No volvo thread, lets fix that

So I just tracked my volvo 855 with an ard ecu in it and now the heater core and radiator are leaking. Should I chalk this up to 20 year old parts and replace or source a performance radiator that will fit? it has built in trans and engine oil coolers though so I will need external replacement for oil (already has ext. trans cooler). never overheated but the tank seam is leaking on the rad and I'm guessing the core looks the same (smells like coolant with heat on)

Are the C30's decent? Or does everyone disregard them as Ford garbage?

my aunt has one, is hasn't been long enough to have any issues though. seems solid enough. hatch is small.

Ford garbage as far as I'm concerned, then again my s80 blew up on me yesterday so yeah.
Red block or earlier if I'm going to buy another Volvo (looking at you 740)

Not too weird my turbo finally gave out in mine after a long cruise/race
>>
>>15638745
Thinking of a fastish car to get when my license doesn't restrict me from "high" performance cars. Are the 242 good? Is there a turbo version?

Even a turbo 240 is not fast, or even fastish. You're talking about a literally forty year old slant-4.

My dad has had one for about 6 months. it pretty fun to drive and it hasn't given him any trouble. S it has a really shitty turn radius though

the 2.3 hpt was 225hp and the top speed is 145mph(limited). no road master or caprice wagon was gonna keep up. Also the g-body in the background has a 383 so..
>>15640326
>no oem volvo 200 series is fast turbo or not. think old subaru loyale/xt turbo in means of performance.
>>15639838
probably a turbo control issue, try hooking the vacuum line for the wastegate directly to the pressure port on the turbo housing and bypassing the tcv(most common part failure). mine had a leaking
cbv diaphragm when I bought it and only built about 4 psi. so that could be an issue too. the wg actuator rod could be siezed or disconnected, bad vacuum lines etc. the ecu will also disable boost if it has a fault. i've seen bad o2 sensors and fuel pump relays cause it.

check wg, tcv and cbv out, unless the turbine seized it is still mechanically okay. which it pro hasnt or there would be huge backpressure

said fuck it and ordered a replacement for both from RA,

is it easy to work on, or even make it at least sort of faster?

I just put in a new OEM radiator recently then I saw this! Heater core you just gotta pull the carpet a bit and take one one or two little plastic panels off super easy.

I fell in love with the v50. It's just such an elegant shape. And those shoulders. On the about 10y olds mostly.

Tfw can't afford one just yet.
