Passed my test just fine, but I'm a dumbass and the bikes they have are yamaha eliminators, not suzuki intruders like I was saying yesterday. The bikes in the back were a dr250 and an older hyosung comet

2 people failed; one chick who did fine enough during practice but got super anxious because it was a formal test and was going over lines and shit too much

The other was an old guy in his 60s riding a scooter. He did great during practice and whatnot, used to ride bikes as well. He went way too ham during the quick brake test, grabbed both brakes too hard and highsided over the handlebars

Yesterday I took the DR650 down to Knoxville to this one cart track. Had fun but it was rather toasty. After that, I roamed the countryside and then had a good pork tenderloin over in Prarie City. Then I went home and played vidya. Still need to change the oil in the thing and clean/lube the chain again, but it's toasty out.

I just flunked the MSF course. I guess I went 10 feet too far on the quick stop and they gave me 15 points for that, and the bike wouldn't shift down to 1st, so I got another 5 points and flunked. The instructor said I'd have to retake the whole course again and I'm not allowed to only take the evaluation, but the MSF website says I'm allowed to just retake the evaluation if I flunk.

Definitely nothing to be nervous about. The entire first day of ride time was like 80% how2manualtransmission. On the actual test it seemed like most people had trouble with running a bit wide on the u-turns, but definitely weren't running as wide as they were when doing the figure 8's during practice/lessons.

It's definitely more than enough practice for someone new. A few friends and people in the class who'd never even touched a bike before passed just fine. I think the worse part was the cone weaving at the beginning when you're not comfortable with the bike yet, but when you're comfortable enough to pick up speed it's super easy. There was one guy who needed constant coaching/extra practice during breaks who I was sure was gonna fail, but still passed. Based on what the basic course was, if you're comfortable with manual transmissions, hooning, and can ride a bicycle, you may even be able to just do the 8 hour intermediate course.

this, I haven't even touched a bike before the msf course but have only driven a manual car my whole life. I had no problems passing and from what i saw, the only thing the others had trouble with was understanding how a manual transmission worked.

Just upgraded to this sexy bike, 2013.Suzuki M90. Military guy traded it in at 1k because he got deployed, and it's barely broken in. Talked the price from 8k to 6k. It's so comfy to ride and is a panty dropper.

Beginning rider here.

Just have a quick question. I have a 2014 bike which I purchased new from a dealer back in April. I've put a couple thousand miles on it and use it to commute and take little weekend road trips around my state. Last night, after taking a spin over to Detroit, Windsor, and then back home to mid-Michigan, I had the heat shield over my silencer fall off. It looks like one of the bolts rusted off and then the other two followed. I retrieved the part off the side of the road and have it in my room.

I know that I don't necessarily need a heat shield but my bike looks awful without it.

Is this a problem the warranty should cover? I'm a little pissed.

Pretty much any dual sport will be fine for a new rider, if you only plan on doing short rides and off road check out the WR250R, KLX 250, DRZ400S, or DR350. If you want more roads and highway riding look for DR650, XR650L, KLR650, and if you're a Eurofag the XT660.

have had it since. 52k enjoyable miles and headgasket went out yesterday. Dealership offered me $1200 on trade in which i guess isn't bad.

So with my busted foot I ride my step brothers kx 80 for the first time, Nd the little thing is kicking. Its fucking tiny but really fun. I really like my klr650 seat hight.
But I need more than 43 horse to drag my kayak on a trailer, 2 20mm ammo cans full of crap, several rods, a net, and etc across freeways. I was looking at the bmw f800gs but the price tag worries me. I also like how the Africa twin feels but the lack of info on the Honda website worries me. And If I get an adventure bike I want all the ground clearance I can get. Why would I buy a v strom 1000 when I can get a sports bike with more power for only 1 inch of lost ground clearance and nearly 50 pounds less weight?
