Some bitch rammed into me on the freeway and totaled my 02 civic lx and I'm looking to replace it with a station wagon. Any opinions on what I should get would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking at volvo v70's and v50 t5's some Saab 9-3 wagons, and some older land yachts. Most of my driving is done on the freeway but I live in the desert so one with some light off road capabilities wouldn't be bad. I all so want some thing that has a flat trunk that's long enough hold a seven foot long bow or my bass guitar along with my amp and my budget is around 4500$.

The 9-5 will have more space than the 9-3 wagon on the whole.

The Saabs are good options
The Volvo V40 turbo wagons from 2001-2005 can be found cheap
First gen Mazda6 wagon isn't a bad choice and it's within your budget as well

forget the saab wagon aspect and go with a saab 9000 cse or aero. roomy 5 door hachback, still a saab
I'm biased because I don't like gm era saab or ford volvo's.

Legacy GT wagons are pretty cool. Outback XTs are pretty neat too.

When it comes to wagons there are very few bad choices. Vovlo, saab, subaru, audi, mazda, ford all make a solid wagon. Really you're shopping for features and price range.

If you look at the Mazda6 wagon, get after 2003 iirc, they gave them 6 speed autos instead of the 4 speed, gas mileage is better

I like my 03 forester. It isn't anything special but its reliable and has decent off road capabilities. I've slid into a ditch in the snow twice with it and driven out both times. It was my fault I slid in but it was nice to be able to drive out with little effort.
