I'm currently living in Japan and I bought a 1997 Land Rover defender 90 and the manual is all in Japanese and all the information I find on it only says petrol. Would regular 83 octane work or do I need premium? It has a v-8.

Ratings are different in other countries it's probably equivalent to 87 unleaded burger gas
I don't have a clue on what fuel, I'd start off with the best you can buy and buy cheaper and cheaper fuel until you notice a change

dunno but some of them were designed for 78 octane fuel

OP here, I gave it unleaded plus (it's what's on base) and appears to be running fine. Thanks for the input! Anything besides engine knock I should look for in case it might not be good after all? I'm not looking to blow any seals or rods on the damn thing lol
