Is there such thing as ethanol-free regular gas?
>>
Probably not anymore.
>>
No mas since the gubberment went on a mass-genocide for older cars.
>>
>>15467411
No. But you can buck up for racing gas.
>>
>>15467411
Where I live 94 is advertised as no ethanol
>>
>>15467411
yes, its rare, but you can find it.

i have a gas station that sells ethanol free 98 and kerosene along with #4 off-road diesel.

needless to say they are always busy.
>>
>>15467411
Yes. It's pretty common here in south carolina. It's not worth the price in an econobox though.
>>
Marinas often have ethanol free where I live.
>>
>>15467411
yeah all petrol in england is ethanol free
thank fuck for classic car enthusiasts
>>
>>15467411
Still really common at mom and pop gas stations. All the big chains are ethanol though.

Yes, I live in Oklahoma City and almost all gas stations offer 100% gasoline. The ethanol shit is usually only 87 octane.
>>
>>15467411
yes you can find it. at my place its most common at Casey's and most truck stops.
>>
>>15467488
94 octane is not regular gas
>>
>>15467411
Yes. It's hard to find though. I know of two near me. There is a new Racetrac gas station with a 4th pump for ethanol free premium. And the place I get fuel for my truck (only takes fleet cards) has REC 90 which is 90 octane without ethanol I believe.

Somebody here once mentioned that the 93 octane at their local Shells was ethanol free, but not like that near me.

You may also find it at popular sots for people to fuel up their boars or dirtbikes, recreational stuff that sees limited use. Thay don't like using ethanol blends in stuff like that.
>>
>>15467755
Popular spots for boats*
>>
Yes, lots.

My grandpa lives in the middle of nowhere Colorado, he buys av gas for his lawnmower, and atv, and such.

There is also a station that sells ethanol free 91 gas in a little mountain pass that he goes, and buys like 50 gallons worth.
>>
Why would you want it unless you're driving a classic that was built for ethanol-free? If you don't have ethanol in your gas for a car from the past few decades (and your car is not a race car), you will gunk up your engine and run less efficiently.

If you really need it, it's not sold at any gas stations by law. It is sold as a niche product in barrels, and most of the race tracks I've been to will have a guy show up and sell ethanol-free gas from 55gal drums.
>>
>>15467797
Sorry, I said it was by law, but I just checked and it's only the law in 7 states including mine. Didn't know it wasn't federal regulation.

Still very hard to find.
>>
>>15467797
>Why would you want it unless you're driving a classic that was built for ethanol-free?
To not support corn farming welfare queens is one reason.
>>
>>15467812
Lol whatever you want but I'm not gonna fuck up my engine just to screw over farmers.
>>
>>15467825
>>15467797
It's good for boats and shit that you may only use once every few months. I need to use up these 5gal jugs of regular in my garage and go grab some ethanol free for muh generator and stuff.
>>
They sell ethanol free 87 at the hotspot in town, the button for it is blue and is separated from the other 3 grades that have ethanol.

It cost nearly the same as 93 but I always fill my gas jugs for it for my pressure washer and generators. You certainly dont want to leave ethanol tainted gas in those since they sit awhile and im too lazy to deal with stabil.
>>
>>15467990
Of course man, boats and small engines aren't typically built for E10 gas. I was sort of assuming we were just talking about cars/bikes. Also food for thought, boat and small engine emissions are horrible for the environment compared to that of E10 or flexfuel cars.

If we're talking about vehicle engines though, ethanol-free gas will increase permeability/wear on hoses, seals, fuel tanks, not to mention the fumes will be way more toxic and damaging to the environment.

Like check this shit, E10 vs. E0 gas. The aromatics are pretty corrosive in higher concentrations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udJSDyZUolo

So you'd rather support the big oil welfare queens instead?

Here in glorious Alabama you can get US-Grade 87, 91, and 93 all in ethanol-free at quite a few stations.

Ethanol-free 87 was just under $2 / gal. when I last filled up.
>>
>>15468037
This "test" would almost be relevant if anything in your engine bay were styrofoam/non-polar
>>
Fastrac (upstate NY, I know they're around Rochester) has alcohol free 91, sadly 91 is the best they have but what are you gonna do

You could probably do that with most polymers, just not as fast. More aromatic compounds means that it will degrade tubes and seals faster, that's just a fact. E10 gas cuts down on that.
>>15468202
No, are you a retard? I just want my engine to run well.

You're a fucking moron.

10% ethanol does nothing but less cheap, shit, sulfur filled fuel have its octane rating brought up.
It does NOT clean anything, it makes the entire fuel system and thus engine dirtier because of this.

You also burn more of it, costing you more money in the long term.

>classic
Yes faggot, because early 2000s is totally a classic.
>>
australian here, i'm confused.

we have 91-98 pump guzzoline

and then e85 which i thought was ethanol.

are they adding ethanol into our 98?
>>
>>15468037
>ethanol-free gas will increase permeability/wear on hoses, seals, fuel tanks
God you're a fucking moron.
>>
>>15469899
And we've just found a retard bigger than the guy spouting the benefits of ethanol.

We do not have 91 anymore outside of certain servos, we have E10.
We also now have '94RON' being introduced to replace 95 which is also 10% ethanol. The only fuel not filthied with it is 98RON, although united and some others sell 100RON which is 98 with 10% ethanol.

The only benefit to our E10 over the americans shit is that we don't waste fucking human food product in order to achieve it, we use sugercane or grain.
>>
>>15469899
Depends what state you are in.

In vic we have E10 E85 pure 91, 95 and 98 aka choice.
>>
>>15469914
no i understand what e10 and e85 are, i just thought that 91, 95 and 98 were free of it and were pure guzzoline.
>>
>>15467812
You aren't even supporting US farmers with 10%. Most of the ethanol in US fuel is from Brazil.
>>
>>15469925
Nope. Read the little stickers at your servo next time, 91 and 95 do not need to be called anything special to be E10.

Like i said, the only fuel you can consistently be sure isn't ethanol'd is 98, and even then you should keep your eye open for the warning.
The benefit to 95 and 98 with 10% ethanol is that the base fuel isn't as putrid as normal 91/E10.
E10 is 3rd world, sulfur filled shit 87/88RON that has 10% ethanol added and is commonly found to be barely above 90.2/90.3RON. It's disgusting and should never be used in anything.

What we need is for 94RON (E10) to be made the minimum grade with no-ethanol 98 as the higher octane option and E85 above that.
Would be better for the environment and better for cars.
Due to the way pump-mining takes place, you could then sell 91/92RON without ethanol at certain stations specifically for boats and shit.
>>
>>15467411
wouldn't your engine be flooded with water?

>>
>>15469869
Parent poster was claiming that ethanol would make modern engines cleaner. And not using ethanol would gunk them up and make them run less efficiently.

Running ethanol-free gas does absolutely no harm to modern engines and can improve their efficiency.
>>
i know of one gas station that offers it, and that's all
>>
fuck ethanol, shits for drinking not burning
got a 96 tercel and that lil shit box did better mileage with pure gasoline last trip
>>

Here you go, a map of every single gas station that has it in the US.

I run it in my scooter to keep the carb clean.

The Walmart down the road from me has ethanol free.

Generally you're correct though, really surprised me to see a brand new station, and a chain at that, offering straight gas.

it's called living in Europe
>>
>>15471863
Really? Thats odd because I can still get it in 5 gallon cans at local shops. Or I can drive 10 mins down the road and get Sunoco Maximal 112 leaded at the pump. I think last time I got it it was $5 a gallon, big fuckin' deal.

And this is outside a major city. You just don't know where to look.
>>
>>15471863
What kind of an old brick do you drive that requires leaded fuel?
>>
>tfw no ethanol-free stations in my city bar some beaner selling it from a questionable jug
>tfw highest octane is 91 anywhere

I'm done. I'm so done with this shithole state.
>>
>>15471863
>>15473176
Most recip engine aircraft still burn leaded gas, 100LL. Usually more expensive, but then again it's meant for planes, people who own those can afford $4 or $5/gal

(Some planes can get an STC to burn cheaper auto gas though)
>>
It's called leaded gas, and it's bad for you and modern street legal vehicles.
>>
>>15467797
How about my state where they put it in diesel? Fucking retarded fuck those corn farming welfare queens.
>>
>>15467411
Down under we have 4 grades of pretol at most stations
(Ron ratings)
91 unleaded
94 unleaded w/ethanol up to 105
95 premium
98 super premium

also e85 at some but thats not really the point
diesal aswell

E10 exists purely because agribusiness lobbyists lobbied the government to create an artificial demand for corn and subsidize it's production. It has no benefit to your car.
