Hi all, not really a person who frequents /o/ ( or 4chan much these days as its mostly lost its appeal to me. Good for porn though ), so i didnt know this group existed until i decided to check out /o/ on a whim tonight. Well anyways, im a houstonian living on the SW side of town, and seems like yall are having a good time. The thing is though, while i have a lot of kart racing experience (won multiple local championships at a club, would rather not post details on 4chan), i havent ever really done much in full size cars, and actually the car i own is only an automatic that i got from my parents when i was in highschool, and so from that standpoint i feel like i wouldnt really fit in, but i consider myself someone who is a driving enthusiast all the same. Anyways, to get to the point, would it be cool for someone in my situation to show up and just hang out with the group for a bit before you all went off and did your thing? Would be cool to hang ouy with like minded people, even if i cant really participate.

Anyways now that I am judging you, here's the thing, we don't care what care you own, it doesn't make you any better or worse to drive along by our side. Time and time again, we have had people say they are not "fit" to join us, but guess what they showed up and had shit tons of fun. Shit, someone with go kart experience, what more can we ask for. A lot of us have great interest in go karts and some of us are naturals at it. I'm sure there is a lot we can learn from you and maybe the other way around too. As for you having an automatic car, well a lot of the shitboxes we drive are automatics too, sure it's way more fun in manual and it does help but it doesn't mean you can't do it in an automatic. Heck, I think with your go kart experience you could probably do better than most of us even in a shitbox. If you're not comfortable with that idea, well you could always meet up and talk about cars n whatnot. Here's the thing though, once you start seeing everyone get excited about each time we do a run well you're eventually want to get into in. We will try to hold up more mini meets and do small events since not everyone has time or lives too far to make it worthwhile. These monthly meets are definitely worth it, most people show up on them and especially in this one we got a shit ton of people. So yes, it would be cool if you came, same goes to any lurkers out there.

7th gen toyota celica gt automatic, i wouldnt call it a shitbox per se because over all its pretty fun to drive and in pretty good condition for how old mine is, but its definitely not fast and its auto, etc. I wouldnt want to push it too hard because im afraid of blowing the engine since its a high revving machine, and at 100mph its basically redlining in top gear (most i could manage on sam houston fwy was 110 and it wasnt going to get much faster as i was totally maxed on rpm). I take it everybody enjoyed the route? I wasn't kidding when I said it was like a personal nurburgring. Well eventually this will get bigger and you're absolutely right, some people will need to have some power, especially those who are really active like the ones you mentioned. But perhaps we can let this thing grow step by step, we obviously need to make a few firm rules that will make sure this thing is organized. Things such as everyone needs to have Zello and read the the thread before coming over so they have an idea what we are doing. There is a lot of confusion among everyone and too much babbling about what to do, in that case let those three decide on what to do. There were some strawpolls but that didn't seem to help, since some people were trying to go to a more safe side, choosing things like the 610 loop. Honestly, I was one of them and I didn't want crash into the woods or something and wanted to go in high speed cruise mode instead. But you know what, deciding at the end going to 149 instead was the better choice, I had shit ton of fun there even though my car was reaching it's limits. Clearly, I'm not fit for a choice like that, but some of these guys are. I guess I'm going a bit back and forth with what I'm saying. I'll just end it like this, major things should be decided FINALLY by those three but there still should be a general vote for things.

I dont know any of you, but best way ive seen to handle that situation in other clubs is to just hold elections, and you must be nominated by another members for a position and be willing to accept the role.

When people can't even come up with good ideas or agree on something simple as a meetup location or route, you expect them to nominate members for certain positions? That won't go well at all. I like the idea of Dagumi, GS and SC to take the "lead" for this group that we have going on but they should be more responsible for the final decision.
