When I had an old honda cr-v that was having electrical issues, turning the car off and back on would temporarily fix the issue. So sometimes I would shift to N, turn off the ignition, restart and shift back to D. Seemed to work fine.

How old is the fluid? Is it the right fluid? Honda synthetic is over engineered to make up for shitty automatics.

Shifting from neutral to D on lots of Hondas forces it to go into overdrive gears.

i do it like 15 times a day in my Toyota Crown and it doesnt care, i'll bump it into neutral going down a hill then pop it into drive and you cant even feel it. cant see it hurting anything

TL had transmission problems but they were solved for the 2007 models. I've noticed the TL will shift more aggressively depending on your driving style. I like it personally.
