Top Gear memes aside, the Z40 is an okay car. Just don't expect it to be anything more than it is: a luxury hard-top convertible. It's not much of a sportscar and not as a practical as a sedan or some other econobox.

Personally I don't like it. There were only marginal improvements over the Z30 body and in some ways it was worse. Also it didn't compare all that great next to its R230 SL-Class competition.

It's actually super nice. I've driven an 03 with 90k miles and it was clean as could be. It's nice when everything works. It wasn't very fast but had power and it was comfy as could be. Definitely would have it if it wasn't $15,000~

-Rear seat is useless

-tiny trunk, almost useless with top down

-dated interior even when it was new

-extremely boring to drive, buying expecting anything other than a comfortable cruiser will end in disappointment

Yes, Top gear shit on it, but that was part of the gag. The letdown is the car COULD have been a whole lot more than what the end result ended up being, which is what Clarkson and May were picking at. It could have been something to compete against the Merc SL Class, but it ended up being just a bland "meh" luxury car with a power hard top as its only party piece.

Get a SC 300 or 400 instead. The 300 comes manual and can either be 1 or 2JZ-GTE swapped, and the 400 is an unkillable tank.
