Why is 80s aero so sexy?
>>15671453
It was Geometrically simple while remaining efficiently functional.
Then in the 90s computers became powerful enough to allow for the accurate simulation and design of alien-looking organic aero

They looked like machines. New stuff looks too artsy. This guy gets it.
>>15671453
It was the early stages of aero where it was more about what people thought was aerodynamic, not nearly as much wind tunnel testing was done if at all, and there were engineering constraints to what they could actually build as well.

This. Though not all modern aero is ugly, some of it still looks very elegantly curved.
computer processing power mostly. Even though engineers were familiar with the math(going as far back as the 1900s e.g. Navier–Stokes and such), we had no way of rigorously modeling the aero until the hardware became available to engineers.
(you really couldn't do much with wind tunnels m8 if you had to calculate everything by hand and eyeball flow movements. Even the US government and all its money in the 60s designed spacecraft that looks primitive by 1995 standards, let alone 2016)

I hope you aren't posting a good example.
>>15671485
I'm not alien!
>>15673234
Are those spokes just a decal?
>>15671485
a lot of maths and simulation did go into older cars
its just overtime the human factor of decision making and assessment became less and less involved
>>15671453
that is one of the more crude and slapped together types
typical yes but not the apex of its time
>>15673234
it looks like someone melted an autistic child's lego creation in an oven
>>15673234
It's too complex, I do'nt know what's going on with the design and there are pieces sticking out all over the place that invisible forces are acting upon.
It is not made for humans.
>>15673234
An engineering triumph, but it looks alien af
>>15673247
Yes they are a decal on a wheel insert intended to force more air onto the brakes
>aerodynamics
>>15674751
>implying that they dont have to take it into consideration even when designing motorbikes
>>15673319
>I do'nt know what's going on with the design
>It is not made for humans.
Its not made for lazy humans.
You can google and find thousands of pages explaining aerodynamic principles that can make you understand why each part is there.
The only characteristic of a human compared to the other animals is that we do STUDY AND RESEARCH when something is away from our comprehension.
Its the literal definition of a human design.
