It is in some places. I've lived in various areas in the southern US, and it's social convention that you say hello to your neighbors -- not doing so is rude. I've had friends from California who say you don't greet or acknowledge people without a reason though since it comes off as weird there.

I think it's best to just follow the customs of the area you live in. If you move to Alabama, you'd better be comfortable with greeting people as acquaintances, if you move to New York, you can probably get by with treating everyone else there as an NPC.

I've done tie rods so much I know off hand it's 18 and 1/2 turns on the passanger side and 12 turns on the drivers side to get the wheel straight. It's so close if I didn't already pay for lifetime alignments at firestone I wouldn't even bother. like 2 years ago she started talking about a new car. We are doing a lot better financially now and I just got a new car. I told her "what's the point? you'll just wreck it anyways". She didn't even get pissed, she just dropped it. One thing i'll give her is she keeps her car clean, she'll drag out my shop vac regularly to vacuum it out then take it down to the car wash place.

I know Dodge has a shitty rep but they made a car that can survive my girlfriend. So props to them. When she kills the Intrepid (I'm thinking transmission) then i'll get her a few year old sub compact to tool around in. Maybe she'll hit less things in a smaller car.

The surrounding area isn't all that good, a lot of cheap apartments leading to a rise of the APES, but this housing area, is REALLY expensive because all the shit nearby. The area is basically prime housing, so the population is basically 95% white, which keeps crime down, the rest is mostly Asians who don't do to much crime anyway. There's only one black family, and they're old so they're not bad. I didn't even know there where any blacks here until my car over steered into their fence. I'm pretty fortunate to know some competent women drivers. Both of my Grandmother's have lead feet but are otherwise safe drivers, my mother is a traffic instructor and school bus driver so keeps her skills up to date. I haven't ridden with my step-mom in awhile but she keeps out of trouble.

That being said all of the girls under 25 that I know are utter shit drivers. They follow far to close to the car in front of them and generally do terrifying shit.
