i always played the fast and furious arcade games as well as outrun and then the more obscure stuff that would be located at cici's pizza and stuff like that
but man when i was a kid the lustered allure of the eurobeat and a chance to be tagumi was very appealing to me and i ejoyed the initial D arcade gamed quite a bit
the last time i played one was when i was in eighth grade at a laser tag place not too far from me

Don't think I've played Carbon but Most Wanted was, and to this day still is my favorite Need for Speed.


Hot Pursuit 2 was my first though.

Forza 4 in my opinion is the best racing game overall I've ever played. best blend of Car Count and variety, Customization and Tuning and the online community store for buying designs and vinyls was great.

Something i always wished Forza had that Gran Turismo does is the ability to limit the power on your cars. there are some cars that are too fast for a certain class because they have too much power. In Gran Turismo they allow you to limit your car's power and add weight ballast to compete in lower classes if wanted.

Yeah, Most Wanted's car variety could have been better and the customization was a letdown, especially compared to Underground 2.
Fairly minor things, but complaints nonetheless.

And then Carbon fixed the variety and customization but added vehicle tiers, so you couldn't just tune your starter car to ridiculous levels and beat the final race with that anymore.

I'm amazed at GT2 and GT4's replayability for me. I'm able to start them up and still have fun like I did when I was 5 and 10 years old. Arguably more now that I know more about cars and driving than I did back then.

desu i think you should all try out extreme tokyo racer 3. aside for the graphics and engine, the game has a great feeling to it. it has around 80 jdm, eu and american cars to it and plenty of customization to it. im also enjoying rfactor, gran turismo 4 and 6, nfsu 1 and 2

TDU was beast of a game, it blew my mind. It was basically forza for pc.

Sad what happened to it.

I remember struggling to keep muscle cars in straight line with all assists off.

And blasting 300+ in Ferraris.

In TDU you really got the feel for how quick supercars are, how different each car is for example you really could feel the difference in how light cars accelerate - Ariel Atom, vs Ferraris. Also the sound was done pretty well. Handling too. Wish more game like that one come on PC, well Forza is new hope.

Anyone remember Driver 3? Physics were pretty nice, especially when you unlocked the third city.
Shitty european hatchback + huge staircase = end over end cartwheels.
San Francisco was just plain awesome, though. Literally just hooning. It's like they looked at Driver 3, and cut out the weaker half of the game that involved actually getting out of the fucking car. And just let you swap cars without having to stop.

Lets see, i played all NFS games but here are the ones that stick out for me

NFS 2 - fucking split screen FZR2000 hotsteat champsionship
NFS 3 - dem graphics, installed the demo recently just because i loved the thing back when it came out
NFS 4 - the NFS game i played the most, awesome soundtrack and 'rythm', loved the M5 and 911 Turbo
NFS Porsche - awesome NFS game especially using a steering wheel, it was less arcadey than the rest of the series and up until Shift
NFS MW - really enjoyed this, though the remake was shitty, cars handled like crap
NFS HP (2010) - i was blown away how great this was, one of the series best, if not THE BEST, too bad the soundtrack was shitty

U1 and U2 were nice, but some races were incredibly frustrating especially in U1, in U2 the game ran like shit due to poor optimiation.

Flawless gameplay, cool car list (Transit Supervan is da bae), some of the best soundtrack to ever grace a racing game, physics that are not "press a button to drift" and both splitscreen and online multiplayer. The only game that ever gave me that "kinda real" feel. NFS was fun, but I was a kid, and when I replayed it, it's just so arcade-y, and the AI, oh my god, horrible.

Gran Turismo is supposed to be good, I tried on my PS3, but since consoles are potato, it took like 3-10 seconds to even preview a car, jump into a menu, etc... it's just fucking slow, so I dropped it.

Second title after Juiced where I felt this.

Usual gamer guy sits down, he crashed and sucked in both games. But, if you get the hang of it, you could become better and better.

In other titles like NFS, The Crew, Gran Turismo, Dirt, I just sat there, and poof I was good. I was not a pro, you know, but I was generally good.

Juiced ... it was more arcade-like, but it also had that "skill ceiling" that made it awesome. (Sadly once you got your crew and figured out how to drive them, it kinda got boring.)

Juiced is really fun right until you buy a Viper and dominate every single class it can be in. Before that, you're either grinding (aint nobody got time for dat) or constantly broke, especially if you lose, even moreso if you crash, adding a feeling of urgency. Also, prototype promotions and pink slip races, especially when you suddenly realise your best car is 60 horses below class cutoff and you can't back out already.
First races feel fairly straightforward, but then you buy a Miata or MR2 and smash them into walls a couple times because surprise, RWD is twitchy. Physics in general are excellent for an arcade game, not too realistic, but every car really does feel different. Even small things like lowering springs have an effect (protip: never slam your car all the way).
Overall, it could've been a worthy alternative racer if it came out when it should've, which is around NFSU time, but it got delayed to NFSU2 era, and there's no contest. Still, a fun and slightly different game with a disappointing sequel.
