Anyone have any experience with working on an old Chevy C10?
I just recently came into a little money and have been looking at getting a project to work on
What do you want to know? All American body on frame solid axle trucks were similar back then so I might be able to help you out.

They're cool old trucks. Reliable and simple if you un-smog it

Probably going to want to do an engine swap from whichever one i get, and a manual conversion if its automatic. I'm assuming with a big engine bay and because its a older Chevy it shouldn't be very challenging?
I live in a rural area so my craigslist options are limited. There's a few I've seen but a lot of them are rust buckets.

Engine swaps aren't hard in those if you have the right tools. Going from a 305 to a 383 would be even easier. It's more hassle than it's worth to do a manual swap but if you have the time and money like you say then go for it.
If you want to do something really cool find an old Suburban with a factory 454 and throw speed parts at it until it runs 12s.

This is my 83. Doesn't get much easier than an old pickup. You can fit anything from a 262 to a 400 under the hood without changing anything.

Lol what's the point of this post

80s smog shit is horrible. My Wagoneer barely ran when I got it but just removing that stuff got it drive able.
Got a 84 C10 last month, needed a trans. Replaced with a used 700r4 and found out it had a 350ci from a 1971 truck and the vin called for a 305. Working on the rust now, I wanted a project and having fun at it.

Good lord that's an ugly color. 350s weren't an option on c10s in that era but just about all of them have been swapped by now

I was about to say something about 305's being weak engines but I just found out a stock 305 from 1980 had comparable power to my AMC 360 and now I feel sad
