The problem is your truck doesn't have much power in the first place and your AC compressor is old and from the R12 days. Given that you probably have a huge power draw that your compressor takes to even spin the thing.

If you're planning on reusing the rotor; put a block of wood into the brake disc so that you dont hit the metal directly with the sledge. If you still need more power then you can try "balancing" the piece of wood ontop of another piece of wood on one end, while the other rests on the cap that covers the wheel bearing, as then you'll be free to use your tard strength

Also make sure that, if its on the rear, that the parking brake shoes aren't slightly engaged and is holding it

I have a 2002 subaru outback LLbean edition. Bought it used in mostly excellent condition (few dents, electronic magic rear view mirror didn't work, and a few cracks on the plastic in the center console). I recently ticked it over 180,000 miles, and I'm starting to smell a bit of what I believe to be antifreeze burning. I've heard about this, and subaru's problems with headgaskets in the past.

My question is, assuming it's not just a leaky hose (haven't diagnosed that yet), and is actually a gasket, how balls deep do I want to go with this? Just replace the gasket, or take it to a specialist and get the engine fully rebuilt, cleaned and pretty?

I honestly know nothing about how the other parts on these engines hold up, so I figure, if it's at all likely that there is something wrong, or soon to be wrong, with the crankshaft, or anything else, I may as well bite the bullet and get it done now. This car has been great, and I'd love to keep it till 250-300,000.

Hey all

Got this deep-ass scratch on my car. Goes through the paint and serrated the panel itself a bit too. I messaged a detailer to see if he could do something, and all said and done he told me it would be $550 to fix it, detail the exterior, vacuum the interior, and apply a layer of CQuartz.
Am I getting ripped off? Should I just go to a body shop to get it fixed, or is a detailer fine?

People use polyester resin a lot to make shapes from moulds and so on for the reason of exactly that; being easy to shape. Not as solid as you'd want when put ontop of metal tho, especially metal that might corrode slightly more and make it lose the "grip" it has. I'd suggest going fibreglass

I've used Plastic Padding Fibreglass Filler in the past on other cars with good results, and currently using it to patch up my trailer before painting it over, and that shit is durable as all hell

It's the same idea, but diesels can handle much more boost because they don't suffer from knocking. 8psi is quite a bit for gas, I've seen semies running more than 50psi. Gas turbos need elaborate computer controlled waste gates and stuff for safety, diesels just have a simple mechanical nozzle.
The EMD-645 series locomotive engines have a nifty clutch-driven hybrid turbocharger setup, but that's a totally different thing.

If the compression is good and it's not using oil, the bottom end should be OK. On the other hand I think you have to pull the whole engine out to even do the heads on those cars, so you might as well at least have a look inside.

DOT5 is the only weird one, it's silicon based. Other than that a lower spec car can use higher spec oil. Just put DOT4 in both, it will not hurt the LS400 and you don't need to purge the old DOT3 if it's still clear.

Can cam timing being off a tooth cause a system rich code?

I have a shit 4.7 ram and I threw a new head on and it runs great now.

But after a while it throws a system rich code. At idle, the o2 sensor on the replaced head lags behind of the other a bit, meaning it is definitely rich.

I'll have to confirm the o2 sensor is Good and proper still, but it may be the cam timing or just a shit injector.

It runs perfectly, pulls hard as hell proper, but the exhaust note is a tad off at idle, but only system rich, no misfire codes

Today when I got into my car to drive home I got in the car, turned the key to the acc position and the wipers and all that came on (it was raining) but when I went to crank the car over all the electrics died immediately and wouldn't come back on even after trying a few times. I popped the hood, verified that the battery connections were good but didn't actually touch anything, and when I tried again the car started and all the electrics worked fine. Any ideas? Thought this was kind of weird, I wonder if I didn't get some water under the hood somehow. I also had a weird problem a few days ago where my head unit completely died and my seatbelt/handbrake light came on but the car kept running fine and that issue also fixed itself after a few seconds.

so far i've only used the polyester one on spots where it's been penny size surface rust

with the spots rusting again, so far with polyester i've been using rust converter (with down to bare metal around the part, just bits in the actual rust spot still have a tiny bit of rust), then priming (and sanding it coarse) then putting the polyester over, then i was going to put primer again over that and put paint ontop.

with the fibreglass, do i just do the same except no primer before the filler? is there anything i should put on over the rust converter, and could the rust converter stuff interfere with the fibreglass filler (after it's dried)?

Nah, just put it right ontop of the rust converter. Just make sure the converter has properly dried

Use the filler as you normally would, and let it harden properly before sanding. Always use wetsanding last to get the surface as smooth as possible

The star pattern is important, as is a re-torque. No matter how tight you get them they will loosen up after a bit of bumpy driving, but after the second tightening they are good. Fancy wrench is just nice to have, I got by without for years with no problem.

Let the gf take my 95 civic out of town because it's good on gass, now it back fires, burns oil, and has lost power. The engine I believe is d16y7 1.6liter, and this is the spark plug from cylinder 3. The other plugs are fine, but this one has the electrode shattered and warped, and is touching the ground.

How well would Sikaflex hold up when applied to an oil pan?

Everything is in good condition except for the (auto) transmission, which is starting to overheat when driving long distances on hot days. It is closed and has no dipstick. I don't want to flush it in case there is shit in there holding it together

-The tubing from the manifold to a horizontal silencer

-The end muffler

Watch a video on youtube, read an article. When you buy it drive it around some suburb or empty parking lot. It takes maybe a couple hours of practice to be good enough to be safe in traffic.

So I was changing my timing belt, tensioner, water pump in my civic. For some reason I decided to take the tensioner off and forgot about it when I set my car to TDC. I just filled my tank because I thought it was empty but my car still won't start.
Cranks fine and ran for 2 or 3 seconds when it was warm.
Now it's cold and it wont run at all. All I hear is the starting motor cranking.

Did I break my fuel pump? I cranked it twice on a possible empty deposit

if you dont smell gas at the exhaust after cranking you can try pouring a little bit down the carb and see if it tries to run. if it does you isolated the issue to the fuel delivery .
the pumps may have a whining sound or a ticking sound when running, depending on the car it will stop running when the lines are up to pressure so you may not hear it.

Does anyone know anything about one side being slightly higher than the other? In this case, the driver side is higher. I have an 05 V6 Mustang with no suspension mods, but I'm planning on replacing the shocks, struts, a new sway bar, caster cambers, and that whole jazz over the summer. Before I buy these parts, should I look into getting the uneven height fixed. When I go to lower my car, I don't want it to look retarded and have the passenger side rub. The uneven height isn't noticeable from the back and it doesn't look tilted. I've read online that it's a common problem with Mustangs, but I wanted a second opinion. I've taken it to three different shops and a friend I work on my and his car with. We can't find anything wrong with it. What do.

You might end up wanting to restomod it though, dials only go up to 130 mph and the AC and radio on them has always been sub-par. Mechanically though they are quite sound and solid, low body rock, ground clearance, all despite being fiberglass/plastic bodies or whatever. On that, buy up some spare body panels and windows just in case.

As for engine, might as well get an LS series engine swapped in, no need to get fancy, but it does depend on how much horsepower you want out of it. If it's around or between 300-400 an LS-1 will do you just fine. I'd even spring for a 400 hp LS-2 small block.

Other than that just keep it clean, treat it nice, and it'll treat you well, you could even daily it if you desire.

Also people don't even remember how bad the greasers ruined it's image, nobody'll think you're an italian.

When changing plugs, do i need to time my engine? Its been idling a bit rough since i swapped em and my co worker said it needs to be timed after that?

I was being polite and asked my friend for 2L of gas when he offered me 5L, the slight incline added to the Citorën BX's tendency to park bottom down top up due to the hydropneumatic (see pic) system impeded the gas to reach the pump...

Anything I can do to a 94 Dakota with a 3.9L v6 Magnum engine in it?

It has 235 torque but after changing the fuel pump about four years ago i've never felt the same power from it. Had a shop look at it but they said it's no problem. Feels like it has less get up and go every year.
