Did not ask for any lecture. I don't feel bad in the slightest and I would do it again if I knew I wasn't going to be caught. It was a completely open road and no one was in danger except myself.

Stop being a huge faggot. People buy nice cars to drive fast and not everyone has time/money/desire to do that on a track. All i want to know is -- how fucked am I?

Your license is kill

Say goodbye to your driving privileges
>>

Yup you're from Jersey alright.
You'll pay a fine and your insurance might go up a bit. Unless you're totally broke it won't be nothing you can't pay off
>>
>>15657297
Not the smartest decision, agreed -- especially since I drive this road every day and I've seen cops on it numerous times. I didn't see the unmarked chevy suburban in the crowd of cars I passed. Radar detector doesn't go off all the time for lasers, and when it does go off for lasers, it's too late.

>>15657313
Is that a definite?
>>
>>15657320
I know it is in my state. Idk about jeresy tho

Better pray that it is a hefty fine and not your drivers license
>>

>I didn't see the unmarked chevy suburban in the crowd of cars I passed.
so it wasn't a completely open road then lmao

what exactly do you think would happen if you were late to work? They'd chop your balls off? It's not a big deal unless you're a total faggot who shows up late all the time

You'll be lucky if you keep your license, not really but you might have to do weekends in the pokey
>>
>>15657334

Adding to my post. This is for Cali

>Going over 100 mph is an infraction (Veh C 22358(b)). You cannot go to jail. It is not reckless driving. A court appearance is mandatory. The scheduled and usual fine is about $880 (although the maximum fine, including assessments, is over $2,000). The judge can suspend your drivers license for up to 30 days. Traffic school is not available for this charge, and it is 2 points with DMV (the same as DUI). Your best outcome is usually a reduction to simple speeding, which is 1 point and a fine of about $480. Due to the severity of the punishment, some people hire an attorney in these cases, but since it is an infraction if you cannot afford to pay a lawyer you are not entitled to appointed counsel.
>>
Lawyer up of he wrote it out for 108 in a 65.

Considering how stingy Cali is when it comes to driving, I'd expect Jersey to be a little more lenient. I just read their laws on this and it said expect a hefty fine, possible suspension of license (not indefinite) and possibly points on your license.

>Pulled over and my car is full of boxes and other oddities as I'm literally moving the last load of my stuff
>Last load implies it's the stuff you care about / fragile goods
>Cop comes up and starts asking what's with everything in the vehicle
>Explain to him this is the last load and I'm moving
>He asks where and I have a conversation with him
>Tells me he smells marijuana
>Ask why I was pulled over
>"You have a brake light out"
>He goes back to smelling marijuana
>Tells me to step out so he can search my vehicle
>Literally starts ripping my boxes open no fucks given
>Just willy nilly throws things out the vehicle
>After he is done wasting our time he tells me he'll get a k9 unit if I don't tell him where it is
>Tell him I don't have anything
>He was bluffing and then wrote up a correctable violation for my brake light

I was pissed right the fuck off once he started treating my stuff like it was valueless.

Never again will I share a conversation with them. I don't trust them at all anymore. I use to think the videos online were because the driver gave them lip.

At that time I still thought police officers were around to protect and serve.

>>
>>15657527
Definitely depends on the cop. I've had cops fuck me over and other cops really cut me some slack.

Also depends on when they have to start getting those citation numbers up -- or whether they just don't like you because you have dreads and a bernie sticker.

>>15657568

>>
>>15657640
No, 108 is easily manageable on this road. It's a 4 or 5 lane highway that's a straight shot. You can see miles ahead of you. And an s2k doesn't start quivering like some econobox after 100. Shit is tight

Wide. Open. Road. No highway entrances on this road for miles. Not putting anyone's life but my own in danger. I'll take that risk.

And I was never trying to argue this. Anytime I see a wide open road with no highway entrances, i'm going to want to speed. There is nothing you can say on a 4chan thread that will change that.

How noble of you little faggots that you keep it to 5 mph over the speed limit, max. If i was driving a Geo, I'd probably be upset at people who could break 70mph too. Go fuck yourselves.

You hypocrites probably watch 1320 videos on youtube but come here to condone speeding. I just can't believe you come to an auto forum and don't like speeding sometimes too. Why the fuck are you even on here?
>>
>>15657769
You deserve to get killed in a horrible wreck. I hope to god nobody has to die because of your stupidity.
>>
>>15657750
65 is the lower end of speed limits across the US, with parts of Texas hacing limits as high as 80. Statistically, the freeway is one of the safer places to be on the road, since there is less to react to. Also, the autobahn exists, and they can make it work there. Those machines you mention are engineered to the letter for safety more often than not. And on massive straight aways like what OP mentioned, yeah, 65 is unrealistically slow. I'm not saying it should be bumped up to like 95 or some shit, but 70-75 is a far more reasonable limit. If you wanna drive slow get in the right lane with the 18 wheelers.

Are you people actually retarded?

Are you? Do you treat everything in life as black and white as you are this? It's called judging a situation. Do you think he was gonna hit one of those people behind him?

>deer jumps onto the freeway
>OP shits his pants and swerves into the X-bound lane and causes a head-on collision at 100+ mph
Crazy shit happens every day. We have to be be responsible and prevent it if we can.

For the love of god op throw money at a lawyer to fix the ticket. That's why they exist if you don't you will royally fuck yourself. If a cop says he will work with you that is complete bullshit. (Have a few friends and one relative who is a cop).

You literally never just pay the fine on a speeding ticket straight up, even if it's only 14 over.

Here's what will most likely happen.
Pay fines( it will be expencive) points if you super lucky more likely he's gonna get you for reckless endangerment and speeding. Which will be a suspension and fat fines.

Get lawyer spend some extra money no points or reduced points they let you keep your license.

Last ticket I got was 79 in a 60. Which in MO was somewhere around $250ish. Got a lawyer to fix it and now it's a parking ticket and only costed like 350 for fines lawyer and court fees
>>
The people in this thread are fucking cucked.
If you fags would actually take a look at statistics you'd know that speeding isn't dangerous.
>>
>>15658052
Where the fuck do you live that has a 5 lane highway with no median
>>
>>15658052
First of all, in that area I doubt there's much wildlife left, although I may be wrong. Also, if there isn't a center divide that's pretty stupid. Even our state highways here in CA with 65mph limits have them.

I do agree that taking the responsible route is the best way, though, even and especially when having fun in a potentially dangerous way.

>>15658075
Were there other penalties besides the $250? If not, you just wasted $100.

>>15658079

Indiana
>>
>>15658052
Na, there are zero deer in this area. I mean, anything's possible-- a deer could wander I guess from miles away down the road...but so extremely unlikely.

Also, there's a concrete barrier between X-bound lanes.

Pic related -- its the bottom right orange highway. There's nothing there but factories and wide open land/sea.

new jersey: the garbage state
>>
>>15658092
Alright, let's say it's a drugged out vagrant then.

Also, factories are usually riddled with people. Would be a shame if a mangled car was launched off the road at one of them.
>>
>>15658086
I drive a tow truck so tickets can possibly cost me my job. Legal ramifications besides avoiding points no I didn't get out of much

But my work pulls our driving records once a year and shit like that can cost me my job if I have multiple moving violations. So yea it was money well spent.
>>
>>15658075
Nice. Appreciate the info, that's exactly what i came here for -- will definitely be shopping for a lawyer now.

>>15658116
...what? why would a vagrant be in the industrial area so far away from anything else? And since when do factory workers walk out onto highways? Just to clarify, these factories are like...hundreds of yards from the highway. Think of the last time you saw a factory along a highway and how far away it seemed. Workers don't just come wander out into the street...
>>
>>15658116
You're grasping at straws here, now. Freak accidents can happen to anyone, regardless of going 65mph or 100. I assume he wasn't in the rightmost lane.

>>15658120
Ahh, gotcha. Nice one, then.
>>
>>15658131
Wandering homeless people are literally everywhere. The factory workers which were potentially in danger were off the road, well within the bounds of a car flying off the freeway.
>>
>>15658143
>you're grasping at straws now
Unlikely factors cause accidents every day. Why is it foolish to limit the liability of said potential accidents in any way we can?
>>
>>15658148
No, man. There's concrete barriers.

And even if there was a evil knievel style ramp aimed directly at the factory, no car would ever come CLOSE to hitting a factory worker. Do you understand how far I'm talking? These factors are HUNDREDS of yards. There's fences and shit in between.

And vagrants? really? cmon...
>>
>>15658157
Because hitting a person at 65mph with your car's going to most likely kill them anyhow, 100mph is just a swifter death. If they wander onto the highway, then you can basically chalk that up to suicide.

Additionally, the more fringe-case we get here, the less you can blame them on speeding. I mean, yeah, a plane could crashland on the highway, killing OP in his car going 100mph, or it could've landed on a car going the speed limit.
>>
>>15658177
This was under the assumption that OP would have swerved to avoid said vagrant and gone offroad.
>>
>>15658190
Most of the time if there's a animal or person in the middle of the highway you are better off just smoking it than trying to swerve. You will prolly come out fine.

For people who are like but what about the person in the highway. Fuck that dude he's a idiot for being there and deserves to get hit.
>>
>>15658190
Even so, the result would probably be similar for a car going 65 or 100. The car going 100 would just travel farther.
>>
>MUH RIGHT TO SPEED
>>
So many people defending rules simply because they're rules. The rule USED to be no faster than 55mph on any road, anywhere in the country--where do you dangerous fucks get off driving 65?

not like he is going to need insurance anymore.

the 55 law was for fuel economy but was changed when we discovered gasoline in alaska.

Words can not express how hard it makes my dick every time I see one of you New Jersey faggots getting ass raped by Delaware police. None of you can drive worth shit, please stay the fuck out of my state and kill yourself. You are literally dumb as fuck if you speed on that stretch of 495.

Anon said the officer smelled pot. Once they claim to smell something they're searching under probable cause.

At that point refusing would do nothing.

virginia ?`

>>15659857
is it even worth saying...."i do not consent to this search"
>>
>>15657698
Yeah, in VA over 80 the judge can give you a DAY in jail PER MPH over. In OP's case that speed in VA could put him in prison for 28 days.
>>
>>15659860
Probable cause is a legal means of searching the vehicle. It cannot be refused.

Once they have probable cause they're legally allowed to search the vehicle even if you refuse a search.

You can refuse a search if they don't have probable cause.
>>
>>15659901
I smell pot is the biggest bullshit reason for probable cause, they can say that they smell it even though they don't
