Find one with as little rust as possible. Pretty much vans are workhorses and will run forever. Be wary of ones with high mileage because people are known to abuse the fuck out of the trannys that would be the only concern i would have. Rust and trans but if it runs good and there is an acceptable amount of rust go for it.

Assuming you're actually 18, you can't go wrong with old Chevy vans. For the last 12 years my mother has driven an '01 Astro, and other than the electronic locking going out, it has gone 260k miles without a hitch. Jus tthis past year I had to do plugs and wires FOR THE FIRST TIME. I'm not shitting you. Sure, the thing ran like shit, but the plugs had not been changed since at least 80k miles.

Anyway, unless you buy a basket case, you can't go wrong with a chevy van.
