What are these like? As someone from the UK I have always just seen them as the epitome of the average cheap American car. And I like American cars, that isn't a dig.

Almost never see them these days, they are almost desirable in some circles now. Mostly torn apart with red top engines in them.

I meant classic in the sense of the typical shitbox, not classic car.

Why ask? You guys got the Alero. You guys got it as the Chevrolet Alero.
They're pretty reliable and decent shitboxes. IRS, 155 HP DOHC I4 engines (2.4L or 2.2L depending on year), or 180 HP pushrod V6 engines (3.4L).
The V6's are incredibly popular stateside. Aside from headgaskets and intake manifold gaskets (which are easy as fuck to replace because it's a pushrod V6 and you don't need to worry about retiming things), they're pretty bulletproof. The gasket issues can even be fixed by using redesigned aftermarket fel-pro gaskets.


Anyways, this here is the general shitbox around here in New England. Fucking everywhere. and every single one has that prevalent rust along the rear wheel wells
