Why do people find it so fucking hard to stay in their own lane around roundabouts / Why are the standard of driving so shitty in this fucking country Edition.

I don't even know the difference anyway desu senpai.

Is it something to do with computer controlled speed limits, judging traffic levels and stuff?

The only real reason we would need some shit like this is because most of the drivers in this country are fucking retarded and don't know how a motorway works in the first place.

I think mandatory retests should happen every 7-10 years.

On my way to work on Friday I saw someone get confused coming up to a roundabout and drive into the oncoming lane, someone come to a complete stop on a dual carriageway entry slip road and someone driving at 50 in a 60 zone keep that speed up all the way through a 30 zone.

Because putting up electric boards is cheaper than putting in extra lanes. Smart because they tell everyone what lane has an accident in it so people can pull over to look or continue driving in that lane (driving through a red x should be an instant disqualification from driving)

OOOOOOOOH THOOOOOOSE Motorways.
I drive the M4, M25 and M1 all the time, so I literally ONLY drive on "Smart" motorways.

I don't even think poles are that bad. Fucking Ranggggggggggggggerovers, bmws, audis and fiat 500's are literally fucking cancer tier cars now. I automatically think they're probably going to cause an accident/do something sub-human when I see them.

Both of these fucking things happen to me all the time.

Glad I'm not the only one.

We need mandatory retests every 10 years to hopefully get these sort of cunts off the roads.

Also, I think drivers licenses should be treated like bikes. The amount of fucking morons with SUV's/4x4's that don't understand how large their car is, or how to sit in them properly is astonishing.

You on PistonHeads?

Also the standard of driving in Glasgow is fucking shocking. Worst I have seen in this country so far. Everyone drives in the middle lane under the speed limit when the left is clear, everyone drives very slowly, and no one indicates.

Can't wait to leave this shit hole.
>>
>>15415048

Whale tail wouldn't work on a sapph in it. But i'll probs get a few cossie parts such as grille and spoiler, but some wellers @ 14 inches probs going on it

Its my first car too, maybe in the future i'll learn to drop a cologne V6 in for easy drift fun. Its eventually what I want todo with it anyway.
>>
>>15415036

Can't argue with that for £500. hardly see any of these any more.

Careful not to over rev it, mate of mine went through 3 Pinto engines doing that.
>>
>>15410775
its just some new way to get more tax out of us road users
>>15412211
oh god don't get me started on 4x4s they think they own the roads around me never use passing places that are right fucking next to em they just sit there in the middle of the fucking road Iv got nowhere to go a ditch on one side and a brick wall the other fuckin fags
>>
>>15415068

Yeah defo, I mean it had sat in a breakages yard for around three years as the guy who bought it was gonna use it as a spares car for a Cosworth, but he never got around to it and decided to sell it off.

The pinto starts instantly on first turn so its p great, about 88k miles. There's abit of oil (I think, atleast greasey shit) around the rocker cover and me dad said it would be the rocket cover gasket needing a replacement, is he right?
>>
>>15415107

Very possibly, but if the car is running fine I wouldn't worry too much about it in the mean time and just keep an eye on the oil level.

Always forget these are RWD, too. Is there much welding to do? Sills I assume?
>>
>>15415143

Definitely so, take alook here:

https://imgur.com/a/ewAqo

The seat anchor is an easy fix, there's universal replacements you can get, but I'm kindof stumped what degree of rust will fail the MOT.

That stuff in the footwell is a difficult piece of metal to cut and replace, so i'm abit stumped.
>>
>>15410790

why does that focus have bonnet vents?
>>
>>15415159

The seat anchor looks like the worst bit, floor could be a lot worse.

Fortunately I have never had to learn to weld as my cars have different problems to rust, but that looks like it is worth saving.

Could always do it the pikey way and just clart it in underseal for the MOT.

Have you had a look at owners forums? I bet quite a few people have had to deal with that before, could get some pointers there?
>>
>>15415188

Floor is generally ok, I think someone stuck some anti-rust shit in the sills beforehand, but it's just near the front where the rust has appeared and seeped in from the front left wing, I'm just curious about what amount of rust would pass an MOT and whether they'd open up the carpets to see it.

I'd strip it back with rust remover then see what's what. it's just an awkward shape to create.

Driving is actually bloody good in general.
It does depend where you are though.

I've lived in a few places, but Dorset is by far the worse.
My theory is that the nanny state here (traffic lights on every junction and roundabout, cameras to make sure you don't jump the lights, speed cameras everywhere, stupidly slow speed limits etc) makes people incapable of driving with any real skill because they never have to make any decisions.
They just wait for a light to tell them if they're allowed to go or not.

People have a mini freak out on every roundabout with no traffic lights and just stop dead!
Oh, and no one knows how a dual carriageway works. I end up undertaking people because they insist on overtaking fresh air.
Wankers

Not knowingly. Being a youth with a hot hatch makes me a prime police target, so I've had to keep antics to a minimum. Used to work at Alton Towers though, so A515 no, but A523 to Leek very possibly had a play with a few people.

Right. Help me out guys.
I've landed a new job and come Xmas time odd I want a new car.
I'll have around 2k to play with , if I waited til February when my current cars insurance expires I'd have more like 3.

I want something fun , preferably with 4 seats. That won't cost fuck loads to insure / run. I'm 21 with 1 years no claims been driving 2 years in Feb. Bored of my 206.

Tempted to be stupid and buy a golf vr6

Not in Yorkshire. Up there, you're lucky if you get a few fingers. In some parts, just the little finger is customary.
Mostly because you need to be holding the wheel, other hand on the gearstick, and FIRMLY holding shit because there might be shit in the road. Or a tractor. Or a quadbike with a dog just standing on the rear rack.

Learning isn't that hard. A general course will teach you to pass the test.
The test's a pain in the ass, especially first time.

I'm so tempted to get an american muscle car when I've got some no claims and somewhere to park it. I know someone on facebook with an 80s Camaro, and they get away with it. So, if I keep it around as a toy and not a DD I shouldn't get too badly stung on fuel costs and actually getting it to go around corners.
Although for the same money and not much worse MPG, I could get a tank...

Welcome back Will
>>
24th of September is drag strip day. I'll be going on the GPX and racing or going in the Justy and watching. It's £12 on the door to watch or £25 on the door to race, unlimited runs that day. If you want unlimited runs all weekend, it's £40. I would personally recommend against drag racing a manual car with lots of traction (AWD or RWD) unless it's built for it, but lots of people do with no ill effect. If you have a motorcycle, bring that as due to the wet clutch and suspension/gearbox design, they can shrug off even some pretty brutal drag racing. Plus you get to beat the cars by a few seconds (Which is an awful lot). Come along even if you think drag racing is only for Americans, there will be touge battles there and back, I'm sure, plus, any petrolhead who doesn't enjoy seeing a stripped out car rebuilt for a purpose with bags of power is not a petrolhead.

Never sell to a paki either

>sold a bike to a paki recently
>shows up at my door first thing in the morning
>show him the bike
>ask if he's wants to inspect it or anything
>guy doesn't say a word and starts pulling out notes
>he takes off
>less then and hour later my phone is blowing up with notifications
>"how fuck you say bike is in condition"
>"it fuck totally fuck"
>"i trust fuck you and didn't check over there"
>"what fuck is it you sold to me"
>"it totally fuck totally shit"

I just ignored him and haven't heard from him since

Yep, they are dirty filthy cunts.
I don't know why we let them in.
>>
>>15433831
That's not how it works.

Do you think they would refuse to pay out if it got stolen from the car park of a hotel because it wasn't parked at your address overnight?
>>
>>15433790
Damn I miss riding a bike.

Last bike I bought was some 1985 honda cg 125 for my first manual bike. It was so crap that I couldn't indicate with my full beam light on.

I gave up on a fast car as the cost of having one seems to go up and up if you don't want something shit. Bikes are so much better value.
>>
>>15434179
Might see what my finances are like after I've paid my car off in September next year. I'm 90% happy with it but always miss the thrill of riding a bike on a nice sunny day.

Is that a Grom? I dunno how you guys spend so much on bikes. My first was an '89 CG-125, then I passed my test and got a '68 Bantam, then an '81 R65, then I got upgraded to full licence automatically. Total cost, 3k? Maybe less?

as much as i hate to reccomend micras sworn enemies id have to pick (the evil shogun toyota's) starlet glanza. you could pick up a super clean one for £4k. the nissan option is finding a pulsar GTi-R but they're either rotboxes or the sr20det in it has begun its self destruct countdown.

Should I buy an MX-5 if I'm 6'3?

Parking in the street is usually cheaper than parking on your drive as potato-bothering caravan dwellers cant break in and steal your keys/rape your daughter if they don't know what house is what.

As a glorious Essexposter, I agree, but it's central to most of the country so I'll take a longer journey myself in exchange for the higher attendance and lower average petrol cost of the meet as a whole. Come along, our last meet was fun.

That's a fucking myth perpetuated by lazy midlanders, though. London is central to most of the population.

Any londoners here?
Has anyone else noticed quite a few cars not running on all cylinders?
I've never seen cars anywhere being as badly neglected as in London.

Considering that cars in London reach american levels of rust and neglect, it seems to be a london ghetto chic thing.
They don't seem to realise that if you can't afford to fuel and maintain your car, you can't afford to own a car.
>>

Hi

My old MX-5 ran on 3 cylinders sometimes. But I haven't noticed it as a common thing. Most cars I see around here are fairly new anyway (<5 years)

Solid, reliable daily driver. What's the problem?
>>
>>15411076
Britains drivers are just shit. I came down the motorway and see the person ahead getting rapidly closer towards me. I thought they were just breaking hard... NO THEY WERE FUCKING REVERSING DOWN THE FUCKING M6. What is wrong with people...

>>

>muh /pol/

They generally are crap drivers.
>>
>>15443709
Must be nice living in your sheltered town of Nowhereton. Black women can't drive and there's a huge culture among the Asian community of having other people take your driving test for you, so the majority have never sat a test or a lesson.
>>
>>15443821
there's a huge culture among the Asian community of being dirty shit cunt wankers
>>
>>15444629
They're actually nearly all quite nice people, the bad driving is a result of cultural norms. In Asian culture, older people are respected and always right, so when an older Asian man or woman is driving, they expect to be given way to. A husband might be uncomfortable with his wife spending so much time in another man's car, so he might pay someone else to do the test for her. This is where it comes from. A lot of people think Asians are dishonest businessmen too, which is just wrong, it's just that you're expected to haggle more aggressively than you are.
