Assuming prices are the same, BRZ. More fun.

The problem is that Fiesta STs sell for $19-20k OTD brand new. While a FRS/BRZ is closer to $26k unless you find a pre-refresh 2016 model. The BRZ isn't $6000 better.
>>
Test driven both, bought the ST, but mainly because it was a much better deal. The BRZ actually feels faster even though it's slower, probably due to the added noise and seating position. Feels a lot sportier and "raw" in the clutch and shifter too. But on the other hand, BOOOOOOOOST.

Can't go wrong with either.
>>
How do the seats compare?
>>
>>15745844

Slower RWD over a tuned FWD any day.

Ripping the ebrake to drift a FWD gets old pretty quick. Sliding the rear around with power feels sexy.

Besides practicality, the BRZ is better in almost every way. If power is your concern, slap a turbo kit on for an EZ 280whp, 350+ on E85.

No dealer is going to honor your warranty if you turbo your Toyobaru

Meanwhile, you can put a Mountune induction kit, cat-back, short shifter, and tune on a FiST and it won't effect warranty at all.

It's like you said you can rice out a Fiesta and Ford won't care, is that because at the end of the day, tossing another grand plus at a new Fiesta has no effect?

False.

It's still possible to void your warranty in the US. All Ford has to prove is that it caused whatever you're trying to warranty to fail. If they have trouble doing that, depending on the dealer, they can ignore you or lead you on until you give up.

What montoune does is gives their own warranty, but it's not 0 miles when you install the part.

Say you install an engine Montoune part at 12k miles and it causes a failure to itself or other shit in the engine, and you need an entire new engine. Ford won't replace it because it's modded. Montoune will because it's below their 32k mileage warranty. If you were over that, they wouldn't.

It's basically transferring the factory warranty to montoune.

86 is shit on paper, stop trying to make comparisons to other cars, it wasn't made to break records. Toyota tried to replicate what Mazda did with the Miata in a slightly different form if that makes sense to you. It's cheap, quite practical, and relatively easy to maintain/modify. With a little bump in power it's a fun car to drive.

The edlebrock supercharger provides a 3 year powertrain warranty, and the kit is CARB legal. People are already making over 300hp on e85. 250rwhp is attainable, even with 91 octane.

That's as easy as choosing between a Ford F150 and a Honda Fit. They have so little in common, there's no use in comparing them. If you're living in a city where parking spaces are few and small and you're using your vehicle solely for getting groceries, you won't take the pickup over the compact car because it has 4x4 and can haul more. Inversely if you're living out in the country and need to haul heavy loads, you're not getting the compact car over the pickup because it's easier to park and doesn't pollute the air as much.

The same goes for the BRZ and the Fiesta, if you want to go from A to B on a highway and in traffic, you get the Fiesta, if you want to go from A to B via C and D because of twisty backroad detours, you get the BRZ.

You need to ask yourself a simple question, are you the kind of person that wants to be able to beat soccermoms in minivans in a short dragrace at a red light on your way to work with 3 co-workers in the car, or are you the kind of person that enjoys having the rear end kick out while you're driving alone on a mountain road on a lazy sunday without going anywhere in particular, driving for driving's sake?

I know I'd take the BRZ.
>>
Toyabru any day, any month, any year.

I've driven a Fiesta and they're not that great, not to mention that they look kind of retarded. Just get a fucking mustang if you're going to get something from Ferd.

>>
i hate the frs but i drive a speed3 so if i had to choose between the to as a downgrade, id go the frs this time around and probably SC it.
>>
>>15747656
I bought the Fiesta ST specifically because it was a perfect daily driver. The only thing you lose compared to a normal Fiesta is a tiny bit of trunk space. (Because of the full-size spare.)

I thought about an FR-S/BRZ but having four doors and a hatch makes a big difference.
>>
>>15749746

Any ridiculous maintenance schedules?
The other night there was a GTR thread where owners pay like $2,000 for an oil change every 3k miles.
>>
>>15747823
That's literally completely untrue.

Ford will install any warranty valid Mountune kit for you, even from factory if you want to order a FiST/FoST with one.

They have a number of parts from Mountune listed that will not affect warranty in any way AND Ford will stand behind if failure occurs. This is only for some kits from Mountune, not their super top end 300+whp stuff.

If you're going to talk out your ass, you might want to consider disabling your trip first so people don't start to associate you with complete idiocy.
>>
>>15749746
Also, just to add to this -

I think people around here look at the ST the wrong way. A FWD hot hatch isn't supposed to be a hardcore sports car for somebody who only wants performance. It's a compromise car for people who need something efficient and practical, but want something that's not a boring econobox. The ST does a great job of being that kind of car. I can commute to work, pick up stuff from the hardware store or our parts suppliers in it, take 3 coworkers to lunch in it, and then I can decide to hit the local canyon after work and keep up with the "real" performance cars. That's what makes it awesome.
>>
>>15749763
Nah, nothing unusual at all. It doesn't even require full synthetic, oil changes at the Ford dealer cost the same as a normal Fiesta or whatever.

The only maintenance annoyance is that it goes through brake pads pretty quickly, like a set every 8k if you do a lot of canyons and stuff, but they're also dirt cheap at the dealer.
>>
>>15749789

What's up with that? Slotted rotors or too small or something?
>>
>>15749810
Not sure. I think it might have something to do with the car using the brakes for torque vectoring, but I've never really been able to make sense of it. Maybe the pad compound is just garbage.

I haven't done pads in like a year because I haven't been canyoning/tracking lately, and last time I did them the aftermarket was pretty lacking. There's stuff out now but I haven't tried it yet, maybe better pads will help.
>>
>>15745844
