Which one are you?
I'm a 1 & 7 during normal driving
>Not having one hand on the shifter 24/7 for maximum shifting efficiency
Right hand racecar, left hand new
All except Douche Mode depending on how into the drive I am
>>15670213
I'm a douche, and a half racecar driver at times. Douche when its hot, and im just cruising through the hood. And when I'm a little more attentive i drive with one hand on the left (9). I NEVER drive with 2 hands, i know 2 hands is proper and a lot safer, but it just feels so damn un-natural to me it sucks.
>>15670213
Blue left, green right.
>>15670213
>resting left arm on door and 9 o'clock
>right arm is either shifting or resting on center console
>>15670227
>wearing out your syncros by keeping pressure on the lever
Left hand at race car driver
Right hand is either shifting or STROKING MY JOYSTICK
>>15670251
replace them after? What are you, poor?
>dude don't use the brakes, you'll wear them out
-You
>>15670213
douche mode, but I lay my wrist on the steering wheel, I dont grip it, flex my tricep and look over at you when you pull up next to me. so im like a chill bro douche - the acceptable kind who does t take themself too seriously
>douche
But why? It's cool holding the wheel like that while keeping the other hand on top of the shifter
>>15670213
1 hand new drivers left
Red if I'm driving relaxed in the city or where I need to have my other hand on the shifter a lot.
Purple if I'm on the highway.
Blue if I'm getting hectic and not shifting, obviously.
More importantly, what the fuck is up with all that empty space on the right side of the left guage? Is that were all the indicator lights are?
>>15670251
What are you gay or something?
>manual transmissions
Enjoy being slower
>>15670213
>tfw douch
>>15670261
How is it cool?
It looks stupid and it's a good way to lose your arm in an accident
L+R racecar or elbow out window with left hand between blue and green like pic related minus the right hand.
>>15670213
Left hand between 9 and 10, right hand on the shifter or close to it.
P.S.: You don't wear out anything if you don't apply pressure to the shifter and only rest your hand on top of it.
>>15670251
>keeping pressure on the lever
That's not how it fucking works you fucking nigger. One thing is keeping your hand on the knob, the other one is pushing the shifter on the direction of the gear with all your might. And even then, the clutch will wear out sooner than the synchros by doing that
On hand at 6, the other either on the shifter or resting, unless I'm turning because >lolmanualsteeringrackwithballoontires
Douche mode becuase I always use one hand on the steering wheel and that position allows better turning.
I try to remember to move my hand to 9 if an accident ever occurs.
>>15670340
Why? Airbag?
>>15670213
Racecar driver tb.h
>>15670213

>>15670213
left hand at 6 because I don't have a gay tri-spoke steering wheel
>>15670213
>two hands always on the wheel
kek, it smells of burger in here
1 at 6. Always. Who uses two hands for the wheel?
>>15670514
Nigga I drive a manuel yet I get both my hands on the wheel when possible. Might have to do with the fact that our streets are warzone tier and steering bump is a thing with econobox McPherson setups.
>>15670526
I only keep two hands on the wheel in the motorway or if I'm going through a specially twisty road, tho.
My steering is really light and grippy, tho.
>>15670514
smells kind of diesel punto in here
>>15670534

>>15670540

>>15670213
Racecar, half racecar, half mom.
What does that make me?
>>15670213
somewhere between blue and green
I cup the underside of the side struts like a samurai sword
>>15670544
>diesel smells great, don't complain now
Now I know you're full of shit m8. In Australia we've got Abos. Abos drink cask wine out of a sack and huff petrol to go back to the Dreamtime. Hell, if they knew what Jenkemâ„¢ as they'd be brewing it.
But they won't go near diesel. It's the only pump in the NT the servos don't have to keep secured because even Abos won't huff diesel.
>>15670574
There's something comfy about burned diesel smell.
Although petrol does smell way better unburnt.
>>15670213
Usually in longer freeway drives pink with index finger and thumb. When in city mostly racecar position.
Right on green and left arm laying out the open window unless I change gears
A douche or a one handed mom
>>15670213
Red when I feel like a show off faggot.
and both blue when the road is wet.

>>15670776
In one direction maybe, 3 & 9 has better turning for both ways equally
>>15670213
All positions depending on situation.
Mom is great for traffic where you stay in first
Racecar is general all purpose
New driver to turn
Douche for overtakes
>>15670213
Noon and five for me. I drive a bus for work, though, so I'm used to resting my right hand on the door control.
>>15670213
Racecar for normal, moms for cruising
Like this
>>15670213
>subaru
where's the vape god position?
>>15670213
9/10 oclock only, I rarely put 2 hands on the wheel. I go godhand style.
>>15670834
What a reasonable answer, I like it
Also that's kind of what I do
>>15670213
usually 3 and 7 when I'm cruising along (just from where the arm rest is on the door), and 9 and 3 when I'm on windier roads
Dusche mom reporting in
>>15670213
left hand on the 7 and my right sitting near the shifter but not on top of it.

Knees on the wheel below moms
What does this mean?
race car drive.
left hand only when cruising. mom mode in my dad's truck. the thing has crazy soft power steering
with left arm on window
Blue in my car
Left hand mom in pickup truck
One hand on mom, other hand on stick
racecar because racecar
>>15671301
kinky
9 and 3 is the correct way
Race car or a little above it is the correct way. 10 and 2 is dangerous and isn't for cars with airbags
>>15670213
Left handed manual driver, so left green right shifter knob. One handed center-wheel steering is shitty to be frank.
>>15671608
>Resting hand on shifter
Shig pig
>>15670251
>synchros
You mean shift forks. Also, no.
Douche when im in the city and need to shift often. Mom on the highway just cruising.

Ew
>>15671257
this
>>15671257
my nigga this is correct
>>15671616
>Resting hand on shifter
>Manual
t. Autotragician.
The only places you 'rest' your hand on a manual shifter are podunk flyover shitholes.
>>15670251
It's the shift fork, not the synchros cunt
>>15670213
9 and 3 if I'm getting hektik, but just day to day traffic I'll have my hands at 5 and 7 on the bottom 2 spokes. It's comfy, I can rest the backs of my upper arms on the bolsters that way. 7 and the shifter if traffic is bumper to bumper enough to require it.
>>15670283
>implying driving manual transmission makes you slower
this nigga retarded
>>15670213
>having a steering wheel
>>15670560
>wife of a dead ex-race driver that picked up habits from his husband but is still a woman driver.
>>15670213
Douche. Also, holding the steering wheel from the bottom.
Two handed driving only when going fast + curvy road.
>>15671716
It does. Manual transmissions are significantly slower than modern DCTs.
>>15670251
kek you just got roasted bruh

>>15670213
It really depends. Mainly im at 3 and 9. If im lazy i will douche it up at 12 or do 10 and 3. If im tired and lazy which is when i also drive slower, i do right hand on 6 with left supporting my head off the door or at 10 on the wheel.
>>15670213
I guess I'm a douche.
I feel very uncomfortable with my right hand on the wheel.
I steer with my knees so I can shitpost on 4chan
>>15670213
Red = normal
green = normal
blue = you have autism and think city driving makes you some sort of f1 driver
pink = normal if bored of driving
>>15670834
First 2 are spot on
Last 2 are both racecar
Mix between douche and race car, depending on how I feel like driving
>>15670283

You are the most cancerous of all, worse than autotragic fags.
>>15670213

>not using mechanical advantage

and I'm not even the anon that you quoted breh

You're an idiot. A car will quickly slow down in 5th/ 6th going uphill even while floored.
A douche
>>15670283

Thanks for confirming you don't know how gear ratios or automatic transmissions work
I use all depending on the driving I'm doing at the moment.

nigga are you retarded?
Tfw no seatbelt or airbag and mom usually
Racecar or my knee
>>15672405
>>15672483
Holy fuck what are you driving? Even my 1995 mk3 golf Variant with a 75hp 1.9 TD and 500k km can hold 90-100kmh on a pretty steep uphill grade.
If you downshift you are a shit driver who cant into maintaining speed.
>>15670213
Depends which car I'm driving
>>15670213
Green whenever I have both hands on the wheel. Usually, one hand on the wheel and one on the gearstick, with the wheel hand on the right hand green bit because RHD.
Why green? It's a Ford. There are big grippy ergonomic pads there that help when turning the wheel.
One hand only because power steering. Not like my old car where you had to use both hands to haul the huge-ass wheel around, or the car I learned on with really stiff steering.
I fucking love driving a modern car. I don't have to exert huge control forces!
>>15670213
Douche here.
Either both hands on moms
Or
Just my left hand on 7
>>15670213
Green when I start driving and pretty much every time I'm in the city. Then I proceed into blue when I start driving on the highway. After a while on the highway, I have my hands laying in my lap and keep the steering wheel in the correct position with one or two fingers. If the highway has traffic or if I have to constantly overtake and change lanes, I normally use blue or green.
>>15673074
>what is a petrol engine with less torque
Sure, a diesel can go uphill and not need to downshift. Petrol engines, not so much, unless they are big enough to get decent torque at low rpm's.
>>15670213
Racecar driver checking in
>>15673170
>diesels confirmed for superior?
Douche most of the time. If things get tense, I put one hand at nine, and one at 5 to stabilize.
>>15670286
Don't get in an accident then, fag.
Window hand new driver, stick hand mum. Allows extra stabilisation without detracting from shift time due to the low travel distance.
Damn there are some stupid motherfuckers in this thread pretending like they don't go to jiffy lube and only drive standard in need for speed
>>15673213
Was that ever a discussion? Swap a diesel into any car and people jizz their pants. Unless you're driving a crazy octane hungry engine diesel is best
>>15670261
>keeping the other hand on top of the shifter
Not having a bench seat and a g.f.
>>15670213
>>15673177

Would love to flyby your RS with FWD power
Racecar only because I like resting my thumbs on the corners of the inside of the wheel.
Left hand out window, right on center console. New driver to make a turn.
Like this while I find were the pussy at
>>15672144
Dang did I just get joked
>>15670213
Left knee at 7 o'clock
>>15670213
Green under 30mph/making a turn
Blue over 30mph
>>15672189
Blue is also recommended though in many states manuals. 9 and 3 or 8 and 4
