This is my girlfriends car. It is a 2002 Mitsubishi Diamante. This is her stock rotor along with her stock brake pads.

As you can see one of her studs has come loose so I am attemtping to replace it. Sadly upon further inspection one of her brake pads has ruined the back of her rotor. Well since I have to remove it anyway no big deal right?

Well except for the fact its the STOCK fucking 2002 rotoe and has completly corroded itself with the hub assembly and I cant get it off for the life of me.

Any ideas? I've completly drenched the back of the rotor were it meets the hub with liquid wrench and have pulled, hit, twisted but nothing will work.

Parking brake is disengaged, traditionally some rotors have threaded holes to but bokts through to push the rotor off but nope not this one.

Heat it up and whack harder
>>
>>15319577
Soak the front where the hub is, right in the middle.
Also, get a bigger hammer.
5lb sledge hammer and beat the fucking shit out of it.
>>
>>15319577
Smack the fuck out of it with a hammer dude

Get you big fucking hammer
Hit each of the red dots one after another, it'll probably take 5-10 belts but it should loosen it
>>
>>15319577
Listen to the wisdom of the late MJ and just beat it

gloves, wd-40, rubber mallet

Violence is never the answer, but it's an alternative. A very good alternative. Get yourself a fucking hammer and smack that bitch like it owes you.
>>
Ahhh i remember this type of shit. My mom had stock brakes form 2001 on her toyota. I just SOAKED the motherfuckers in PBblaster and sad down on the ground and would kick and kick the rotor as hard as i can for 5 mins. Takebm a break, and start kicking again. Took like 20mins but eventually the rotor came off and it felt so satisfying like removing a splinder. By kicking i don't mean with your toe but outward with the BOTTOM of your foot/heel. (Like you're kicking in a door, except your sitting down and using your arms as support.) Also wear booots or really thick shoes
>>
>>15320186
rubber mallet is a staple of any tool box
>>
>>15320267
Better just to use a heavy ass hammer as the boots will yield a bit
>>
>>15320305
If you have a hammer yes, but in my case i only had a standard sized hammer, so i had to improvise.
>>
>>15320299
So is a gasket scraper, but I wouldn't knock a rotor off with one. A big nylon deadblow might work but brass is the way to go.
>>
>>15320315
Even a normal hammer would be okay, I mean you can get a much better force applied to the rotor with a hammer than a boot.
>>
>>15320316
or rubber...
>>
>>15320332
a fucking piece of 2x4 wood would work. the point is use something that isnt going to fuck your shit up.

god damn you people are so autistic.

WELL UM ACJTULLY U SHOUD USE BRASS CUZ I WORK ON CAR B4 U CAN USE STEEL IVE DONE IT ASK ME ABOUT WORKIN ON KAR

fucking christ.
>>
>>15320332
>>15320333
>>15320363
Wood is good. A normal hammer or rubber hammer won't work well if at all because it will just bounce off the surface. It's not about damaging the rotor.
>>
>>15320363
Shut the fuck up sperglord, go take your autism pills and ram that boot up your ass.
>>
that rotor it trash, throw bricks at it, who the fuck cares.

also, kicking something with your foot has a LOT more weight behind it than any hammer.
>>
Drive around on the rotor till it comes off
>>
>>15320332
>using brass or nylon on a piece of shit part thats going to be replaced anyway
>>
>>15319638
I would just hit it on the e brake drum part. These things shatter pretty easy, so just break it down until it comes off. It's probably hung up on the shoes.
>>
>>15320550
I have lowered a car onto the rotors to break them loose before...would not recommend it was a bitch to Jack back up
>>
>>15319577
gigantic sterring wheel puller i have 2 in my shop that would prob work

Sweet Jesus, I may not have believed /o/ was absolute shit, but it is.

Here's what you do
>soak everything in your penetrating fluid of choice
>go down to your nearest harbor freight or whatever who cares it's not your career it's just a hobby, just fuckin go to harbor freight faggot
>get http://m.harborfreight.com/8-in-three-jaw-gear-puller-69224.html (pic related)
>come back
>re-apply penetrating fluid
>use gear puller
>brake comes off

Jesus, I thought I was bad but goddamn, this place is shit.
>>
>>15320797
Or just whack it with a brass hammer
>>
>>15320797
>being a buyfag
>>
>>15320797
that thing sucks.

I stripped two of them trying to pull a crank off. shit quality, shit material, threads are made from butter.
>>
Heat and a hammer.
>>
>>15320797
Or you hit it with a hammer rather than spend $20, you dense cunt.

>>15319577
Use more WD40
Hit with hammer
If that doesn't work, get your oxy out and get it hot
Now hit with a hammer
>>
>>15320807
I'm not Jeremy Clarkson. It might work, but why risk damaging something else?

>>15320821
>working on a car with no tools

>>15320831
Maybe, but there's a lot more force needed in pulling a crank, this is just a disc brake and it works well at least for that. I don't think OP has the knowhow to work on something that needs that much force, or will be using it a lot.
>>
>>15320872
>spending $20 on a cheap gear puller is stupid
>now just get out your ~$100 oxy torch
>>
>>15320923
Nigger, you're an order of magnitude more likely to have an oxy than some fucking clamp+screw arrangement shit.

It's not going to damage anything (the puller might though because you would have to put it on the braking surface or in the slots if it's a vented rotor on the far outside of the rotor where it's most susceptible to leverage warping it). I've never in my life seen someone use a puller to get a rotor or drum off, a torch and a hammer is the correct tool for the job.
>>
Why are buyfags so stupid?
>>
>>15320939
>puller might damage rotor
Who cares? It's being replaced.
>I've never seen someone use a gear puller to remove a brake rotor
Should have been at my house this past weekend, did it myself, shit worked like magic.
