ok, so i want to buy an RX8, but i have no idea how to work on the Wankel engine. i've heard they are shit for reliability, but i like the feel and sound. i figured i should learn to fix it. what do i need to know? i've been a mechanic for a long time, but never worked on rotarys, so what's the difference?

If you are actually a mechanic you shouldn't have a problem. They are quite a simple engine. Plugs are a prick on the rx8 though.

Why don't you buy a salvage rotary and tear it down? Best way to learn is just to take something apart you don't care too much about.

It has more in common with a 2-cycle engine. Call it a 3-cycle engine.

Renesis is garbage but luckily wanker engines are easy to work on.
