00, 150k miles?
>>15815849
I like the regular cherokees much better, but they're incredibly hard to find, especially in standard transmission. Gotta do with what I can find.

01-05, anywhere from 120k-200k miles
How about this?

Lolheadgaskets
The limited's have an odd problem with the vents in the A/C that the regular V8 doesn't have. I'd stay away from any limited's cause it's a very costly repair.
>>15815866
The GC is auto too, so that isn't an excuse.
Look at this beaut.

Well if his paperwork checks out, then the engine has 8k on it, which is absolutely nothing.

Ooo, I didn't see that. all I saw was that the chassis had 200k+.
That super duty looks good too... but I don't have a whole lot to tow.
Thoughts on the Jeep Liberty Renegade? I'm not a huge fan but...

Eh, who gives a shit if you don't have stuff to tow? It's a decent off roader, that's what counts. Fuck what /o/ says, buy a truck if you want.
The Liberty would get the job done I guess. I wouldn't own it. If you're looking for a more modern SUV, I'd look at Fords and Chevys more. I'm partial against modern 'jeeps' though
>>15816164
Meh, I don't really want a truck to be honest. Had one not long ago and it was good, but I'm looking for something with more interier room.
