Alright lads here's a test animation, most of the work was rigging the car but now that that's out of the way I can focus on actual animation quality. A few problems: I know it looks a bit off, I can't quite do body roll as I'd like to because I'm very new to animating, and I can't make the wheels spin because the associated bone freaks out, but the dagumi wheels are fairly dark so it's hard to tell. Will fix if I can find a solution, but in the mean time let me know what you think, background and crowd I can put in later, but if this is good enough quality then I'll start on the civic as well.

Ok I don't main blender myself, so take this with a grain of salt, but generally you need to set up the car in such a way that you can move the car and have the wheels follow, but also freely rotate the wheels without messing up the car.

In C4D it's called hierarchy, in Blender it's constraints apparently according to this http://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/802/how-can-i-change-the-centre-of-rotation-of-objects-during-an-animation

actually pic related is largely my setup, but instead of an empty I'm using a bone for the steering, although really I could use an empty since it's just a "copy rotation" constraint. I just used a bone because I can make the main car bone (that I use to move the vehicle around) so that at any given point the wheels are straight, and I can rotate the steering bone to turn the wheels. I will try the empty for wheel rotation though, I forgot about that and tried to use a bone which didn't work out very well. My main issue however is more on the animation side, trying to get a smooth drift around the corner is surprisingly tough, and after a few hours of playing around with keyframes I'm only a little closer to getting it right. Thanks for the info though, I'll try out the empty for body roll and the wheel spin, and see if constraints only is easier to work with than bones.

oh thought you actually skinned the wheels for some reason. well if that's about how you're set up then empties instead of bones will make no difference. you didn't mention having a parent for both the wheels and the car body itself though (so you can animate weight transfer) so start with that.

well around just one corner I have it set to 60 frames@24FPS with keyframes at 20, 30, 40 and 60, since with fewer the cornering doesnt come out round enough, and I don't know how many with the wheels, I just put a couple in to make it face the way they're supposed to, but that's always the after part, the before is always just getting the car to move and face the right way at the right time. And I tried out the path but I'm gonna have to either get rid of the bones and rethink my rigging or do key frames, because the armature doesn't play nice when constrained to a path for some stupid reason.

Also should warn you, there's no interior whatsoever and it still has a lot of issues, since I pretty much just stole it from the google sketchup store and fixed it so that it would play nice with blender and cycles, it's far from being an actual complete model. I'm basically relying on the fact that it's nighttime in the CG shots and that I got most of the important areas that had shading errors to make it look half decent.

A lot of older cars had a buzzer you could set so you could remind yourself to not speed or something. My mom always tells me about how she and her friends would set it as high as it would go on their cars and try to get it to go off.
Some other cars have them so you don't over rev. RX8s have a buzzer that chimes at redline I know. I'm not sure about what others.
