I have a 2003 Chevy Cavalier Sport Coupe w/ 94k miles, and at highway speeds I can feel a bumping through my steering wheel like the road wheels are being jostled about. At about 75mph the shaking starts to come through even the upper dashboard so I usually don't surpass that speed. What could be the problem?

Too much oil creates too much pressure and can seriously damage your engine. Don't drive until you've done this.

I've never done any actual mechanical work on a car in my life, but I recently bought an NA Miata with 134k on the clock and want to start everything pretty fre$h so I know where it's at maintenance-wise. I asked my father to help me out with it and he said he thinks it's a bad idea because I'm "not a mechanic" and "the guys down the street will change your oil and check everything for about $30." He's also concerned about the initial investment because I need a jack, jack stands, torque wrench, appropriate oils, etc. I tried to explain to him it's about the experience and the initial investment wasn't a big deal to me.

This turned into a weird rant, but am I getting in over my head for someone who's never done this stuff before? There's so many detailed guides on the internet for NA Miatas I think messing up would be something I'd have to try to do.

Renault, Alfa, VW Group, BMW M, and it seems Merc AMG.
But most of the time they just put "Auto" in the info, without precision.

Let me preface this by saying I know nearly nothing about cars.

I'm looking for a first car and found a BMW 316i from early 2000 (so it's one of the 77kW ones) for a reasonable price. It's got 4-matic because I'm an idiot who doesn't want to drive stick, mileage is 74'440. Is there any reason not to get it or is that a good choice?

Civic EG3, manual, 1.5 SOHC engine, 2.5k usd. It's quite expensive here since a lot (and a lot more than the usual a lot) keep one as a hobby car.

I have a Scion tC and I'm adding fog lamps. The fuse box behind the steering wheel already has a fog lamp slot with a fuse despite the car not coming with fog lamps. I think it was just a courtesy add-on. How do I connect to this? I've only done piggybacks before, and that won't work in this situation because the box is upside down with a cover.

I'm buying a used car but want to do it as cheaply as possible.
I'm having them sell it to me without registering it and only paying for the title transfer.

I've got a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL 149,500 miles.

Right now it idles roughly and doesn't go above 3000 RPM without squealing. I don't think all the cylinders are firing. Blue and white smoke are coming from the tailpipe. I don't think its burning coolant as the coolant levels seem fine. It also shifts roughly, from any gear. I'm thinking this might an the vacuum modulator on the trans? Or some kind of vacuum issue?

It was sitting for a good while (3 years I think) and I plan on doing a tune up anyway. I don't see any leaks on the headgaskets or underneath the car.

If I have to take the heads off to replace valve seals, should I replace the timing chain, tensioners, and head gaskets?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to keep this car.

Real quick, guys.

I changed the oil and filter on my car for the first time a few months ago, and I've been noticing something strange.

Before the change the car ran fine, after the change the car has been overheating like mad. It runs fine for 30 minutes and then afterwards the heat begins to build.

Is it the oil? I think it's because it's running thin when it gets too hot. This all happened after the oil change. Fans run fine, I put fresh coolant in, changed the radiator cap, checked the system for leaks, and nothing.

1995 Toyota Camry LE. 4 cylinder, 2.2 litres, 108,947 miles.

Buddy of mine was moving out of the country and was trying to get rid of a 4th gen Pontiac firebird he bought then put in storage for a couple of years until he could do something with it. In a used car, how big of a deal is a rusty undercarriage?
I'm looking at a used Accord with a little over 100k miles on it, and the calipers were mostly clean in the front, but really rusty in the back, and the rotors are really rusty too, so that tipped me off. Under the car, it's pretty rusted. Not to the extent of being gross, but there was a thin layer of brownish red over a fair amount of it.

I live in New England, so there's bound to be snowy roads every year, and I don't have a garage to park in yet, so I'm wondering if I should just walk away since it will probably get more rusted, or if rust isn't really a big deal.

My mom has a 160k mile Toyota Tundra 2006 that had a ton of rattling. I took it to a mechanic and he just removed the heatshield on the exhaust because it was completely rusted through. It would cost $250 in parts and labor to replace it, but he said it's unnecessary.

Okay so I just got a new clutch and flywheel installed on my car and I am not past the 500mi break in period. I noticed some weird burning smells (clutch?) cause my shifting isn't perfect and the clutch is still touchy, so my question is this normal???

Also I had some aftermarket engine mounts installed as well, left, right, and rear but the front mount doesn't line up right so it's without a center bolt. Will this be a huge problem if I don't get it fixed? The engine seems pretty stable but im really paranoid and need some advice on this.

If subies get their unique exhaust note from uneven headers, will having uneven lengths on a straight pipe axle back cause any difference in sound? I'm meaning I have an inline 4 single pipe exhaust that splits to duals behind the axle, if one of those pipes after the split was longer/shorter than the other would it cause any sort of exhaust note modification (if there is no mufflers in the system)?
