Too bad its made by jeep...
I saw one in person they other day. Its smaller than you think. Would love to have something small like this for camping.
If only it was made by toyota and had a LO box in it.

It's even worse than that, it's a Fiat disguised as a Jeep.

Right. Its disgusting.
Why cant toyota make the rav4 small again? Does anyone compete with the renegade? Closest i could see is the mazda cx3 or cx5. Which im ok with. But i wouldnt expect them to be rugged.
>>

Land rover needs to get their shit together and make some real competitors that are also available in the US market. That would make everyone step up their game.
>>
>>15491969

I've seen this argument so much. There is a point to it. Unless you have the gearing of the Miata to get you to actually move when you try to overpass someone, then why ever put something that slow in a "sports car."

Imo the only car that has the excuse to be slow is the Miata, and even at being slow it does the job better. Subaru royally fucked up with this engine. Nobody at all would be saying "It needs less power" if it had 250 or 300 and a lot more torque.

The hilux is actually superior than most 'pickups' in the world. In Australia we don't have utes as big as the american ones (some people pay out their ass to import them), so what you would call a compact pickup is the normal dual cab ute people use for work or whatever. The best utes are: hilux for reliability and aftermarket support, aus-designed ford ranger for equipment and looks and technology, Isuzu d-max for cheapness and simplicity, mazda bt-50 is a rebadged ranger etc

America really needs to get proper pickups that aren't over sized and over-specced for mall crawling.

What if you need to cross a creek? Your not crossing something high enough to warrant a snorkel with that.
What if you get stuck? lol soft roader
What if you drive off road at night? you have head lights
What if you need extra fuel for a generator? sure, i dont see one in the back of that biscuit tin of a car.
What if you drive in the fog? lol headlights
What if youre in a highly populated wildlife area? Ill give you that one.

This. XJ owner. That fucking truck is so damn reliable. Especially at 295k mi. I'd rather piss glass than buy a Chrysler, but XJs are AMC designed. CSB:

One time we were up in the hills - about 9k feet. We were packing up from camping and my buddy's like "let's take this trail. My phone says it'll be faster."

I look at my map and it's not even on there.

"C'mon, let's do it"
.....ok.

Three hours later we're down the craziest fucking trail I've ever done. Oh by the way, it was closed at the bottom and there was no "trail", indicating it had been closed for many years. Everyone had trouble except the XJ. It just nimbly navigated the hell trail, rivers, waterfalls and fuck huge (like 10ft diameter) rocks. Incredible. I bought one that week. A/C blows cold and it's as fast as any late model on the highway. Why did I wait so long?

>>
>>15493228
Found the Eurotrash.

I know you've never driven an "automobile" but certain ones have to attributes people find desirable, like "reliability". When you get a job and then an "automobile" you'll find that repairs are expensive, so "reliability" will be a positive attribute.

>I can imagine..
So you've never been in actual mountains. Shocking.

>California
Dude.... you should have post literally anything other than that. I mean, anything. The highest you could have been, other than smoking, is the Baja I and I highly fucking doubt you were off-roading ever.

Not trying to get everyone to buy Jeeps, that would only drive up the cost of my next one, that is, until people realize the Chryslers are shit. In fact, I DD a Nissan. But when you're in the hills and have literally no support, you're gonna want a 4.0.

>if you flex at all you can't even open the door
This is true of literally any unibody vehicle people choose to take off-roading
>>
>>15501163
Mate, sounds like you need to learn how to operate a 4x4, because damage is not the norm.
>>15501175
Literally never had this issue with opposing tyres in the air with a 3rd gen Pajero or (dare I say it) Disco 3.
Only ever seen this phenomenon with XJs and a WJ.

Here's my truck, it's ok at off road stuff. Nothing too crazy tho cause of the huge wheelbase and Xboxhuge weight
>>
>>15501292
It's like you've never heard of Moab, Ultimate Adventure, Baja races, or any of the huge annual events/races/road trips that off road types take part in. I don't what it is you think youre doing, but it's not any kind of serious off-roading.
>>
>>15501645
yeah that beast has got huge weight alright, the truck is pretty heavy too.

I've driven, navigated and marshaled plenty of winch challenges.
It's like you think "serious off-roading" is a valid excuse to damage up your vehicle.
Like the other anon said, it seems you new to spend more time on the ground picking a line and less time on the loud pedal. Stop being a rough cunt.
>>
>>15502328
This.
I'm still convinced he's just an arm chair offroader who's read all the Patterson's magazines who thinks "rock rash" looks cool and is necessary to get through a trail.
>>
>>15502002
So you think the only serious off roading is racing? That explains why you think doing damage to your vehicle is the norm.
>>

It's the American consumers that are the problem. It seems like no one works or has value for money.
>>
>>15502937
Actually it's the government. They taxed the hell out of foreign farm equipment so light trucks are essentially banned. I'd love to get my hands on an L200, but nope.

I am considering a new impreza sport. but no heated seats on sport premium and no m/t on sport limited. I'm gonna take one for a test this week.

So you're all going to tell me that you've never scraped, banged, dinged, or damaged your vehicle's off-roading? You must either be high on yourselves, never pushed the limits of your vehicles, or there was a serious breakdown in communication. I'm hoping, and expecting, that it's the latter, but you can never be sure on /o/ of all places.
>>
>>15504286
The only damage sustained to my vehicle has been flat tires and some scratches. No actual body damage? Why? Because I can drive.
>>
>>15502002
Next you will tell us the Finke desert is your run of the mill weekend off road trip.

A couple of scratches/scrapes/bumps is, in my opinion, beating on your ride a bit. To say that someone can keep an off-road vehicle pristine is a joke, I don't know why everyone acts like I said doors have to be falling off to qualify as the vehicle getting "beat on". Granted, shit happens, vehicles flip (rarely), drive shafts break, whatever. /o/ posters tend to have an elevated opinion of their driving
skills though so I guess it is what it is.

>>15504363
Its my idea of "serious off-roading" yeah. Just like my other examples. Keyword is "serious" which is what I've been saying this whole thread. Idk why you all think a camping trip down an unpaved forest trail would fit in the same category as other "serious off-roading events", but it's pretty ridiculous. That's like calling yourself a professional drag racer because you like to race dudes off a stoplight from time to time. Theres nothing wrong with either, but no need to be melodramatic about it either.

>To say that someone can keep an off-road vehicle pristine is a joke
Who said pristine? Even a road car won't be pristine if you drive it hard. Sustaining body damage from off roading means you can't drive. It's as simple as that.
>I don't know why everyone acts like I said doors have to be falling off to qualify as the vehicle getting "beat on
Because you said you'll bash up a car if you take it off road.

You heard it here folks. Anybody that's ever damaged a vehicle off-roading, or has received a ding/dent in anyway is incapable of operating a motor vehicle. Every professional driver, whether it be on a track or off road, who fits into the above category is to be fired immediately because they just can't drive. It's as simple as that.

>Because you said you'll bash up a car if you take it off road.

Where did I say that? I said off-road vehicles get beat on. Because they do, no matter how good a driver is. My first post was in response to the first faggot who said that a vehicle will only sustain damage if the person can't drive. I'm not the new-to-off-roading guy that was asking about having the balls to off-road a luxury suv.

>>
>>15504352
Fucking lol. You haven't been offroading then. I've taken trails in the Rockies where the only question was "which part do I want to scrape". It's offroading. Getting into trouble is what tests you and your vehicle. God this board sucks lately.
>>
>>15506304
Shit driving skills, bro. Learn to pick your lines.
>>
>>15506219
thats not a meme. its objectively true. When XJ drivers try to explain themselves, I just laugh
>>
>>15506832
Yea, it's not. The XJ proves nothing, it's garbage all around.
