The thing here is that people always look at the numbers and go "oh well the Honda isn't really that great at anything" and underestimate how good the bikes actually are overall.

Like who the fuck cares if a stock supersport is half a second slower on the track than another bike because they tuned it for the street.

I would only because I'm not interested in riding 600s on the street (750-thou is the way imo), and if I was buying one it'd go on the track only.

That's fair. The way I look at it is that up to an extremely high level of skill the rider is making more difference to how fast the bike is than the small out of the box difference while you get more usability in other areas.

RM is a much more peaky bike though. The KDX is a woods bike so it's more manageable but still miles different than my KLX or XR. With the FMF pipe it has seems like it's mostly mid-range power with just a little down low and up top.

guys i'm moving to the city
I have a car and a bike, very likely that I'll only have a reserved parking space in a parking garage.
Mind you the car and the bike are both toys, and my commute will be by subway.

Think it's possible to shunt both a car and a motorcycle in a parking spot? Should i just rent a garage? Should I sell the bike or leave it at my mom's place? Should I just sell both and get a life?

What gear do you guys recommend for a noob?

This is what I'm thinking about getting:
icon airmada helmet
icon overlord jacket
cortech latigo 2 rr gloves

good or shit?
>>
>>15236785
Safer at the track then twisties. No cars or road debris. Push bike to max potential. Become a better rider. Ive hit twisties all around nothing can compare to a track day though brother. And unfortunately with roads even the most amazing riders can't outride the mistakes of others. Look up Shaun rector on youtube sweet rider. Ends up getting taken out head on collision tail of the dragon by another rider. I wouldn't ride past 60% on the street.
>>

Icon isn't bad for the price to be honest the quality isn't the greatest.

Depending on your budget id look into these though.

Helmet-Shoei, Arai, AGV, RPHA(HJC), Bell, Suomy. Problem i have with icon is its made by JTEC same SK company that produces scorpion, speed and strength etc. they are heavy. Very heavy. Sick graphics though.

If you want another sport bike I'm 6'3" and have a surprising amount of room to move on my Daytona.

which one does wheelies better? my mates MT-09 does wheelies for daysss
>>
>>15237159
2006, i wouldn't say it's comfortable, because it's not really, but my knees aren't pressed against the tank, my knees aren't bent so much my heels touch my ass, and I can slide forward in the seat and be almost upright.
>>
>>15237159
my mate had a beautiful red daytona 675. He commented that after a long ride he felt like kicking it over due to back pain.
Also he went 220km/h everywhere but that might be more an attitude thing.

Sport bike would be nice but I'm not totally attached, I'd be fine trying out an adventure bike or something, but they do get a bit more expensive than the lower CC sports bikes, that's for sure.
>>
>>15237163
both will wheelie like crazy man. they're very different though. fz engine has almost a flat torque curve so its ready almost whenever.
>>
>>15237196
I'm currently riding a ktm 690 enduro. It does wheelies like a mad cunt, but it's a bit slow.
I like the option of going off road now and then but I jsut cant stand how slow it is and that single sound.

HALP ME DBT
dropped me baiku (not fast, like 30-35kmh) and now that I've fixed up all the aesthetic things realised the instrument cluster is fucked, no biggie bike seems to ride fine ... and then it doesn't, as I ride I intermittently get the Check engine light pop on as the power drops and the bike throws me forward, scary as fuck. What does this sound like, ECU issue? Fuel pump? it's an 09 Honda CB

The EFI doesn't seem to care. Power might be slightly down because the air pressure is only 730hPa but I'm light headed too so I don't mind.
>>
>>15237217
Check the fuel pump sound when you turn the key. It could be the tip sesnsor that coukd be a little tilted.

I currently share a parking space with my housemate's Falcon ute and my CB1100. My bike fits in width-ways in front of the ute, it's actually just in front of the parking space but that is dead space so no one gets upset.
You can do it but unless you have a particularly long parking space you'll need a fairly short car, just measure the length of the car and parking space and you'll know.

>>15237457
Holy hell these things are ugly. There's two at my local dealership, the exhaust is nice and the rear looks good without panniers but the paint quality is unimpressive, that grey section on the front quarters looks out of place, the contrasting cheap, platicky colour accentuates it and to top it off the whole fairing looks as if it's melted in the sun.
It's a shame because I'm glad they made a sport-tourer, it seems that everyone is obsessing over soft-road adventure bikes to the detriment of the sport-tourer market.

If you find a Triumph with the 1050 probably 2010+ it will be very reliable. The early 1050s had issues with the stock tune predetonating and causing havoc on the pistons and rings [this may have just been the Tiger].

i just dont know how people get those deals, if its really of CL and not a discount from a friend. i never have that luck, and i've waited for a while with cash in hand, but nothing that cheap came up.
yeah idk tho, i considered a tiger with a sprint engine swap when i was in the market but i just figured the mait would be more expensive, even if it was as frequent as a jap.
i did 16k mi this year on my fz6 hbu on the triumph?

unrelated but theres a guy about a block away from me with a red sprint, idk what year, but he looks like he's having fun on it. we both pop a lil wheelie to each other instead of waving.

Best bike for a commuter-tourer? I like the look of the R1200GS, V-strom 1000, Africa Twin (the new one), Versys 1000 and the Tiger 1050 but they all seem good in different ways.

SWM look like they're just the slightly upgraded Cagiva era huskies, nuda was rotax and more a redone BMW GS than Husqvarna bike. Though I still hope SWM does the Nuda or something like it.

I'm glad that Italian factory is open again in some form, chinks better not fuck it up though they probably will.

Is that the standard VFR or the adventure one and is the 800 better than the 1200? The big VFR might be fun on the Autobahn.

>The Suzuki TL1000 range feature one of the truly great V-twin engines, in some of the most unpredictable handling chassis ever devised. The Suzuki TL1000R has an improved rear shock, which doesn't misbehave so much as the TL1000S model's, but both motorcycles get so light at the front end, so very easily with all that V-twin grunt on tap. The Suzuki TL1000R is exciting to ride, but for experts/nutters only.

the 1200 (especially the abs, dct, full nanny one) is a major letdown
the 800 is p. gud
older 750 are the bees knees

now, if you see one with rvf on the fairings, cop it
those are absolutely sexual
>>
>>15237624
NC750X without DCT. Its a bit boring because its basically flawless and low revving. But its cheap, low fuel consumption and large range, large space where normally the petrol tank is (big enough for helmet or bag so no topcase needed), low end torque for traffic lights blablabla etc. etc.
>>
>>15237641
>the 1200 (especially the abs, dct, full nanny one) is a major letdown
>the 800 is p. gud
>older 750 are the bees knees
Thank you. That's a bit of a shame because I'd heard the 1200 is a tourer that's close to adventure bike comfy and close to supersports fast.
>>
>>15237643
>DCT
Is that automatic like a scooter or is it different?
>>
>>15237643
i tried a 700 and the massive torque and measly rev limit made it feel like some sort of diesel truck

>>15237646
there was a guy here that had either the scooter versoìion or the dct one, he kept shitposting about how it was "warp speed"
while being super comfy

>>15237648
it's like on cars, two sets of gears with two clutches that the ecu handles for you
some will listen to you and do proper gear changes, but the one i tried shortshifted like a motherfucker and was absolute shit while splitting
scooters are CVTs
different technology, same result
>b-b-but muh paddle shifters
>>
>>15237648
Scooters are CVT. DCT bikes have gears, and you can use them in a manual mode with + and - buttons on the handlebar, or let the bike do the changing. DCTs have two clutches for more seamless changing. One for 1, 3 and 5, the second for 2, 4 and 6
>>
>>15237624
pick the one that is best for what you're doing ofc
>>
>>15237648
Its more complicated than that. You can also shift 'manually' (still no clutch lever though), and it has all sorts of electronic gizmos to make sure you dont rek yourself before you check yourself because of a poorly timed gearshift. Still dislike it though.
