Speaking of Town Cars, I aways hear the air suspension is almost guaranteed to go out at some point. Is it much of a hassle/expense to fix? I really want one since my dad used to own one and it was a really comfy car

i was a mechanic for many years and the 3 cars we saw air suspension go out on was GM suv, Lincolns, and LandRovers. theyre not a hassle to fix but theyre expensive, i cant remember how much the TownCar were but i know Yukon/Tahoe or whatever it was past the $1000 mark of a repair and they either left it or put in base model shocks

Ford's version is generally fairly robust. What gets them is dry rot of the air springs combined with owner neglect.

Parts are not that expensive. Strutmasters and Arnott both have Lincoln springs around $125 each and the TC's only use two. They're easier to install than coils fwiw. Plenty of info in the Lincoln communities about the system and how to care for it so there's no reason to fear it.

I have a 99 Crown Victoria with 241K on the clock. Still kicking strong, no major issues.

They will last forever, but airbags do blow out. It's about a 2 grand repair. Or throw in springs and regular shocks for much less.
