How do I improve my confidence when leaning?

Where I live, there is an absolute fuckload of roundabouts and intense traffic. I've only just got into biking recently so I'm pottering around on a CBF-125 (I'll do my Cat A license in a couple of months), but my nerves are shot going around busy roundabouts.

Is having a light bike making me feel this way? I feel that if I had something much heavier between my legs (eg, 70kg+ more than the CBF), would I feel less like I'm about to topple over due to the lower center of gravity?

Mega noob here. Family got a 50cc scooter a couple of days ago and I'm hooked. Been riding it around town and it's fun as fuck. Looking for something with a bit more power that I can upgrade to. Thinking about getting a Honda PS250 because they look really comfortable to ride. Any suggestions?

>>15208293
Really there don't seem to be any perfect choices.
The Sonys have a good shape and good video, but the mounting sucks.
The Contour mounting is fantastic, but the cameras aren't great.
The GoPro video is good, but the cameras are expensve and while they have plenty of mounting options, they're all bad options (other than maybe chin).

yep, empty parking lots and GET OUT OF THE CITY

GET OUT

IT AIN'T NO FUN

GET OUT

Doesn't matter if you need to be out riding for an hour to get to the good stuff it's worth it, I got comfortable with higher lean angles just by riding familiar roads every weekend. The one example I always give on /dbt/ is just riding the road going slow enough that you don't need to use brakes at all (this might not be a problem on your CBF125) and just focusing on your lines and body positioning until it's automatic and you can just add pace onto the strong foundation.

and do research on how to ride right, yadda yadda you got google you know what to do from here, but it's motorcycling you can't afford to NOT research as much as you can all the time about how to ride better.

Can't handle the banter? America isn't as federally strong as Deutschland. There is more of an emphasis on state legislature. There doesn't necessarily have to be an approval by the Federal Government for state laws to be enacted.

That's why even neighboring states can have varying laws on the same topic, or why the Illinois DMV doesn't have the same policies as the Florida DMV.

State Laws in the US can literally vary so much it isn't even funny.

State laws can fully trump federal laws for intra-state matters even the federal constitution.

For example NY's pants on head retarded SAFE ACT (literally the poorest written gun control measures EVER) fly directly in the face of the federal measures.

Or Colorado legalizing weed while it remains federally illegal, as in you can't actually put your legal-drug money in FDIC (federally insured) Banks.

When I first started visiting /o/ in 08 the "meme bikes" (thought wasnt called it at the time) were sv650's. Then not long after that it was gs500s. Then after that it became any triumph - especially street & speed triples. Then it became the ZRX1100. I missed 2014 and 2015's meme bikes. Now this year it seems like everything is a meme bike.

Hi again /dbt/

I asked a couple days ago about models similar to the KLR650 that I can get on a budget.

Im looking at listings near me.

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/mcy/5620835706.html

> SV650
> 26k miles
> 2002

> $2600

Looks to be in good shape. I think that is a reasonable price.

What should I be aware of if I inquire about this one? What do y'all think?
>>

2.2k and it's a deal. Dunno why he nigger rigged the seat when he could've used lowering links.

What chain lube are you guys using?

I'm using DuPont Chain Saver on my bike and bicycle, it's great. Cheap too on Amazon. Dries to a clear wax and keeps the chain fairly clean, has some fling though but not much.
>>
>>15209942
You can get a 2003+ fi model for that or even a sv1000.
>>
>>15210086
I've tried motul, bardhal and castrol, all of them for dry weather and the stickier one (usually marketed as racing/performance).

The only one that didn't fling everywhere on the rims was the motul so I kept using it.

No, that's really small. No point in ever driving something that small even for learning. You'll get bored of it really quickly. And the only thing you'll learn is how to drive a really small bike. If you go a bit bigger you'll get the feel of real power without going too far in, so you'll be able to learn better.

I don't think you could spin the back tire on clean pavement on a 250 without hekdig cornering or a brake stand but I have to admit I've never tried.

How shit at throttle control were you when you were new? No wonder you needed to start on a 250

It took about 50km of 150-200km/h riding through long sweepers to do that to my tyre, i know exactly where it went, only ended up getting a bit under 8000km out of that pp3

>pilot power 3's

These are greasey when then get hot, and I dont know if its just my set of tires... any small rocks can gash/cut the soft compound area easily when the tires get up to temperature. I currently have around 5k miles on them and the front still looks new and the rear is just about to form a flat spot. I'm going to switch back to the regular pilot powers for my next set of tyres

Because one rider mentioned his first bike was a 600cc? I didnt see anyone asking about starting on a 600cc motorcycle.

Our weather is just now starting to get into the 80s and 90s. But I haven't really had a problem with them,
>>
>>15210446
Must just be your tyres, when they are hot i have never had a more grippy set of tyres, them disintegrating early in their life is expected, they are not exactly commuter tyres.

Pilot power 3's are commuter tyres you say?
I would say they are closer to being track day tyres, they are not even suitable for wet weather riding.

That's a pretty good price. I bought an 09 with 80 miles on it for $2700 2 years ago when I started riding and sold it a month and a half ago for $2800 with 13k.

your only riding bikes for kids or for grampas, no wonder you think anyone can handle a 600 if you ride made-for-senile bikes that handle like gs500 lmao

Aside from the shit loads of HDs, you find a bunch a neato bikes here in Iowa. Also found an 83 GPZ 750 that's mighty tempting.

At least you guys can use Pilot Power 3s. I'm nearly perma cucked into buying Super Corsas cuz of 180/60 tire size.

at least you weren't retarded enough to buy a diavel, can't you just bung some 180/55's on there and deal with any negatives? It's better than rolling around on super corsas with huge chicken strips like most panigale riders do.

Why are there so many Ducati riders in Atlanta? I saw one at a gas station the other day and this girl on a scooter made fun of him and then zoomed out of the parking lot.

I could, but then the electronics start freakening out.

>inb4electronics

Anyways so my tire choices at the point w/o being a pure race tire are

Diablo Rosso IIs, Diablo Rosso Corsas, and Supersport Evos. I guess it might encourage me to do more spirited rides?
>>
Just went off roading while it's muddy in a super moto trim DRZ. Fuuuuuuuuuuuug that was difficult. I haven't ridden a dirt bike on trails in about 8 years and going from a sub 200 pound CRF 125 to the DRZ with street tires was fucked. Was definatly fun and I'll be heading back next weekend when they dry up to refine my skills a bit more.

No it won't, at most the TC light will stay on, not freak out and kill you. You can use a 180/55 with no problems beside the traction control light.
