Looks like I'll be the only person to recommend it OP.

My wife and I both have 2015's (an S and an SE respectively).
We both came from VW's as well (a mk4 2.slo wagon and a b5.5 v6 Passat) that both treated us very well reliability wise.

To me, mines a lot of fun to drive. Especially now with ECS springs and a stage 1 tune, which I highly recommend.

Honestly the MK7 seems pretty solid. There were some issues with defective turbos early in production but they fixed the issue quickly. Compared to previous generations of golfs the MQB platform cars are excellent. I'm a hondafag but I might pick up MK7 GTI soon as a DD.
