At my work we have three Isuzu cubes, one has an Isuzu diesel and the other two have a gm 6.0. Not only do they get up to speed much quicker than the diesel but they do better on gas too.

Our license classes have nothing to do with the utilization. If you're licensed to drive a 40 tonne semi truck you can do it private and commercially alike. I have no clue about insurance rates, but taxes for utility vehicles are calculated differently from passenger vehicles and will stay on a managable level especially if you're earning money with that vehicle anyway. I don't think anyone will buy a semi truck just for private use, I was merely trumping all competition in the silly displacement argument.

Yes you can. In theory as soon as I turn 21 I could go and take a Category C+E licence which allows me to drive any vehicle over 7500kg and a trailer over 750kg. It would be expensive and I'm guaranteed to fail because I don't know the first thing about driving large vehicles, but I still theoretically could.

I work in the construction industry. Trust me, you can drive vans on a lot of terrible roads. You can also get vans with 4wd.

Some people in this industry prefer vans over pickups because the space inside a van is more practical. Personally I drive a van just because that's what the boss set up for us. But occationally we use a pickup to haul heavy things.

I think both vans and pickup trucks have their place in serious work.
Vans are god tier when it comes to organizing your tools, or transporting things in general. With a pretty big van, you can even eliminate the need for a trailer in many cases. I put so much junk into my van, with a pickup I ironically couldn't pick up as much shit as I do in my van.
