So I just bought a 2005 Outback for $400. 128K miles and in good shape, but needs a rear hatch and head gaskets. How bad are the head gaskets on these things? I've heard from they're OK to beyond brutal.

>I'm a poorfag that couldn't buy a clean example that already had its head gaskets done. So now I'm going to try to do them myself and spend way too much time doing it myself and do it badly so it'll need to be done again sooner than if a professional had done it
>mfw ive never seen a car being sold for less than 1k.

Brutal. They are a pain in the Ass. You must pull the whole motor. Look for my Subaru general thread.

I think you're lost. Try >>>/lgbt/

Yeah this. Pull the whole motor and have everything splayed all over the place. Might as well check your valves while you're in there.

guaranteed he meant $4000

OP here. Found Hundred American Dollars. The owner was quoted $2500 for a head gasket job, not counting the other stuff it needs. He was gonna get a $500 tax deduction from PBS but I offered $400 for a cash sale.
Figured I can't lose on this.

You got it dude.
Fuck off richfags. Poorfags diy thread.

Also, OP here again. I bought a 2000 Camry with 48K for $350 for my mother a year ago. The owner was chronically ill and the exhaust, EGR, and tires fell apart in their driveway while it sat. They were gonna pay a garage to haul it away when I stepped in.
Pic related.

Or the proper way of pulling the entire god damn mother fucking engine.

That can't be easier than yanking the engine, can it?

Ironic that you're the one who bought a dyke mobile and are redirecting anon
