GM's rears are all trash. I would suggest if your having that much issue upgrade to a more heavy duty axle first with a better rear break config for better pedal feel. Get away from that JB5 shit. Also I really love my 3.42's Great hiway gear and p good in city and slight towing of my 18' bass boat. 3.73's would be alittle more tow'y. Can't comment on mpg's as the only platform I have 3.73s in is a suburban and it automatically has 1,000lbs on these pickemups.

A locked rear is not going to help you in the rain. Pull out slower and buy tires with better wet traction next time

If you think your car is shit in the rain with the 3.08 you're not even going to move off with a 3.73.

Try taking off in 2nd (or just take it slower in 1st) and get some actually decent tires.

Engaging the front axle will achieve better results.

I've driven a few different brands of all-terrains on some jeeps and they all slip a little in the rain if I give it too much gas

Well perhaps its time to fix the real problem.

I have a twin stick 4wd and its does help considerably when launching in slippery rainy conditions.

Hell, most everyone on this board only has a 1 wheel powered vehicle. Most 4x4s are still 1 wheel powered, when you shift them into 4wd it's only a 2 wheel powered, unless you got lockers or posi in any of the diffs.

The problem is nowhere near bad enough that you need to put a fucking spool in the truck. The fix is learn how to drive in the rain. A spool will make your straightaway performance good, but the truck is going to handle like shit around corners all the time, ESPECIALLY when it's wet.

I know your 1wd pain bro, same tires which may be part of it honestly, even though they rate fairly well, my truck is a useless cunt in rain. Even leaving a light, barely giving it gas, I'll usually spin a tire a bit. Makes me miss driving my dads 3/4 ton, even on 8 year old worn out BFG all terrains, that thing drives like a dream in any weather in 2wd mode, plus, dat 4.11 factory rear end.

a limited slip would be ideal. idk how crappy your axle is but you may look for a whole new setup to drop in.

Actually with a truck you might not wanna weld it, you might snap an axle with big tires.
