Could coach builders make a comeback, post 2000?

I don't think saudi princes or the children of high-ranking ccp members care all that much about custom bodywork.

I never really gained any interest for kit cars or coach built cars. They usually are expensive for the performance and options they can offer. Kit cars such as Shelby cobras can be built to perform better than the original but yet don't have any of the legendary history.

There was some law passed on replica cars that up tp like 250 a year can now be made by one manufacturer, don't have to pass safety standards but has to for emissions.

Coach building (as a trade) still exists in the bus and coach industry. And if you park a coach built car (like my boss' Morgan Aero) next to a coach built bus you'll see a lot of similarities in the way they are held together and quite quickly realize that coachbuilders are all dick heads and hate mechanics so try and make shit as difficult as they can

Not built by Alfa themselves.

Build trucks. Pretty much all commercial trucks are 'custom'. Manufacturer builds cab and chassis. Aftermarket body and attachments added later. No standards that I can see. Hose reels, winches, equipment racks, etc. welded to front bumpers (often extended) pretty much with no pedestrian safety in mind.

How does all this differ from custom car coaches?
