Was 2004 the last year Audi could be considered reliable?
It's always this way:
>new model
meh
>10 years later
what about the previous generation? prices dropped, it's better than the new one
>>15621810
You are retarded.
>>15621872
How?
It's the last year before they got overly computerized.
>>15621896
used to have a 2002 A4 Avant, like in your pic, was an unreliable shitheap
>>15622540
> your single anecdote makes you right
>>15622561
sure, go on and buy one lmao
B6's are unreliable shit cars, the steptronic transmissions and 2.5 litre dieses were utter shite, B5's were ok though
>>15622540
>A4 Avant
>same as a RS6
I don't think you can really compare the two

diesels*
>>15622573
I already have one.
An '04 A6 2.7t
Replaced a valve cover gasket, and timing belt. 130k no problems whatsoever.
>>15622578
nvm it looked like the A4 B6 in the thumbnail and im tired as fuck
the RS6's still suffered from timing chain issues where you had to remove the engine to replace them
any thoughts on A4 B5s? 2.8 specifically

Get the 30 valve version and you're golden. Extremely good chassis, won't rust, no electrical gremlins, easy maintenance and very comfy for such an old car. The multi point suspension is the weakest point, joints may come and go almost bi-yearly, but just spray the bolts with some WD40 or 5-56 or penetrating fluid every time you take the wheel off or get around to it, makes changing them a 15 minute job from a 4 hour tears and muscle-fatigue -job.
Get someone with VAG-COM or a good OBD-reader to come with you before you buy tho, you can see what has been going on in the car.
Backseats aren't very spaceous, but the front is very nice and comfy.
>>15621896
>implying the computers are the problem.
The problems with the old ones were that they leaked oil like a fucking seive, the v6s anyway. New ones are fine, I work on a few that are company cars with relatively high kms with no issues.
>>15623155
What about S4 B5s?
>>15623377
>V6 Audi
Enjoy changing cams.
>>15622561
he's not alone. I've known two guys that have owned a B5 and a B6 and both cars crapped out on them after 100k miles.
>>15623155
>joints
>bi-yearly
Audi, lmao
Needs moar front overhang
>>15623978
B4 was the last good Audi, C4 a shit,
>tfw no c5 rs6
>>15623927
A) I said I didn't like the v6s
B) why the fuck would you have to change the cams.
>>15624556
Cuz they go thru camz as often as ur mum, m8.
>>15624000
These (but as wagons) are nice as fuck. Too bad about the slushbox though.
>>15621810
Reliable cars were pre-2000's era. Same applies to Audis. Here, in Eastern Europe, even old ass Passat B4 (called "dolphins") hold their value very well, especially station wagons. Why? Because it's literally working horse, but instead being a living creature, it's just a metal box that consumes fuel. Quite reliable car with very cheap parts and is relatively easy to work on with not much messy electronics and other luxury stuff. Same goes for Audis here. Premium cheap vehicle, but those made in pre-2000's are now almost obsolete and people move on to newer ones, leaving vehicles with soul, reliability, passion and top-notch engineering behind. Well, different situation in US I'm sure. There dominates mostly Japanese and their own made American cars.
pap my dick is big
>>15621810
they weren't reliable when they came out why do you think 12 years of wear and tear will help?
>>15623155
thank you, eased my mind
>>15623155
I love you and your taste of photography - simple yet beautiful. Sunset is really fuckin' comfy.
>>15624608
B3 passats had less electronics. If you find a b3 thats not rusted out its a way better deal
>>15624591
Agreed. In pic that i posted the owner replaced the slushbox with a bulletproof racing transmission. With that issue gone its almost affordable to own.
Dear lord NO! Those things are basically rebadged B5 Passats!
>>15624836
Way too old in my opinion.
>>15624873
Why B5 Passat's design makes me rage hard? It just asks for it to be demolished.
>>15624873
Nothing wrong with that, especially since nowadays they cost virtually the same: almost nothing.
>>15624925
With a mk2 gti engine and costing less than 1k eur its great value
>>15624873
Couldnt be more wrong
