Rusted out E30 with blown engine, fun fix, fun times. It has a list of issues a mile long so that every drive has a ritual that must be completed in order to properly drive it. I used to leave my keys in the car in high school and bet people that they couldn't steal it.

Still have it, just it is not registered or insured.

I paid 5k for a base B15 sentra...I still hate myself for that. I wanted the BB4 that I saw on craigslist for 2500 but my parents say "anon this is a good buy, do it" And so I bought it....it was a good little car but not 5k good. I sold it and bought a Mustang GT for 3k last year.

This was my first car.

I no longer have it for obvious reasons

I certainly do miss it, but partially because I'm driving a sporty hatchback and miss off-roading.

I bought it for 2400USD from a family friend

Myself and three friends were driving out to the desert for the weekend, it was Friday at about 1 pm. We were going up a mountain on a two lane twisty, taking it easy, talking and having a good time when suddenly...

>approaching blind turn in outside lane with large drop off to our right
>approaching apex
>wild drunk driver appears from opposing direction
>understeering right at us

She hit us right in my drivers side door and launched us off the cliff. We slid about 20 feet and immediately started to roll down the cliff. Everyone started to scream and I was sure we were going to die then we slammed into a bigass bpulder that had a small tree growing right next to it and we amazingly stopped. 10 feet left or right and we would have continued to roll and spin down the 1200 foot drop, definitely killing all of us.

The lady that hit us was stone drunk and killed on impact. I went to the hospital and had my left shoulder and collarbone rebuilt. My front passenger had her legs broken and both rear passengers suffered concussions and broken ribs.

I'm not on my device that has the pictures of the car after I got it back, but this is still a pretty accurate representation.

To this day I think about if I had just been driving a tiny bit slower I would have seen a lady in a white Impala go flying off a cliff at 70 miles an hour lol.

My first car was a black GTC LeBaron Turbo with way too much boost for a small kid like me. Paid a grand for it, slapped on a fuck huge holset charger and held on to dear life on every single straight when the fucker started hitting boost.
I was sure it was going to explode in the most spectacular way sooner or later, but it got me to school and back and hooning countless of times for one and a half year without showing any signs of giving up anytime soon.
Finally the thing got rear ended by a truck that ran through a stop sign and it was over for the LeBaron.

Bought a second one right after for 600 bucks and still got the fucker, going to get her inspected tomorrow and cruise as long as the summer lasts.
This one is mostly stock though aside for a 3" charger exhaust that brings out the turbo whine and some deepness to the sound.

>do you still have it

>do you miss it?
not really. It was certainly reliable, made it through 3 jobs with fucks who owned ford and dodge trucks, some of those were 3-4 year old models and they were dumping cash into those every month. It leaked oil and two mechanics said they couldn't locate the leak and was not worth fixing, but it wasn't anything more than topping it off every month and after long trips. Did not have ever a single failure of any part.

I also don't miss it because I was still living with my parents who are scared anti-learning children, I had to even do the oil top offs in public parking lots because as soon as I open the hood they're behind me screaming ULL BREAK IT, so it's goodbye to a retarded shitty fearful era for me.

>did you buy it, if yes, for how much?
>what have you done with it/ to it?
free but dealership gave me $2200 for it as a trade in. Only change was an aftermarket stereo that I mostly used for hands free bluetooth calls.

It's an insufferable shitbox and a fucking meme car that is overpraised on /o/ by merrikans who luckily haven't had the pleasure of driving one and by idiots who try to justify buying the cheapest shitbox possible.

Still, it's cheap and a pushrod turd box that will have fuck all to break. Will get you from point A to point B in minimum comfort.

If I had to point out some good things about that insuffrable piece of shit, it's the foldable seats and that it's cheap as shit to own, literally nothing else good about the thing.
Also check the floorpan for rust, mine had a fuck huge hole on the drivers foot well, literally flintstones mode when it finally gave up and I had no idea there was such a hole. Looked through the whole car and realized that the piece of shit had rusted to oblivion in pretty much every single place possible, outwards it appeared pristine though.

the correct secret third choice is to eventually start your own business so you can have your own wage slaves.

My first car was a 1986 GMC Sierra my great-grandfather gifted to me. My dad and I rebuilt the 305, lowered it a little bit, made it a pretty cool truck. Nothing spectacular, but it was in great shape, sounded good, and for a 20 year old truck it had a reasonable amount of get-up-and-go.

And I sold it. Still regret that one. I miss all the cars I've ever sold, but I really regret that one. Can't replace sentimental value.

Plus it was sold for a stupid reason. My dad and I had a rough patch together. I was young and knew everything, and I think I resented the fact that it felt like the truck was half "his" because of all the work we put into it, and he helped pay for half the parts.

God dammit, I wish I could go back and slap young me in the face.

Changed both rear wheel bearings
Changed lower ball joints
Changed ABS rings
Changed lower engine mount in the front
front side lamps (indicator+park lamps)
Bought and put the Aero front spoiler back (previous owner probably hit a curb when parking or something because there was none, no damage though)
Changed stereo
Changed PCV

So far I haven't had to take it to a mechanic for any serious work.

I had a 97' ZJ 5.2 Limited, it had a shreded serpentine belt and the PS pump pulley shattered. The PS Pulley was the biggest POS ever because the ones the auto shops sell you won't fit the spindle on the PS pump and it's plastic.

ZJ guys know the drill, fix your passenger side swimming pool, rewire your door harness, repair your VIC until you stop caring about it, fix your heated seats burning desire, wreck it a few times, let your VIC catch on fire, and sell it for scrap with the battery inside like the dumbass we all are.

It's just a B5 A4 with automatic climate control as the biggest luxury, but I decided I'd take good care of it rather than run it to the ground like most others do with older cars. I like the ride and I like the car so why not? It had 250kkm on the odo, original import from germany but was in a shitty condition by the youngster who had it before me, had to tear the interior apart and clean it, re-seal a bunch of stuff, repair the climatronic (solder reflow) right after driving it home and am just now in the process of polishing and doing some paint repair. Got some exhaust-leaks I need to weld shut and re-tint the windows, but otherwise the car is in a very nice shape ATM.

Very first car I owned was a $200 94 two door Tempo, that never made it to the road.

My first legitimate car was a 92 Crown Victoria I bought for $500 when I was 16. It was rusty and ugly but I beat the piss out of it for 2 years everyday. I did more one tire fires and jumped more railroad tracks then I care to think about in that POS. Was a lot of fun back in HS.

Eventually it rotted out to bad to be safe on the road and was retired to field car status. Ended up killing it a few years later, though the bastard block 4.6 never gave up. It also stated my love/hate affair with panthers.

Crashed $5000 motorcycle so I wanted 4 wheels reasonably sporty but comfy for long trips.

Bought 1999 v6 accord at 60k miles for $5000. Transmission was always kinda shitty, died at 100k miles. Put in a used 70k transmission for $1400 with a cooler and inline magnetic filter and it's been smooth up to 160k miles so far.

Everything is stock besides that, besides updating interior with leds. All fluids kept happy with synthetic.

So much shit has broken in 100k mi, but maybe it spoils me for how much racekar I play in it. 3 rear wheel bearings, all engine mounts, the transmission, engine leaks oil and coolant, fuel pump, all relays. Guess it could be worse.

Yes, I know it was a piece of shit, but I think it looked good, and it would've been a godsend for modding on a low budget in australia. However, it was slow and ff, so...
>did you buy it, if yes, for how much?
No. It was originally my grandmother's car, it was manual and she was in her 80's so my uncle bought her some hyndai econobox. It was given to my older brother, then me.
>what have you done with it/ to it?
Nothing. All the hubcaps and stereo and seat covers etc were done by others. I barely remember what it looks like because there are only about 3 very dark photos of the outside, and I don't remember it as I didn't give af about cars until I started driving what I have now.

One of my brothers ruined it beyond repair when he borrowed it to go up north, and overheated and fucked the already high mileage and worn out engine. Before it was given to a wreckers, it wouldn't start, but if you turnt the key while it was in gear it would inch along and make a sort of grinding/melting noise.

Turns out the car got sold 2 more times and made its way to New York. It was owned by a 20 something swag fag of Indian descent who promptly ran it into the back of Dodge RAM last winter and totaled it. Both the car and my heart were destroyed in the process.

Brought it the last day of 2014. Still have it, it's my daily.

First thing i did was replace the rusty bonnet , put some 20 quid chavvy black wheel trims on it and buy some fuzzy dice.
I had to replace the downpipe and a gasket on the engine after the very first day I drove it to work cause I understated a speed bump.
the two front shocks needed replacing to pass the next mot I had with it.
It's perfect inside beyond my food wrappers ect , put a new stereo in it.

I bought a project car later on that I'm restoring which is fun, but I still miss my first though.

91 Nissan Maxima brougham edition
Had it for a year now
900 if I remember right
All I did was get a new battery because winters here are cold AF and the one I bought it with was not going to last through it

I am happy with my shitbox, even if its automatic fwd and not good on gas, I think it is an okay first car, don't regret buying it. Plus it has an awesome dash cause it's the brougham edition, the speed is projected onto the windshield, don't even need to glance down to see my speed, it's always, yet subtly in my view.

My first car was a 1996 Mercury Cougar 4.6L v8. I bought it for $500, but it needed a new alternator that I put in for about $60.

It lasted me for 3 years before the transmission went out at about 190K miles. I was moving in a few months anyway and had a motorbike so I didn't bother fixing it.

When I had it, it was an alright car. Very comfertable, but heavy, big, and mileage was shit. Overall good find for $500. Mine was like pic related but much more shity, the drivers side door was pretty fucky. same color though.

New head gasket, new head unit, new water pump, new timing belt, new O2 sensor and associated piping, new thermostat.

Slow leak eventually burst resulting in jerry rigging heating pipe because didn't want to pay for a whole new assembly.

Another slow leak has started, keep losing coolant.

Keeps throwing up OBD code for 'cat conv below efficiency' so I'll have to look at that.

I still have mine

Its a 1996 Toyota Avalon that belonged to one of my mom's clients. She was a complete fucking idiot and left the car in an awfully disgusting shape, the interior is pretty fucked, and her husband who tried to come off as a real car guy only did minor things like oil changes and the shocks are basically nonexistent

I've been driving it for two years now. The thing had so many more problems but luckily I've never had it break down in a bad spot (recently the starter went right after I shut my car off for gas). The things I've done damage-wise was back into a van (it was parked and I was only 17, I just left, the mark from it is still there, no dents to either), clip a fence pole (thought I could make it), clip a dumpster (thought I could make it), ran into a tow hitch, and had my fog light smashed in.

It's really just bad luck and stupid first time driver choices when it comes to me and that car, but for the idiot that owned it before me there were a few more problems that show. As much as I call it a piece of shit I really do like that car, and if it were better taken care of I would want to keep it forever but it'll bite the dust soon.

>Let's talk about your, anon

I still have my first car. A 1985 Nissan Sentra (Sunny) with the 1.6 mated to a 5 speed. Unfortunately the last time it moved under its own power was when I used the starter to move it from the front of the property to outback in the woods.
>I couldn't bring myself to scrap it

Yes, I paid for it. Spent the summer working on roofs to earn enough to earn my freedom. Spent $50 on the car and an additional $110 for a clutch kit. Took me a little over two months to get it running following the Haynes manual.

I purchased it with 79k original miles my Junior year of highschool. After graduating it had 144k. The timing belt went the same morning I had it scheduled to be done.

I started a teardown and everything was going good. I crawled under to put the jack under the oil pan and found out the drivers side frame rail was nearly missing. The rust killed my ambition and I haven't messed with it since.

I was quoted $2,200 to have the frame rail & rear shock towers repaired. Not a spec of rust on the body but serious damage to the rail and rear shock towers. Maybe someday I'll drop a GA16DE in it.
>It doesn't cost nothing to dream

It's a waiting game. I found an immaculate Buick Century for $250. Brand new tires, new fuel pump, new fuel lines, and a new alternator with documentation. Older gentleman put a for sale sign on it and put it at the end of his driveway. He said it was difficult for him to get in and out of anymore and he wanted to help someone out.
>Gave it to my little sister.

My mate found a nice 2002 1500 4x4 for $600. Needed tires and it had a couple stone chips in the windshield.

Another friend of mine found a nice Ford Ranger for $500. The guy thought the transmission puked but in reality it was the shifter cable broke.

Great deals come along once in a great while. Sometimes intentionally and sometimes it's a case of ignorance.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder

>do you still have it
no

>how long did you have it
8 years

Less every day. The gas mileage by the end of its life was untenable with my job situation and the amount of work/parts it was needing. It had a sunroof through and I live in California, I do miss that part dearly.

>did you buy it, if yes, for how much?
17th birthday present, mom bought it for me from my uncle who gave us a "family discount". Even refunded some of it when the transmission went out 15k miles into me owning it cause he felt bad.

>what have you done with it/ to it?

Work-wise in the time I owned it? Too much to remember. Had the transmission rebuilt at 151k miles (Got it at 136k, so that was great). Anything having to do with suspension replaced at around 180k, one of the gaskets? broke and it caused the body to rock on the frame (affectionately called it Mr. Toads Wild Ride). 2 timing belts+water pumps, once right when I got it and once 4 months before I decided to throw in the towel at 241k miles.

Otherwise just oil changes and small things until last July/August. MAF sensor and other shit started going bad. Transmission was dying again, had 2 cracked exhaust manifolds and most likely a bad catalytic converter (wasn't passing smog as a result).

Turned it in to the Toyota dealership for 400 bucks and got a Corolla S. Felt bad trying to sell it off to someone knowing the transmission could explode any time you hit the accelerator.

2000 oldsmobile intrigue GLS. Minimal rust and 59k miles, and is now pushing 60743 miles. I still have it and use it, and I bought it for $2000. I put about 750 into it, it needed new front and rear brake pads, new spark plugs, o2 sensor, crank positioning sensor, new exhaust system, and a new fuel pump. It needs new rear struts, which will be my next purchase.
I absolutely love the fucking thing. It's super spacious and comfy. Has CD player and tape deck. Doesn't look too bad. Makes a decent 215hp. Turns like a fucking dream. It's a great car, just a bit bouncy due to bad struts, but its soooo fun to drive

First car was an early 90's Olds Cutlass 6cyl coupe in a nice dark blue. I thought it was hot shit. Bought it for $1,000. This was in 2007 I think. It got totaled out when someone rear ended me in what was deemed a no-fault incident (true story is that I was like 18 at the time in 2009 and the woman who hit me was some old fart who the police sided with in their report)

Next car was a mid-80s Cavalier wagon that had a top speed of 50mph and a bad alternator. I paid $200 for that car. Sold it to dad's friend for $500 because I bought a 98 Dodge Neon off of a stripper friend for $150 because she had it just collecting dust and wanted to get rid of it. That was my first manual car.

At the same time I also had a 1986 (I think) Nissan Maxima that I drove whenever something broke on the Neon and I had to have it in my garage.

Eventually crashed the neon into a deer. Scrapped it for like $500. Put a down payment on a 2003 Eclipse and had that paid off in like a year. Sold the Maxima. Drove the Eclipse for awhile. Fucked up with the timing belt. Got rid of it. Was basically given a 2000 Civic. Fucked with that for a year. Then bought my current whip, a 2009 Eclipse. We'll see how long this one lasts.

I change cars more often than some users on here change their underpants probably.

Do I miss any of my cars? Not really. The Cutlass was nice but had suspension issues from day one that prevented me from ever falling in love with it. If I had the mechanical aptitude that I do now I could have fixed it up and made it a pretty nice little car. I regret not paying more attention to my Maxima. It was fully loaded and had a really nifty little space ship like dashboard. It was in this gorgeous light blue color. My first Eclipse was my first ever financed car so it holds a special place in my heart for boosting my credit.

Pic related: my current car. Don't have any pictures of my old cars and stock photos are gay.

I still have it, but I'm probably going to sell it to a friend for a few hundred dollars as his first car. I bought a 98 Firebird just an hour ago because I wanted to learn a manual.

It's a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme coupe, I bought it ten years ago for $800 and it was a piece of shit. The first thing I did was rebuild the engine, brakes, and suspension, then rip out the AC. The o-ring blew a couple years after I bought it and an engine belt pulley melted a couple years after that. I haven't done much to it since. It's been leaking oil these past few years and there's not much I can do about it.

I should give it a treat and wash it today, one last time. I think I'll also change the oil and filter early. Maybe bleed the brakes with my buddy when I sell it to him, just to show him how. Vacuum out the inside and wipe all the windows and surfaces down. Open up a new Black Ice.

I'm gonna miss it hard. I spent ten years in this thing and it's nearing 300k miles. I've put on just over half at this point.

Considering it got me to my construction jobs for a 1.5 years before giving up the ghost, and I learned everything I know about cars from that thing, it was money well spent. I still miss it. I'm driving an 06 Mercury Montego now and I still miss that truck life. I'm going to trade this thing in in about a year to get a brand new tacoma.

I drove a -92 Nissan Bluebird for my first six months, cost 500€. I got really attached to it but after driving a faster car I realized how slow and shitty it was. I still have it but it's not in use.

First car was a 2001 Hyundai Elantra I bought off my brother for $1200, had about 170k on the dash.

Had it for a little over two years before rush-hour accident on i95, totaled it, bought a 2011 Sonata for ~$7 grand, 90k on it, all highway, knew the guy.

Currently working on fixing a 1989 Firebird Formula, lots of small things wrong with it and two or three major problems, but I got it on the cheap (sub $100) so I'll invest some money into it.

Got it around the beginning of the year, for 3 grand too. I've had to do minor repairs like fixing a door handle and windows. but other than that its been smooth.

Dear old Taurus...I had it for two and a half years after buying it for $4k at 86k miles, and it met its end all too early just outside my apartment. I still have its CD Changer cassette for easy storage.

>buy buick century
>`995, tranny is loud
>pay 250 cash
>blow radiator and lower intake gaskets within a month
>fix both at home.
>drive a couple miles a day to school and work
>one day trans shits bed at a light, wont go in gear
>push it around, finally get it going again
>drive it around the block once a week for next 3 months waiting for money to fix tranny
>decide fuck it, finance a ranger.
>still have buick

idk i dont want to scrap it for 130, thinking about swapping the engine into a wagon of the same year.

My first car was a 2007 chevy cobalt. Paid 2.5k for it from slavewage. Took good care of it and i still have it with 278k miles on it. Only 1 spot of rust due to not noticing a nick on the paint in time, but even that's been under control. Did the recalls, and it's been problem free besides normal wear and tear. I got that car qhen it had 53k miles on it.

Just because they call something vtec doesn't mean it's anything similar.

Sure, the K20a3 has a form of variable valve profiling, but it's only got 2 lobes and kicks in at 2,200 RPM - not performance-oriented at all.

Still, it certainly is called vtec by the corporation to sell cars.

my first car was a 2001 VW jetta 1.8t, pic semi-related.

>bought it off dad's friend for $400 with 140k miles and broken A/C, but surpringly was in pretty nice condition
>the car happened to be manual, learning was a pain but I loved it once I got used to it
>drove it for most of my senior year of high school
>first week of college, running late to class
>made a sharp right turn while road was wet
>understeered and hit concrete pillar
>total loss

it's been a little more than a year since that and I'm currently driving a much nicer car, but I still kinda miss that old thing. it didn't deserve such a tragic fate. RIP

>1993 Acura Legend
I got a pretty good deal for it, but I bought it from some greasy car dealership in the ghetto. I can tell it had been gutted at one point. But hell, 1000$ for a nice basic sedan with 160,000 miles was a fair deal.
>>
>1993 Chevy Corsica (as old as me)
> 150,000 miles v6
>SUPER COMFORTABLE!
>Had it throughout 10th grade till Sophomore year of College
>Paid only $400 for it
>Gave it to my brother for his Sophomore year of High School and he still uses it to this day.
